  • i like the shadow at 3:12

  • Just beautiful! Thanks so much for posting this excellent vid!

  • Szuper a felvétel! Londonból 24 óra alatt oda lehet érni.Fantasztikus egy élmény!

  • r these those double deck airplanes ? Wht ever u call them in fancy language ?

  • You started in Los Angeles and landed in Melbourne. How long was your flight?

  • @SuperDreamliner787 i think it takes around 15 hours. :)

  • @rustydevilll Yeah, it´s the same time I have flown in FSX with an A380 :-)

  • very nice!

I love vids where the aircraft shadow meets the proper aircraft

  • Really nice. i love this approach.

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO MANY MEMORIES OF MELBOURNE FLOODED BACK TO ME.AFTER 41 YEARS THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH

  • First time ive noticed that the back of the engines open up like that when reverse thrusters are engaged.

  • @j0hnp4u1 But you can´t see it in all aircrafts!

  • I wish all youtube aviation videos were as clear and as of good quality as this one.

This makes the viewing of a 747-400 touchdown all the more exciting! Good job here!

  • Great Job. Nice video...I hope to visit Australia one of these days...

  • Nice!

  • the shadow of the plane is amazing!!! So nice video!

  • Ok...it's a fatty landing....peachy work!

  • Fantstic! thanks for the vid, thumbs up!!

  • Well everyone I've saved up enough frequent flyer points & I'm going from Mildura to Perth in August & I hope to make a take off & landing video I just want to know if I'll have any problems going through security with my camcorder & having it on while taking off.

  • I Still Call Australia Home :)

  • what seat row was this? im looking around row 27

  • @RichT08 I was in Business, 24A

  • @evanylee thanks im looking around 27A just behind in economy :) same kinda view i presume

  • @evanylee business isnt aligned with the wing, you'd be 30 meters infront if that was business

  • The engines sound beautiful.

The pilot was working that EPR real nice!!!.)

  • Nice video.......Fantastic!!!

  • That's good.

  • Wow, Lovely Two Engines of Window.

  • from the air Melbourne Is So ARID :o

But that is what makes Australia ....,Australia

    :)

  • I made this flight in April. QF108 from New York to LAX, then QF94 from from LAX to Melbourne. Left at 5.15pm on Fri eve and arrived at 8.30am on Sun morn. Too weird. Made the same trip on United in December. Both good airlines, but Qantas wins: better in-flight entertainment, better food and you don't have to stop over in Sydney. United does have Channel 9 which allows you to listen to the ATC - pretty cool.

  • it is an 747-400ER

  • Tax book landing...

    Right on the trash hold.

    Nice vid.

  • Beauty.

  • in simple terms 747's and a380 have the size and range suitable for this route. simple

  • i could run from ymml-klax in 13 minutes not hours ahahahaha im sooo funny...lmao

  • why does qantas use a380s and 747s for lax i went on on a boeing 777 300er vaustralia

  • um what a stupid post, qantas carries more passengers than V Australia so it more suitable to use larger planes

  • no i ment why doesnt qnatas use 767s or 737s!

  • @smashthetrash34

Qantas does use 767s and 737s but, they are not suitable for the Melbourne - Klax route.

  • why

  • @smashthetrash34

Because they can't cover the distance that this route is.

  • oh but how come before v australia was built they used virgin blue 737's to klax

  • Virgin blue only fly's Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

  • no they use to but now theve got v australia whatch the vigin blue add/ qut

  • Dude, Even before they had Virgin Blue they had Virgin Atlantic. Why would they fly Virgin Blue to KLAX? The cost of a ticket flying to KLAX with a Virgin Blue 737 would be a great amount. It never happened and it never will.

  • what ever who realy gives a fuck

  • The distance from MEL to LAX is around 6500miles, a 737 or 320 can only fly around 2500Mi. A767 can do about 5000Mi.....that's why its simple math....

  • okay kid we have solved this problem now fuck off

  • Hey fuck you shitty stupid dirty aussy

  • im not australian kika de faz

  • well then speak English mr. kika de faz

  • im not english im italian and kika de fuz meen s goonty fuz

  • Fuck you youngfart - You assume because he swore at you (after you were a smart-arse to him) that he was a "dirty aussie"? The fact that he swore at you does not at all mean he's an Australian, and as an Aussie myself I take offense to that assumption - not all, in fact the majority, of Australians are not insultive or bad people. That's not to mention the completely racist reference you made, generalising us as 'dirty'. Don't insult an entire country - you probably haven't even met one of us.

  • @smashthetrash34 Probably because the A380 and 747 can carry more passengers, and that equals less Kg of fuel burnt per passenger.

  • @smashthetrash34 oh stop your fucking whinging

  • Where did you takeoff?

  • from KLAX (Los Angeles)

  • thats a quite smooth landing!!

  • nice job. it's very rare to see the landing of a 450 tonne airplane, go as smoothe as that.

  • give it up to Qantas You can only do that on manual No I.L.S. there

  • the plane isn't landing with 450 tones on bored thats it's maximum weight.

  • It's true what they Say the 747 Is the queen of the sky's while the A380 is the beast

  • No the biggest plane in the world the Antonov 225 is the king of the skies.

  • Nice landing! That was so smooth.

  • Virgin Blue better but this vid is good

  • virgin atlantic my friend

  • lol hi and its actually Virgin Blue lol.

  • I don't mean the airline im saying i like virgin atlantic :)

  • Qantas and Virgin atlantic my friend ;)

  • oh my god, look at that massive shadow!

  • great video im a flight attendant with qantas. cheers.

  • one of the best videos i've seen in a long time!

  • nice!!!

    5/5

  • It may not seem apparent at first, but when you are looking out the window, from you to the wing tip is a good 70+ feet's distance, b/c a Boeing 747-400 has a wingspan of 211 ft 5 in.

  • awesome video looks like a pretty good landing

  • sounds safe better than airbus 380

  • what a nice place for a golf course. hit your ball and jet blast takes it a mile away

  • @yopapa60 lol thats true,,,nice one;)

  • Oh wow! Melbourne! You know that have cafes down laneways and trams...its ooohh so chic! Port Philip swamp looks so pretty from the air! Given the destination, did they actually manage to fill a 747?

  • Economy was packed, but I was fortunate enough for the client to buy us Business class tickets. It was empty in Business. Also I learned that plugging in a MacBook Pro's power adapter in the outlets causes the circuitbreaker to trip on the 747-400

  • Did you keep sliping when you tried to go to sleep

  • Yeah, the seats didn't fold flat. It was at a slight angle

  • Doesnt sound so safe :P

  • Qantas Business Class is horrible compared to Ethiad

  • Great video, really enjoyed it! =)

  • nice!!!!

  • business class is the best shit ever but you cant get a good view of the wing but im still gonna fly business

  • Were you sitting in business class?

  • Yes I was. Awesome business class!

  • Thanks! I`m gonna fly with Qantas in october soon too! Also with the Boeing 747-400 from Frankfurt to Sydney.

    I can`t wait! =D

  • Beautiful vidéo 5/5 + favourite ! View Jet engine great !

  • Awesome video!!!

  • I was on a Cathay Pacific A330 and I apparently found a very familiar house and street. :D

  • How was LA

  • Work work. Was in the air longer than in LA

  • nice landing:)

  • where did you fly from

  • Los Angeles

  • NIce sound ! Great video!

  • I love the 747. The sound is awesome!

  • wauw the shadow

  • Took this same flight a few years back from LAX. Awesome plane. Great flight.

  • These are GE-CF6 engines! I can tell by the whine and sound of the reverse thrust. Turns out Qantas has 747-400 models for both GE and RR engines

  • i love qantas

  • wonderful vid

  • love the 747.

  • The A380 Is now operating this route. ER is Extended Range.

  • Was this a 747-400ER?

  • Probably. I think the ER only flies the KLAX-YMML route

  • I never get sick of watching this video Qantas is simply the best I fly with them all the time from Mildura to Melbourne, Sure they may have had some bad press lately but when you look at it there has never been a major crash where people's lives have been lost.

  • Love the video... Stunning sounds

  • mainly the whole plain is runnig by itself, the pilots just have to land it and takeoff, after that everything from gps to turn in auto!

  • what are you talking about pilots have to monitor all systems constantly, taxi the aircraft, watch for other aircraft, listen and follow ATC's instructions so uhh no the plane isn't running by itself.

  • Comment removed

  • That is bull.

You fly too much on sim?

  • Just watch the ITVV Virgin Atlantic 747 Series. You can find it on youtube. Once you watch the one with John collum, you will see how wrong you are.

  • I was too lazy to talk sense into you but since you wanted me to..

[You sent me a long message therefore I shall reply there since the character count here is too low]

  • where else u can watch or get these info?

  • Really, this is true. The only time pilots use the auto-landing is on a really calm day. When the weather is just slightly windy, pilots land themselves.

  • True, i guess. They might also use an auto land during like a really really foggy day just as a means of lining up with the runway. Or maybe on an ILS as well

  • We hardly ever use auto-land on a nice day. It ruins the fun of landing. We use auto land when visibility is extremely low, and also when there is wind shear on final that may compromise the pilot's control on landing.

  • Are you a pilot with qantas?

  • Me? I got a message that you replied to my comment. If you were talking to me, no, I am a 757 Captain for Delta Airlines based in JFK

  • Delta Airline was a great airline, does your 757 has a LCD screens mounted on the back of all passenger seats on your plane? last time I've flew Delta it was a 757 and we each have our own TV which is cool

  • Yes, I love flying for Delta. It's one of the best airlines in the U.S. I don't fly the same 757 on every route. I also fly the 767 on a few routes. But from what I have seen, yes there are LCD screens mounted on the back of the seats.

  • 767 300 ER is one of the best plane that I've flew on other than the voice computer in the coctpit that sometime hassle, last time I've flew Delta, we went from Phoenix to Atlanta, Georgia, from Georgia to Orlando.

  • I see that Delta Airlines is now flying into Australia it's a shame that you're only flying into Sydney as Melbourne airport is so much better, The Domestic & International terminals are all in the 1 building plus Melbourne airport operates 24 hours a day aw we have no airport curfew. I took a flight out of Sydney once & I'll never do it again I shouldn't have to go from 1 airport to another just to get a international flight.

  • True. If Delta sees a profit from the Sydney route, and more of a demand for a Melbourne route, they may begin one.

  • The CEO of Melbourne Airport has stated that Melbourne is terribly undeserved when it comes to flights to the US & Victorians shouldn't have to fly to Sydney to get a US flight, We only have flights to LA so If you want to go to New York or San Francisco you have to go to Sydney to get that direct flight.

  • Or, you could fly to LA and get a connection to New York or San Francisco. That would probably take the same amount of time

  • you would still have a stop-over in LA if you were going to New York

  • like it when the pilots play with the engines

  • What do you mean

  • just on approach...when they throttle them up and down.

  • Oh yeah, they have to xD

  • I think it was the autothrottle adjusting thrust for the different flap settings and landing gear

  • Considering many 747's fly over my house, I'm curious to know whether one of those familiar landmarks *houses* are mine. :) Great video.

  • one word sums up this incrediable video... EXCELLENT:P that sound is amazing!!!!

  • Qantas is one of my favourite airlines! And this video is so cool! I love that shadow. Where were you flying from?

  • Thanks! Los Angeles

  • Excellent Video.

  • Just saw old school at 3:04 loll. ahhh the benefits of living in the northwest

  • what a smooth landing...

  • Excellent video evanylee ! Picture quality was superb

  • beautiful landing(L)

  • I love Qantas,THEY ROCK!

  • Really nice video, great views. Love the 747 forever! Xcellent!

    Nice landing too :)

  • The thing that really annoys me is that I don't understand why more international airlines don't fly into Melbourne the airport is way better than Sydney as It's all in the one building & it operates 24/7 with no curfews.

  • yea sydney is way to complicated and squashed together. Melbourne is better than sydney. i love melbourne airport

  • I normally only go through Melbourne airport about once a year when I fly down from Mildura but I'm saving up my frequant flyer points so I can have that overseas I've always wanted.

  • im going there in 2 days!!!

  • i like how the planes shadow and the plane came to connect together on landing approach :)

  • This is a 747-400ER that you flew on here. I can tell because of the General Electric engines.

  • Some of the no ER 744s have GE's too

  • Love Qantas!

  • Nice shadow~!

  • Great Vid!

  • yes qantas are great.

    nice landing :)

  • Another impressive landing by Qantas. Best pilots in the world :)

  • I agree QANTAS is the Best.

  • most definitely!!!!!

Lauda Air is another fantastic one!!!

    Ansett was good too
