  • It is a good ship known to me.

  • Philippine navy has 3 of these ships.!

  • TheJWalshVlog- The cartoon characters are chosen by the ships crew and O.K'ed by the captain. Some suit better than others. One ship, Aoife, i think, has a wicked witch of da west badge cause she spends most of her time on the west coast of da country. Hope dis helps.

  • this is the same class as the three (3) Jacinto Class (formerly Peacock Class of the British royal navy) already in the Philippine Navy.

  • I know all irish naval vessel's have cartoon charactars on their stack's but where did the idea behind it come from ?? if anyone know's tell me

  • i would love 2 be in th irish naval service if anyone is in the irish naval service please tell me about it

  • a life less ordinary it should be a life not worth living, i was on several ships and its the worst and most boring shit job i ever had, and most people just stay in it cause of the pension and end up alcoholics or mad

  • She was HMS SWALLOW (P242). A member of THE HONG KONG SQUADRON. HMS TAMAR was naval base of ROYAL NAVY in HONG KONG. When I was a cadet(HKSCC), I saw the ship in the base. The situation was same as in the video. So many remembrance. Thank you for your up load.

  • Awful small amount of living space on these, worst in the fleet, 11 to a cabin sometimes. Compared to 2 on the newer ships and 4 on the older ships!

  • you can never really tell from outside whats happening because as said b4 it only takes 30 mins to get it ready 4 sea or less if in a rush, spent 3 happy years on her :D

  • she is getting ready to sail. her 'dodgers' are not up on the gangway. so that would say she has either just arrived or is about to leave. if she had just arrived there would be more activity. also the lines are draped over the guard rails on the after deck so that has just been scrubbed.

p.s she is not a destroyer. she is a peacock class cpv (coastal patrol vessel) formally called the h.m.s swallow

  • We don't see too many destroyers in Dublin so I am not sure what one looks like but I would have thought that they have more and bigger guns. This ship appears to have one remote controlled canon.

  • The Gun is a 76mm OTO Melara Gun with a 14-kilometre (9 mi) range which can fire 85 rounds per minute. There are also 2 single 20mm Rh 202 Rheinmetall weapons and four single 7.62mm machine guns.

The OTO malara gun is controlled from teh OPS room basically with a type of joystick and there is a pedal similar to a brake/acceleration pedal that fires it, it will have a automatic loading mechanism.

  • @infomatique The modern day destroyer relies on air-surface/air-air missile than guns.. Back in the glory days though, destroyers were armed to the teeth with guns!! Bring back the glory days..

  • @infomatique It's not a destroyer is's a coastal fishery patrol vessal thats way there's not many guns

  • from the front she looks a bit like anold ww2 destroyer

  • i spent a year on the ship , good laugh but hard to get used to the small living space.

  • I served abord the Ciara, we could have her ready to sail in half an hour. So even though She seems all fast with lines doubled up, she could be ready to sail and out to sea in 45 mins.

  • Actually it sailed within an hour or so. I went to the Milano restaurant and about an hour later when I passed this spot the ship was gone.

  • P42 alongside and all fast! Not really preparing for sea with the gangway still out and nobody to let go the lines...
