Really good job. I love this album and Desertshore. Chelsea Girl is the perfect autumn album, and it's almost hard to listen to because it has such a nostalgic feeling to me. Enough rambling though, this is a great cover.
I think you are on the road to discovering a very fine interpretation of this song here. It is much more musicianly than Nico's reading, but that could be a direction worth exploring.
Nico's own intonation is not always perfect (she was deaf of one ear) - and this is a challenging piece to hit square every time.
You clearly love the song, and have your own style of doing it: those are the important qualities for any performance.
Thank you for your kind words. If nothing else, putting songs on YouTube gives me an excuse to arrange songs and get some experience with live performance, which is, by its nature, imperfect. Ideally, I'll start having some live performances (in front of an audience) soon. That's what this is all building towards.
Nice job with the accompaniament. You've got a pretty voice as well... Don't get me wrong but you have to spend a bit more time on the accuracy of your singing. Though those are minor faults, I can clearly hear you singing a bit off in some places. You should take something that is well-tuned, for example an e-piano/keyboard and sing with it all the notes within your range until you clearly hear that they're of exactly the same pitch.
Yeah, I work on intonation a bit. I have to admit, it's hard to sing on pitch for me with just headphones for monitors. But yeah, I know my tuning can be a little shaky at times. I need to learn to support better. Vocal lessons in the fall.
Thanks for the compliment on the arrangement. My strengths definitely lie in the instrumental side of things.
You shouldn't get discouraged though. Sure, it is not perfect now, but you've got the potential. Since you enjoy it there is a high probability that you'll get much better. I am going to get vocal lessons in the fall myself ;) Then I shall think about putting up my own covers...
If you just do a Google search for "fairest of the seasons tab" you should find a pretty good transcription. I took the original Jackson Browne guitar part for inspiration, but I tried to give it a Wurlitzer update.
such a beautiful feeling... I'm touched by your sincerity when you sing (does that make sense in english?). Thank you for sharing.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I wish I could get by just by arranging music for recorders, Wurlitzer, and saxophones :)
