  • They might have had good producers, but they could play brilliantly live. Just look at some of their live performances on here. This is a great version of the song, and Holly Johnson's voice is unique.

  • Good or bad there is no denying he has one of the most incredible voices in music, are you maybe a tad jealous?

  • American Football highlights- results round up from the 80s. this song in the background.

  • Great song for the Gym! although i dont go i just.. sit and eat.. marshmellows and Oh I hate the Gym and this song!

  • Long live The Frankies! It was a big deal to have 3consecutive No.1s with your 1st 3 records. They had to be at least half-way decent. Nowadays any fucking clown can do it. Record buyers now are so gullible!!

  • fucking bummers

  • Whys he so sweaty?

  • Its blurred! hurts my eyes!!

  • holly u so dead fit and dead sexy.i had a crush on u.

FGTH rode in on its coat tails. RIP Holly Johnson...

  • great memories of a great year 1984, the best ever!

  • best bassline ive ever seen to this day!

  • Love the lip synching

  • mate, the whole video was performed on TOP OF THE POPS (TOTP) in england in the 80's. none of them are playing and none of them arree singing.......just listen to the lyrics and start loving the world........whooooo

  • the band could have played it but the drums were done on a synclavier, the bass also (probably, definately not a fender precision for fks sakes) and the guitars were done by steve lipson or some other geezer that was involved in the background with the music company

  • Correct all around!

  • wow that was classic, takes me back to my youth.

  • Gr8 song. luv it. my favs r 2 Tribes & Power of Love

  • Real music fucking class,

  • Great. This song and it's video diected by Godley and Creme Stuck two fingers up at the establishment. Come back FGTH, i hope you guys are "working out another way".

  • @philipsmovies

OMG, Godley and Creme, how talented were they? 10cc's lyrics were absolutely brilliant, doncha think? Only band could touch them IMHO, were Level 42.

  • Great track. Yeah, theyre lip syncking it becuase almost every band thats EVER done TOTP lip synch's!! Iron Maiden are the only exception i know of,,

And saying stuff like "none of the band played on the track" is such a load of shit. They DID play it and had written it 2 years before this performance. Check out the Peel session they did in 82 for proof.

  • is this really what the air attack warning sounds like?

  • remember watching american football slo mo highlights on c4 back in the 80's with this as the backing track

apparently none of the band played on the track that was released

  • uh..yeah he's lip syncing bigtime

  • BRILLIANT song, reminds me of great times in the discos !!!!!!

  • coppicer, what are you talking about?

    Holly Johnson never lipsyncs!

  • you twat.

  • You jackass :P

  • Cunt!

  • no one really played live on TOTP's - no one cared either, great music, great times. if you don't like it go elsewhere.

  • Superb club track in the 80's - Not a space on the floor

  • Even in the old days they were lip-syncing.. unlucky :<

  • the backing track was created on a yamaha v50, even the instruments are their for show (N)

  • i wood love 2 no the chords 2 this.

  • but nothing has really changed. we still rely on popular culture to keep us informed and help us see the world as it really is, while the grey men in grey suits fill their pockets and feed us dreams that they sold to a multi - national long ago

  • Nicely said coppicer.

  • thanks, micromachineman. some people just don't get it, do they? so what if they lipsynched, so what if they were manufactured, people need to listen to the message. we have become a nation of blank minds who worry about what a celebrity wears and where they go and ignore the people with the real message, or is that the way it's always been?

  • @coppicer "but nothing has really changed. we still rely on popular culture to keep us informed and help us see the world as it really is"

    that is precious.

Pop culture helps you see reality? One must learn to triangulate the news, just as any other important data. Don't rely on just 1 source, listen to all sides & then learn to discern.

Or follow your pop-culture emotional feelings. That'll work for the corrupt politicians since you can't reply with real objections (just popular ones)

  • @coppicer good point...not! idiot¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • This song was played on live super league intro's

  • Paul Morley and Trevor Horn producing yet another distinct version of the song. Did anyone ever think they were actually playing it!

Still a fantastic song, and a great upload, thanks!

  • No we knew they werent playing it...Did you care!!!..I fancied Mark i was 14 and Mum an Dad hated it ..Wasnt that enough!!LOLThis is the one saying FOLLOW ME!!...FGTH...XXX

  • @srck

The reason this different version exists is because the BBC Musicians Union insisted that any songs with orchestral elements had to represented on stage by real musicians playing or - as done here - removed from the version performed on screen. BTW Frankie were real musicians as represented by their superb live concert performances.
