  • Hi Suzanne,

Thank you so much for this tutorial.I'm just this minute starting the quilt,as a present for my sister. She'll think I'm a genius,ha!

    Best wishes,

    Cathy.

    UK.

  • @tellybabe Of course she will, what a wonderful gift for your sister!

  • @designoriginals123 Hi Suzanne,

It's coming on just perfect.I'll send you a pic when it's finished. The only reason it isn't ready yet,is that I'm waiting for my batting to arrive. It's gone so fast,BRILLIANT! Thanks so much again. x x

  • @tellybabe Great....can't wait to see it!

  • Very cool

  • I love this block, but I have a terrible time with it. It takes me forever to get that center block to lie flat. It gets bunched up and I catch it in the seam, or I don't catch it at all in one of 2 places, mostly the corners.

  • @tcartpilot Sorry to take so long to get back with you, here's a tip. Press it flat with your fingers, then flat with an iron. Sew from the middle to the edge and again from the middle to the edge...that should be a big help. Thanks for viewing hope you're successful.

  • Suzanne McNeill, you are a sweetheart. Thank you.

  • @patzwatz1 Thank you so much!

  • Awesome! Hope I can do this!

  • @Pinkylee2185 I have faith..you can do it!

  • This is a great technique!

  • @tammiebowser I love it too, thank you.

  • Oh yes....I loved this technique very much and will definitely make this quilt .....just love how quick and east it is.

  • @Janebo62 Thank you ....I do too, one of the easiest techniques ever.

  • I love this technique too, hope you got the quilt finished..this process is such a time saver!

  • Love this techinique so much. I used it to create my first quilt this past weekend! Running home from work to create border and finish it. Thanks for the awesome tutorial.

  • You're welcome, hope it works for you!

  • Thank you designoriginals123 ! I'll have to try it again because it's been frustrating. lol

  • I have trouble with these blocks and seem to be the only one. Help!! When I do my third seam, going over the open pocket, I can't ever seem to get one corner of the pocket to lay perfectly flat between the two layers. It puckers, pulls and doesn't create a perfect corner which shows when I turn it all out. What am I doing wrong?? Thank you for your response! :)

  • @marjrc I had a similar problem when I first started using this technique. Here's what works for me: I press and pin, matching the center seams. I begin sewing at the center out the the edge and then go back to the center and sew to the outer edge again. I think the secret is lots of pinning.

  • I paused this video and went to my quilting room, I made a darling Christmas penguin block in, like you said, 10 mins ! From start to finish and I even finished it with free motion! thank you so much for showing this video, I cant wait to get the book!

  • @AFmomlv Wonderful, you are so welcome. Hope you enjoy the book. The penguin block must be adorable.

  • Thank you!!

  • fantastic!!!

  • Thank you it is beautiful, the material is Moda, "Lumiere de Noel" by French General fabric collection.

  • Please could you let me know the name of the material you used for the quilt - red/white floral - on the front page of your book which I have just ordered as it is gorgeous. Many thanks

  • Thank you so much for letting me know where the 3-D Bow Tie actually came from. I was shown the technique by a friend years ago and decided to expand on it using 10 inch squares. Also, thank you for letting me know about Cathy Miller, the Singing Quilter.....I had no idea. I will reference all of these on my blog soon and hope to get in touch with Cathy. I will also be doing another YouTube on 10-Minute blocks for a new book 10-Minute blocks 2.

  • It isn't at all a 'new concept' - we were making 3-D Bow Tie quilts in 1995 following instructions in Australian magazine Down Under Quilts and online group Southern Cross Quilters. I made lots of them back then for the 5,000 quilts we made for Kosovar refugees who came to Australia for Safe Haven (Cathy Miller wrote a song about our amazing efforts!!). That was miraculous!

  • Happy quilting with this Twist N Turn technique...glad you enjoyed the video.

  • love the video, i cant wait to try it out.

thank you so much for posting

  • The book sells for 16.99, your local quilt store or craft store may carry it. You may also order online from Design Originals or Amazon.

  • How much is the book and where can I buy it? thanks Ethel

  • It's a magic.

  • You are so welcome, I agree these easy steps are tremendous time savers. Thank you for your comment.

  • What an absolute find ..this video of the ten minute block is simply superb!!! It saves time and the mix and matches of various fabrics is just wonderful! Thank you so much!!!!

  • great idea, marvelous twist on a old pattern, love it, thanks for sharing

  • Since I have an appropriate fabric line with many, many charm squares, I think I'll try this method using 5-inch sqaures instead of 10-inch. It will take longer, but the end result should be very pretty. Thanks for posting this video!

  • Similar to the 1-seam Flying Geese shown on the Quilt Show by Ricky Timms. I love all the creative ways people are using this sew & fold open technique! Looks fast & professional.

  • @quilterstitch I haven't seen Ricky Timms demonstrating the 1-seam Flying Geese, but thanks for the tip I will have to check it out....I always enjoy finding new, easy techniques to incorporate into my quilting.

  • Glad you have all enjoyed the video, I look for anything which will help me make the cutting and piecing fast and easy and still look great!

  • Thanks for the amazing video. I am cutting fabric for a baby quilt now, using this techique in flannels and micro suede. It's fabulous! I will be getting the book!

  • NIce video - I believe that's also called a 3d bow tie quilt - just switch the colors around and bingo - and I also see the catherdral window if you want to take it another step...Great video...keep up the good work..

  • Wow! A quick process that doesn't look like it was made quickly. Beautiful finished quilt! Thanks!

  • Wow, how easy and quick! I love this.

  • @FeAu12 Very quick and easy...thx.
