When I was a child, I used to play with records like this. We had one that had three speeds. 45, 33/3. 78. I used to love the fast one, everyone sounded like a bunck of chipmunks, the slowest one was funny too.

I was in my 20s so it did not scare me. I first saw this on WYCC 20 in Chicago. WTTW 11 in Chicago would cut it off. Before this there was one with the plucking sound. They first changed the logo and later the music with the voice or did I imagine it since no one in "The Closing Logo Group" has mentioned it.

Really scary and hilarous PBS logo. I give it 600 out of 600. The last slow PBS logo sounds like Darth Vader. That is really funny! Do some more PBS logo fast and slow if you have time to do it.
