  • WCIX carried on the tradition of WTVJ using popular songs for promos

  • WCIX isn't exactly defunct, they're now on 4 as WFOR.

  • What's playing in the background, 123?

  • By Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine, sure is!

  • Not only that, they still had their logo from when they were an independent/Fox affiliate.

  • @gatorman295 Through mid-1989. CBS had not bought WCIX but the station was airing CBS programs and calling itself The New Channel 6. They had switched to the Palmer News Package but had their old set and a temporary-style news open.

  • WCIX immediately air the CBS daytime lineup from early '89 picking up where WTVJ left off towards the end of '88:

    10am Family Feud

    10:30am Card Sharks

    11am The Price is Right

    6 News at Noon

12:30pm The Young & The Restless

1:30pm The Bold & The Beautiful

    2pm As the World Turns

    3pm Guiding Light

  • Wow! This must have been right after CBS bought WCIX. They didn't have a complete news department yet and it was before CBS and NBC swaped channel allocations. WCIX is now WFOR-TV channel 4. This was also when Night Court moved from WDZL (changed to WBZL and now WSFL). Benson and WKRP and Family Ties were left overs from when WCIX was and Independent.

  • Actually by the time WCIX went CBS, it was

    a Fox Affiliate.

  • Back at that time, FOX stations were for the most part stil considered Ind. stations. They were usually ID'd in TV listings as IND/FOX. Yes they were FOX for a short period, but was referring to the comedy block that WCIX had when it became CBS

  • Fox only programmed on Sunday and Thursday nights, plus the ill-fated "Late Show" at 11pm weeknights (which went away at about this time).

So for all practical intents and purposes, WCIX was still an independent station prior to CBS, and WSVN became an independent station after losing NBC... and gradually became a Fox affiliate.
