So what you are telling me is that since he died a few years ago it is impossible that he was married to a white woman?? Especially one that made him disappear from the main radicalist scene because of her own family and how it would reflect on her? And Red Black and Green or not, he was a sellout in his later days.
@kissesportu that is what happens to most blacks when money gets involved. When rap first came out, it was about black unity, the way to separate that is by putting money in it, when you are poor and destitute sticking with your own falls by the way side, if the white man is offering you money you see that as a way out of financial/emotional depression. Old blacks call it Divide/Conquer- for our unity is not acceptable to them and maintaining their elite status.
To LostCookProd, Professor X (Rest until Allah raises you again, my brother) called himself the Overseer because he was a teacher, a leader, as an Overseer is. An Overseer watches over his fellow man/woman to show them the way as they walk the path of Allah, disciplining those who reject the path, teaching those their errors when they stray from the path.
From PE, BDP, and X-Clan i thike more white folks bought their albums than to the black kids they wanted to reach out. Also I wonder if they ever paid royalties to ZZapp for sampling their music?
i learned black history from brother j lyrics more than wat they taught me in class. loved eminem when he said he had to wait til xclan died down b4 he came out. he wulda lit him up. words from mm.dats real talk
X-Clan was WAY ahead of their time. Staying true to yourself is such a hard task in the industry and they did it. Knowing your history helps you break the code.

very nice track,i loved it.but what the hell was that "step off" to the ancient legendary figures of us greeks???damn, keep your comments for yourself homie!dont compare an ancient great civilization to another cause u cant tell who was better, all were important to humanity their own way.its very nice to support your own culture through music but dont mention another one as weaker (especially when u know that's generaly recognisable that its not that weaker),art is not for that kinda stuff.peace!
@chrisrap4ever He was trying to say the the Greeks was influenced by Egypt/Nubia. And the Romans was influenced by the Greeks. Then the French/Spanish/English was influenced by the Roman Empire. The Americas was influenced by England. And Egypt/Nubia was kinda influenced by the Babylonians and Phoenicians.
All civilizations were influenced by other countries...and it spreaded West to the AMericans.

@chrisrap4ever Yea, but that was just a misconception on Professor's X part (RIP). I think he just lashed out at the Ancient Greeks for the wrong reasons. So you should still check out their other works/LP's, and currently, some of the other living members (Brother J, The lead MC and Isis, the pretty lightskin chic) are putting out music as well.
@PIOSystems i know this album is a classic,i knew it before i listened to it.this was the first track i listened from the album and i was really enjoyin it like the rest of the classics i ve heard so far, untill i heard that 'step off'.im mad at X,not only cause he offended us but he also made me not wanna check out the rest of this album.maybe one day in the future i ll check it out.but surely according to this track (until the X's comment in the end) its undoubtly a classic album.damn u X(RIP)
@srekal88 Whassup Pham? You want the long answer, or the short one? I'll give you the short: 1. Record Labels, 2. Radio DJs, 3. WE F&^%KED IT UP! A. Once the 90s faded out, record labels were no longer interested in talent; the wanted sales. B. Radio DJs refused to play quality Hip Hop over dumbed down hip hop. C. Why'd you put away your leather medallion?? All of a sudden, you're not feeling red, black, and green? What happened? We turned conscious Hip Hop into a fad, and we let it disappear.
@TheDAPPERdad It's not sales, X-Clan went platinum. It was that the labels want mind control. The community has to be divided for the whole system to work. X-Clan was even waking up gangs for little while.
My point was more about ownership. Rappers who own their own lables are in a better position to do the music they want and to put themselves and other similar rappers out there without being dependent on anyone else. When the Hieroglyphic rappers(Del,Souls of Mischief etc) were dropped from their lables they came together to form their own lable. This has kept those rappers in the game since 93.
How many of those conscious rappers owned their own record lables? One thing that helped the gangsta rappers was that many owned their own lables(Ruthless,No Limit,Sick Wit It,Suave House etc) or were on other independent lables that catered to their type of music making it easier to put themselves out there.

@sterlin1m Brother J was, is and will always be one of the best. Nobody brings it like he does. Today's rap "artists" could learn something from this brother. For Brother J it has always been about the message not the money. From X-Clan to the Dark Sun Riders (how many remember them?) he's stayed true to himself, which is difficult to do in the music industry.
You say Hannah Montana-i fucking punch you in the face
92% of teenagers have turned to New school and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. Don't let the real hip hop die
Back when hiphop music still had critical thinking cognitive messages in it over dope beats- nowadays it's mostly all negative stereotype dumbassification over dope beats all across the Nation.smh
@IceManLikeGervin I AGREE WITH MOST OF WHAT YOU SAID EXCEPT FOR THE" DOPE BEATS" PART....TODAY'S RAP HAS AWFUL BEATS....HAVE YOU HEARD WACKA FLOCKA, JEEZY,AND P DIDDY'S BEATS LATELY? THEY'RE TERRIBLE
But for the one's that do have some dope beat songs they are still spitting pure unadulterated dumbassification over them unlike XClan above who kept it on the pure dope beat cognitive hiphop tip.
5 BLAKH FISTS!!!!!KONSCIOUS RAP WAS BECOMINGTHE DOMINANT RAP/HIP HOP THEME DURING THE LATE 80'S TO EARLY90'S....THEN THE ENEMY STATED TO TRY TO MOVE THE BLOODS/CRIPS INTO DC('89'), BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. NEXT, CRACK COCAINE/BLOODS&CRIPS AND BACKWARD ASS DIRTY SOUTH GANGSTER RAP STARTEDTO REAR ITS UGLY HEAD IN THE EARLY 90'S AND EVENTUALLY TOOK OVER EAST COAST RAP, THE HIP HOP UNIVERSE AND BLAKH GHETTOS IN AMERIKKKA....
oh wow i forgot about this shit! this is the new movement in hip hop says minkrobe all new hip hop and rap will be on this type of shit or i will kill u

@mattingly234ever I wonder if your mother ever banged a dog? Hey riddle me this...what's white and 12 inches? Nothing honey! LOL...fuckin cave boy! That's just your sick perverted mind wishing you could have her. If your dick was as big as your imagination you might have a chance LOL Get back on your all four and go back to your cave...and stick with Becky and Jill Assoflat!
damn dude angry much? i prob supported x clan more than you, buying their records X2. can't we just all get along? so i can put hickies on your chest like lil shawn.......
@mattingly234ever So what you bought their records, the sister Isis wasn't interested in not cave boys. You made a sarcastic remark so I followed with one of my own. What's wrong its not cute when the remark is at your expense? So yeah we can get along as long as you show respect to my sisters. And as far as the hickies....you might be into that gay shit, but hey I'm just not into that.
you're gonna give yourself a heart attack with all that pent up hate. i can look at myself in the mirror everyday and know that i treat all people the same, obviously
you can't say the same. keep believing fairy tales that you read on the internets......peace to the gods and the erfs!
@mattingly234ever My heart is strong chump, and I don't care that much about you or your kind to hate you...takes to much energy. Besides God didn't make blacks with that kind of heart, that's a white thing lol. And I believe in proven documented history about your kind buddy. You can't make that a fairy tail no matter how much you try sound hip wigger.
This is what makes me proud! no body naked, cussing, doing drugs, just feeding your mine and still allowing you to hit the dance floor! This is what is up....siiiiiiiiiiissssy!
this song begins with the intro to "FLASH LITE"(PARLAMENT/FUNKADELIC)...then as the rap verse begins, it blends into "MORE BOUNCE"(ZAPP/ROGER T.)!!!!.....
no matter how much a song has been sampled! use it the RIGHT WAY and it will last forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a young suburban white kid and I LOVED X-Clan. (It was also my intro to Parliament/Funkadelic, but that's a different story...)
It's a good thing my old crotchety father had no idea I was majorly into politically-charged music made by well-spoken angry black men, because he probably would have had a coronary! Hahah, but that's what I loved about that era of hip hop --- being articulate was a quality people wanted!
@arclight2012 I'm glad you found X-Clan and Parliament but I take offense to you calling X-CLAN angry black men. Why everytime Black people talk about the injustice of America or about African History we are angry?
@JKenyatta07 This is a good point and I apologize for any offense taken. I should have worded it better that this is how my father would have seen it had he uncovered X-Clan in my music collection back in high school.
Music with a well articulated message about history and pride -- AND THERE'S NOT ONE SCANTILY CLAD BLACK BOOTY SHAKING IN THE WHOLE VIDEO. What has happened to us??
@traceytracey1: When we realized that we could curse in our lyrics then that opened many more doors in hip hop. I wish that this group were still in existence. If they were, imagine the possible collaborations between them and Tupac!!
@BlackPrince2u - Being able to curse was the beginning of our demise. It all started with Luke and 2 Live Crew. While he has the right to express himself, his doing so caused a movement in black music that focused less on lyrical and instrumental substance and more on nudity, cussing, who can be more explicit than the next in one song. Thus, our morbid state of hip-hop today.
@thesouthrapsucks naw homie, blame this NEW popped out bubblegum rap shit from all over, not just here. We've had real rap for decades, groups like Parental Advisory, UGK, 8Ball & MJG, Scarface & The Geto Boys, The Hard Boys, Royal C, Gangsta Pat, Playa Fly, Gangsta Blac, KingPin Skinny Pimp, & and host of others. Like Willie D said, yeah its some trash in the south, but from east to west some of you niggas is garbage too. I

@traceytracey1 i totally agree with you bra about the shit you're talking about. today's music has no message but violence and thuggery. these young cats think that nigga's like gucci mane, lil wayne, flaka waka, plies,o j da juiceman and any whack ass clown i did'nt mention. i'm a old schooler from the 80's hip-hop era (44 y.o.) hip-hop today has no substance,no creativity,no soul,no passion, or love. thank god we were part of the golden age of music, the 60's-90's. i still bump all these classics
IT WAS SOME OF THE MOST ULTIMATE SHIT EVER WHEN I WAS 12,GYATDAMMIT,AND TWENTY YEARS LATER IT'S STILL THE SUPREME REALITY. AND CAN'T NOBODY TELL ME A MUTHAFUCKIN' THANG.

Brother -J was one of the best ever!!!
sterlin1m 10 months ago 2
@sterlin1m Brother J was, is and will always be one of the best. Nobody brings it like he does. Today's rap "artists" could learn something from this brother. For Brother J it has always been about the message not the money. From X-Clan to the Dark Sun Riders (how many remember them?) he's stayed true to himself, which is difficult to do in the music industry.

True dat.lol
But for the one's that do have some dope beat songs they are still spitting pure unadulterated dumbassification over them unlike XClan above who kept it on the pure dope beat cognitive hiphop tip.

Hahah, but that's what I loved about that era of hip hop --- being articulate was a quality people wanted!
arclight2012 1 year ago
@arclight2012 I'm glad you found X-Clan and Parliament but I take offense to you calling X-CLAN angry black men. Why everytime Black people talk about the injustice of America or about African History we are angry?
JKenyatta07 1 year ago
@JKenyatta07 This is a good point and I apologize for any offense taken. I should have worded it better that this is how my father would have seen it had he uncovered X-Clan in my music collection back in high school.

@traceytracey1 couldnt agree with you more, our music had the message, the knowledge and the meaning, now its all about money and disrespect
tyron2345 1 year ago
@traceytracey1: When we realized that we could curse in our lyrics then that opened many more doors in hip hop. I wish that this group were still in existence. If they were, imagine the possible collaborations between them and Tupac!!
BlackPrince2u 1 year ago
@BlackPrince2u - Being able to curse was the beginning of our demise. It all started with Luke and 2 Live Crew. While he has the right to express himself, his doing so caused a movement in black music that focused less on lyrical and instrumental substance and more on nudity, cussing, who can be more explicit than the next in one song. Thus, our morbid state of hip-hop today.
