how can i get a graded wash using a smaller amount of space? specifically for really small areas on my paintings (within a few centimeters) If you could show me this it would be muchly appreciated
Put on a medium or dark wash, shake your brush in the water to get rid of the paint, dry your brush on a towel or give it a shake but not totally dry and work into the edge of the paint and work downwards, repeat this until you get white paper. It also depends on paper, if its smooth you need to be quick because the paint dries quicker, If its warm your paint will dry quicker, if its cold it takes a while, eventually it all becomes second nature..practice practice practice and it will come
do you use less paint as you go down? because i tried doing it like one really dark stroke and got some clear water at the edge and down the page but it didnt work as well :( if you dont mind cud you really explain precisely how to do a graded waash?
thanks for the vid, I'll try this method.
