Great video footage of Qantas 747-400 landing at Melbourne International Airport. Thumbs Up ! I feel also the Boeing 747-400 & A380-800 Airbus is better for long distance travel.Than the smaller 2 engine passenger jets to Los Angeles. They are better size passenger jet and handle the weather conditions better I feel.Which makes it a safer trip & more people can travel at a time on 747 & A380.Cheers.Marc Jones..Los Angeles,U.S.A.(Aussie Vocalist)
Well everyone I've saved up enough frequent flyer points & I'm going from Mildura to Perth in August & I hope to make a take off & landing video I just want to know if I'll have any problems going through security with my camcorder & having it on while taking off.
I made this flight in April. QF108 from New York to LAX, then QF94 from from LAX to Melbourne. Left at 5.15pm on Fri eve and arrived at 8.30am on Sun morn. Too weird. Made the same trip on United in December. Both good airlines, but Qantas wins: better in-flight entertainment, better food and you don't have to stop over in Sydney. United does have Channel 9 which allows you to listen to the ATC - pretty cool.
Dude, Even before they had Virgin Blue they had Virgin Atlantic. Why would they fly Virgin Blue to KLAX? The cost of a ticket flying to KLAX with a Virgin Blue 737 would be a great amount. It never happened and it never will.
The distance from MEL to LAX is around 6500miles, a 737 or 320 can only fly around 2500Mi. A767 can do about 5000Mi.....that's why its simple math....
Fuck you youngfart - You assume because he swore at you (after you were a smart-arse to him) that he was a "dirty aussie"? The fact that he swore at you does not at all mean he's an Australian, and as an Aussie myself I take offense to that assumption - not all, in fact the majority, of Australians are not insultive or bad people. That's not to mention the completely racist reference you made, generalising us as 'dirty'. Don't insult an entire country - you probably haven't even met one of us.
It may not seem apparent at first, but when you are looking out the window, from you to the wing tip is a good 70+ feet's distance, b/c a Boeing 747-400 has a wingspan of 211 ft 5 in.
Oh wow! Melbourne! You know that have cafes down laneways and trams...its ooohh so chic! Port Philip swamp looks so pretty from the air! Given the destination, did they actually manage to fill a 747?
Economy was packed, but I was fortunate enough for the client to buy us Business class tickets. It was empty in Business. Also I learned that plugging in a MacBook Pro's power adapter in the outlets causes the circuitbreaker to trip on the 747-400
I never get sick of watching this video Qantas is simply the best I fly with them all the time from Mildura to Melbourne, Sure they may have had some bad press lately but when you look at it there has never been a major crash where people's lives have been lost.
what are you talking about pilots have to monitor all systems constantly, taxi the aircraft, watch for other aircraft, listen and follow ATC's instructions so uhh no the plane isn't running by itself.
Really, this is true. The only time pilots use the auto-landing is on a really calm day. When the weather is just slightly windy, pilots land themselves.
True, i guess. They might also use an auto land during like a really really foggy day just as a means of lining up with the runway. Or maybe on an ILS as well
We hardly ever use auto-land on a nice day. It ruins the fun of landing. We use auto land when visibility is extremely low, and also when there is wind shear on final that may compromise the pilot's control on landing.
Delta Airline was a great airline, does your 757 has a LCD screens mounted on the back of all passenger seats on your plane? last time I've flew Delta it was a 757 and we each have our own TV which is cool
Yes, I love flying for Delta. It's one of the best airlines in the U.S. I don't fly the same 757 on every route. I also fly the 767 on a few routes. But from what I have seen, yes there are LCD screens mounted on the back of the seats.
767 300 ER is one of the best plane that I've flew on other than the voice computer in the coctpit that sometime hassle, last time I've flew Delta, we went from Phoenix to Atlanta, Georgia, from Georgia to Orlando.
I see that Delta Airlines is now flying into Australia it's a shame that you're only flying into Sydney as Melbourne airport is so much better, The Domestic & International terminals are all in the 1 building plus Melbourne airport operates 24 hours a day aw we have no airport curfew. I took a flight out of Sydney once & I'll never do it again I shouldn't have to go from 1 airport to another just to get a international flight.
The CEO of Melbourne Airport has stated that Melbourne is terribly undeserved when it comes to flights to the US & Victorians shouldn't have to fly to Sydney to get a US flight, We only have flights to LA so If you want to go to New York or San Francisco you have to go to Sydney to get that direct flight.
The thing that really annoys me is that I don't understand why more international airlines don't fly into Melbourne the airport is way better than Sydney as It's all in the one building & it operates 24/7 with no curfews.
I normally only go through Melbourne airport about once a year when I fly down from Mildura but I'm saving up my frequant flyer points so I can have that overseas I've always wanted.
Why do I have that felling whenever I am flying I a get a felling that the wings will fall off when they shake :P

why does qantas use a380s and 747s for lax i went on on a boeing 777 300er vaustralia
smashthetrash34 2 years ago
um what a stupid post, qantas carries more passengers than V Australia so it more suitable to use larger planes
rhettski999 2 years ago

smashthetrash34 2 years ago
@smashthetrash34
Qantas does use 767s and 737s but, they are not suitable for the Melbourne - Klax route.

why
smashthetrash34 2 years ago
@smashthetrash34
Because they can't cover the distance that this route is.
