  • nomadic was part of quartet of ships white star built before the olympic class. but after cunards maruentania, lusitania and aquitania were launched, white star ordered the building of the olympic, titanic and britannic.

  • correction Titanic was the last of the White Star Line before torpedoed and sitting off Greece . The Olympic was the first and only long running line before Cunard Lines bought out White Star Line in 1936... The Britannic was only in service for two years before attack

  • @valeriee65 Uh... I thought Titanic hit an iceberg BEFORE the war even started!

  • he was retired in 1934 and scrapped in 1935 but i think the scrap staryed at the end of 1934.

  • The Britannic was to be the grandest of the Olympic Class ships. Why World War I broke out, what the people see in war, I'll never know!

  • Britannic and Aquitania were the most beautiful ships ever built if Britannic would served as passengership..

  • the olympic was scrapped in 1934 with the mauretania, britannic sank in 1916

  • @renaud3306 i think you meant 1935, the olympic was scrapped 1935

  • history facts people...the Olympic was the first and longest running ship White Star Line built and then scrapped.....Titanic the 2nd and you know what happened there...the 3rd and last one White Star Line built was the Brittanic which only lasted two years before torpedoed and still sits at bottom of Key Coast near Greece...Cunard bought out White Star in 1936 and own all rights...The Aquitania is the Cunard Line and sister ship of the Maurentania and the Lusitania (The Lucy) The Olympic loved

  • @valeriee65 Brittanic which only lasted two years before getting mined and still sits at bottom of Key Coast near Greece

  • 5 people need to see a doctor... This the best video of Britannic I've ever seen!

  • @sphinxrising58

Only 7 people died "aboard" her, I say aboard but really they stupidly lowered a lifeboat whilst the propellors were still in motion, so my opinion is that nobody died aboard her

  • Olympic was the first of the Olympic class ships, and the longest lived; she met her fate in the scrapyard in the late '30's.

Titanic was the second of the Olympic class ships and the shortest lived; she met her fate on her maiden voyage.

Britannic was the third and final of the Olympic class ships; she served first as a troop transport and later as a hospital ship. It should be noted that she was the most luxurious troop transport of ANY war.

  • my name is Hunter davies and i was on the Britannic it was awesome apart the sinking i was crying when the torpedo was coming towards us that day :(:(:(:(:(

i was aloud on the bridge cause my mum was talking to the captain and i was watching them drive some of the kids got to go on a tour and they got to steer the ship for 5 min i did i was going straight, but 1 of the workers were helping us thow the day the torpedo was coming iwas in my cabin and i felt the ship turning i went the bridge

  • @thebreezeful

You idiot! You aren't Hunter! And the Britannic hit a mine, not sunk by a torpedo! No one is allowed on the bridge, except for members of the crew! You cant drive that hulk of precious metal! Kids aren't even allowed on the ship! They use grammar, and would NEVER post on youtube, on a ship's video that you were on that sank! Go get a life, foolish child!

  • The Olympic was the only known olympic class liner to actualy do waht she was designed to do and have a long carrer. The britannic was unk in 1915 by german u boat U-20 and the olympic was withdfrawn from service in 1935 in which she was laid up in fronmt of the olympic in southampton as she was caterloged and so forth. Her engine bed plates were as smoth as thery were the first day she sailed, however the stress cracks are soemthing of a mith really people say she ahd them and others say she d

  • Britannic would have made a beautiful addition to the White Star Line, and may led them back to success had she survived the war.

  • This is very well done. I just have one question.... Where did you get the video from? I've searched everywhere for it, but I can't find it.

  • whats the name of the song?AWESOME VIDEO AND SONG!!!!!

  • I'm not a sucker for supersticion for anything but I think the Olympic class ships were cursed

  • Its funny you say that...Titanic is the best example....these ships were said to be so unsinkable, that god himself couldnt sink these ships. Ironically, Titanic was named after Titan, who killed anyone who said he was weak. Saying god couldnt sink these ships was the flaw. lol

  • @samdonelly7 i think its a coincidence

  • Comment removed

  • where is this footage from??

  • Its from the pathetic 2000 film Britannic in my opinion its a cheap imitation of titanic

  • they were going to call it "gigantic" but after titanic they decided to change it, because titanic was emant to convey size and they feared god would eb angry if they made another one boadtign zie

  • It would more likely have been called gigantic if at its time of launching it was the biggest in the world, but it wasn't. the German liners were larger so Gigantic wouldn't have been a very good name.

Britannic was also the name of one of white star lines early liners from the 1800's and it had a very succesful career so they named it after this ship, the name also had a patriotic ring about it.

  • no actually, it is a known fact thatr is why they changed the name to birttanic, it was only called brittanic because they decided to make ti patriotic after the name change

  • @suprac19 there are records that gigantic(britannic) was supposely to be intended to be 1000ft long but after the titanic sank they reduced the length and theres also fact saying the real length of britannic was 903ft not 882ft.

  • @09adge13 That is quite interesting, one problem though would be the dry dock at harland and wolff as it was just large enough to take the olympic class ships so a 1000ft liner would not fin in it, i don't think a 903ft ship would fit either, i may be wrong though.

  • @09adge13 I think it's a rumor not a true fact.

  • R.I.P britannic and all who sailed on her

  • actually the last olympic class ship was olympic the scrapped her when ww1 ended

  • I know 1935 wasn't it? Anyway I actually mean the last one to be built

  • @samborghini Olympic was withdrawn from service on May 14 1935 I thought. Just four days after White Star and Cunard Line merged in one company. I have read that they tried to keep the Olympic, but Olympic was tired and her structure was weak. This was the same thing by the Mauretania to. I have also read that Bruce Ismay tried to save the Olympic, but there was no money..

  • @samborghini actally after WWII it was scrapped, if i remember right, it served in both wars!

  • @ThekingofiMacs check your history mate :) you might be getting confused with the Aquitania?

  • @samborghini yeah the aquitania was scrapped in 56 i think

  • @Jakanddaxter1999 The Aquitania was retired and scrapped in 1950 in Scotland, she was scrapped as the last four funnelled passenger ship. Thus ending an illustrious career which included steaming 3 million miles in 450 voyages. Aquitania carried 1.2 million passengers over a career that spanned nearly 36 years, making her the longest serving Express Liner of the 20th Century.

  • @ThekingofiMacs the Olympic only served in the first world war, it was scrapped in 1937

  • @blakesnearey96 it's 1935! Go on wikipedia site, write RMS Olympic and about it(P.S the first part is true, second not true.)

  • @marianamarianiful That's right, sorry. I meant to put 5 that day, but i was in a rush.

  • I think samborghini means the last Olympic Class ship built.

  • no, titanic, olympic and britannic were the only olympic class ships

  • Wait, they made a movie about the Britannic?

  • its not the last, the nomadic is still afloat today

  • Nomadic wasn't an Olympic Class Liner she was just a tender to them.

  • oh, i thought the olympic class was the entire white star line nickname for the ships

  • nah, Olympic class was only he three ships that were practically identical to each other :)

  • Great song, great video!

  • dude i watch this about every day

  • You must like it then?

  • are u kiding Britannicis my favorite ship

  • loved the music. it fits the tone of this vid.

  • that is not titanic

  • Who said it was Titanic?

  • The tital says the last of the olympic class, and the titanic was olny the second one in that class of ship.

  • this is the Britanic, not the Titanic.., in any case, the loss of all of these sister is a great shame.

  • Yes, in my previus comment i was agreeing with you and backing up your point.

  • i love that boat

  • its a ship not a boad ^^

  • WHAT´s is the song?

  • White Flag by Dido.

  • beautiful!!

  • Such a beautiful Ship, shame she was lost. I wonder if for historical purposes she will be raised, or a fourth Olympic class liner built? 5 STARS!

  • I seriously doubt she will be raised due to the state of deteroartion she is in, plus in respect to thos who did persish on her.

I also doubt that they will make another like her in light that ships of her class have been surpassed a thousand times over, hence, would not be a profitable venture.

  • yes you are right a bout those who have perished, however there was a documentary on the discovery, and history channel, about the condition, and possibility of her being either raised or another one being built. And not to be disrespectful to you she has only been surpassed by the invention diesel engines. She is still faster, and more seaworthy then a modern day floating shoe-box, but we all also have are own opinions.

  • Granted, you will get no aurgument from me over you calling modern ships shoeboxes or less sea worthy due to most being top heavy, but as far as being slower than the ships of days gone by, speed is not really a factor on a cruise ship. Would not give the geese thier money's worth, nor be economical considering fuel prices these days.

  • You are correct speed is not an issue, i was just saying she was as fast as them 23knts to be true.

  • Would not be a profitable venture?! A full-scale seaworthy Titanic replica, heck, a permanently docked Titanic replica, would make a killing in profits.

  • A ). The ship wuld cost more to rebuild than the original did.

B ). More modern day former cruise ships being used as tourist spots ( ships just as famous as Titanic ) are just barely breaking even, with some even losing money.

It would not be economical viable.

  • Name for me one ship that even comes close to being as famous as the Titanic. Then we could take a look at how many books, movies, and exhibits are devoted to the ship you name, and we'll see how it shapes up against the Titanic. I'll be waiting patiently for the good laugh I should get out of your answer.

  • How about the Queen Mary I & II for starters ?

Then there is that brand new ship they just launched, which would dawf the Titanic in every way possible, both in size & luxury, lol

As I aid before, it would be economically unviable.

  • lmao.....The Black Pearl

  • 2011 is the official launch date.
