Its probably due to judging. The girl cant land a powerful enough strike on the boy to justify a point according to the judges. If the judges had been more lax, I would imagine the girl would score most of the points.
because at that pt of time if she move back she will be in the range of the kendo guy first before she get into her own range. (her weapon is only efficient at long range, but not the medium and short range)
@LuchesChan I know that but why does she keep moving in where the weapon's range is not in the first place. It's seems like she not only thrust the naginata but steps in as well so when she miss or gets parried she ends up screwed.
@tman229 I guess the only reason for that is most probably to increase her thrusting speed and range, althought it doesn't seem to work for her in this case (or she just fail badly), and there's a similar move in kendo that scarifices safety for attack speed and range
oh yah anothering when moving inwards after a thrust , it actually help to get her in range to strike at the head, althought if face with a more daring opponent they can just take one more step forward and negate that advangate
