  • Fuchikomas and tachikomas are not the same!

    *insert undue rage here*

  • I tried saying Bright Blinky Things 3 times fast but the third time I said Blight Brinky Things

  • What's the song in the begining ? 00:36

  • @6xSnake6x

Yes, could someone enlighten us to the name of this song? He said it was a scrapped intro, but does the song appear anywhere else in the game?

  • Actually Mark, the best way to play these games is to just set your mind on autopilot.... same thing works for most fighting games.

  • @S0ryiu Trust me, the last thing you want to do in Mars Matrix is set your mind on autopilot. You constantly need to watch what's coming at you and where you can go, otherwise you're dead.

  • @Quartrez In a bullet hell game, when I think: I die. When I zone out: I do no death runs.

  • @S0ryiu I guess different strategies work for different people

  • @S0ryiu Do you do no death runs when you zone out in Gradius ?

  • @Quartrez I'm not good at horizontal shmups, just vertical.

  • It reminds me a lot of Touhou

  • Urgg exp level only at 3 at stage 5, I know im been elistist but its so frustrating watching him playing this as his playing it totally wrong and making it much harder for himself. Basically you want to use your shot blast when you can, dont bomb as it takes ages to recharge instead quickly pick as many bullets as possible and fire it at the enemy and it makes a shit load of gold cubes.

  • been on a shmup binge lately and I'm wondering why hasnt Cave or Treasure worked out a Star Wars themed shooter like this or other shooters like this one??? Think of the music with a more techno beat or just the voice overs...I mean tons of options here... They tried a Star Trek one but..... well,.....

  • Great review to go along with what looks to be a fantastic game (I need a Dreamcast!)

Does anyone know where I can hear the song from the scrapped opening in its entirety? I would appreciate any help, thanks!

  • this is one of my favorite games of all time.

It was originally an arcade cabinet, i used to be able to beat this game in under $3 worth of quarters.

  • There is so much going on during the end bosses i didnt even notice that you had died until you had to continue.

  • I see you know your Ghost in the Shell Mark :D

  • This would've been more hard if the bullets weren't easily recognizable.

  • I agree, this game is brutally hard! Even by shooter standards. It's right up there with Ikaruga and R-Type. Altho Ikaruga is hard for other reasons.

  • OMG!

    You're funny mate.

I'm also fucking love this game!!!

  • great intro wish you do it in ur new videos sometimes

  • We invented the UI you use to make your games today! >:D (Windows and possibly Mac OS X lol)

  • @gladycarltonmh let me get this straight, you played a dreamcast game on your ps3.... lolol fail bot.

  • *raises hand*

  • This game contains Giant Enemy Crabs!

  • @KesorodaBlk well the game DOES have famous battles which actually took place in ancient Japan lol

  • @GaBB0256 :D

  • This game's great. I love how the bosses just let loose on you from the start.

  • This game is sheer torture, but great to watch!:D And bonus respect opints for mentioning milton in this!

  • i've played this on the arcades.

i also got the sound track!

  • yeah dorkforce is right. The trick is to release the gravity hole earlier: that way you can shoot the bullets back at you enemies and the bar gets filled up quicker, ready for another discharge.

  • I think it's safe to say that Mark seems like a really nice guy in real life. I bet he'd be a fun person to talk to.

  • hehe I'm a bit better at this than you ;D Don't use your entire gravity hole bomb at once. In a pinch use it for just a split second. You'll still get a second of invincibility to get thru the clump of shots. That way it won't drain the bar and it recharges in a moment so you can use it over and over again quickly. Also if you don't use the whole bar you can aim the shots back at the enemies (especially bosses) for many points to get more level up.

  • how he says about relaxing your eyes and avoiding the bright dots that's the perfect way to describe this game

  • Lol ive beaten this game.

  • *raises hand*

  • cool! :] I love these kinds of shooters. Yeah it does remind me of Milton's stapler from Office Space. What would be cool is if there was a bonus level and you had to fight a Milton robot or something. lol XD

  • I love this kind of game...especially since i get really good at them after a couple of tries and love showing off my skills to my friends.

  • Umm... As if Im not going to get this! XD

  • dude have u pitched ur voice down

  • nobody can go wrong with David Hasselhoff. you Americans have my endless respect for that. there's no dissing the Hoff.

  • You don't have to dodge everything. The beauty is in taking your opponents bullets and reflecting them back at them.

However, charging all the way clears the screen of enemies and bullets, pretty much so balance is key. After using your reflect, you have a second of invincibility so use it to get through difficult bullet patterns.

  • This game is kind of like Recca Summer Carnival '92 on the Famicom. Insane! I want to play Mars Matrix right now!

  • Awesome part 2 man! I sooooo want this game.

  • whats your feelings on combineing alcahol and a little weed with "Mars Matrix" & by "a little weed" i dont mean the skinny guy at the gym...

  • looks retardedly hard !!!

i mean...theres so much shit flying on the screen i really couldent dodge anything! o_O

  • Not bad. A few things though. First your pierce[the pink short-ranged blast]is far better then your normal bullets. I use that almost all the time [except on smaller ships]

Secondly, it's better to not charge the mosquito all the way. Charge for a few seconds, get bullets, reflect. Any of those bullets that hit an enemy become experience cubes.

Third, in the third level, I call the boss a GIANT ENEMY CRAB. Those 3 things on the right of the screen near the turrets are a "goldmine" for exp.

  • Yeah, Knight Rider! USA USA! We also invented the Odyssey and Atari Jaguar I think.

  • I'm not sure that's a god thing though, That's like saying we made the Sega CD.

  • I meant 32X.

  • Good point. Oh well, the Odyssey kicked ass in 1972 anyway.

  • sweet review, hehe ive never been into that type of gamne though i dno why, they just seem kinda cheesy for soem reason

  • that game looks EPIC

  • I usually dont like these kinds of games, at all, but this game looks sick! I never had a dreamcast, and I think I'd buy one just to check this game out!

  • Awesome. :D

  • 15th view great reveiew

  • i could never play that game for the soul reason of theres way too much shit on the screen i wouldnt pass the first lvl :D
