Hahaha rowing without a shirt means punishment?! That sucks. The weather in Newport is nice 24/7. Probably why we would usually take our shirts off mid practice. I was at Coast in '07 & was in the 1st novice8 that went to the IRA that year and placed 9th. Not the boat in the vid. That was our 2nd novice8. Coast is the only junior college that rows competitively in the US.

Composite handles will tear your hands up for a week and then you get used to them.

AND Its not "cali" its California.

@P0WER10 At my team the varsity always took the composite before us novice got on the water, so we practiced with wood. We only row with composite at regattas. All our hands where bleeding.

@MysteriouslyMichele ...in my day it was all wood, (and no whining about it either). The blisters were awful to begin with, but our Coach poured white spirit or turps onto our hands (painful to start with) and they quickly became incredibly hard and blister proof... give it a try. :)
