you will need to pick up your body language and ask quite dilegently, never doubting that she will listen. the idea is that you start by asking gently, then lift the energy until your young one listens. this is very important. if your horse does not move off from your personal space, it is because they think that they are leader over you. you dont need to be domineering, just leader. it is all in the body langage. when you have leadership, you have a horse WANTING to play with you, NOT HAVING TO
second.. i tried to get my foal to run around the pen aswell some time ago, but hes so used to me, my touch, ropes, that he didn't care at all if the rope hit him to indicate to start running, so what do you do when they just stand still and dont want to walk/move?
@1991lightning1991 the first week may not feel like you are getting there, but keep your eye on the horses hind quater and focus all your energy on driving it away. lift your body, shoulders back, and feel big. point to where you want to go and hopefully the horse will go. if not you can use your voice, horses dont need it, but it will help you. any movement away, release pressure and relax. timing is everything. you will find your horse starts to watch you for subtle body cues.
thx, I'll try my best :P
