We have to spends almost $200,000 to dig them up to see if they suffered? Get a grip! The method of culling these animals is legal. We could have used that money to feed the LIVING animals already in shelters!

Respond to this video...It's interesting how people develop physiological and/or psychological problems when they stand to chance of jail time or being charged. Dose of reality for some of you. These dogs are not PEOPLE! Animals are bred provide a service, food and companionship. Not companionship only. We routinely kill animals everyday for our consumption, etc. They are no less than these dogs. However, some put them in the same category as people or even higher. Not realistic in my opinion. Animals are legally shot, trapped, and clubbed (fish) everyday and these dogs are no different. The owner had the right. They were his property.

As a rule, I find that people who care about the welfare of animals also care as deeply as for their fellow man. There's hundreds of people that would have taken in the dogs and I myself work at a kennel and we dont have ENOUGH sled dogs this season...... half our kennels are empty
@Potatonaught My suspicion is they did not want competition to have the dogs. The employee who was also owner of the business at one time,was on the board of a sledding organization that could have helped in the search for homes for the dogs. It's possible he was a part owner at the time of the incident but I have not heard any clarification on that. I imagine you would have paid for good quality dogs. I question the employees sanity

ummm, there is a big difference between animals that we eat and dogs. Do you eat dogs? No, I didn't think so. Why not? Because you know the difference. @OutdoorAdventuresBC - In a joint statement with Bob Fawcett, the butcher, you claimed "considerable" efforts were made to adopt the dogs, without success. Can you provide the names of the organizations you contacted and when? You also claim these dogs "live" to run and would have had to be kept in cages for the rest of their lives. This excuse doesn't wash. Greyhounds are also raised to run, and thanks to greyhound rescue groups, most find loving homes and become happy couch potatoes.
I am so glad that people are discussing this ugly, inexcusable, disgusting event. Dogs need us to speak for them, and defend them when something this cruel happens. But, dogs are dogs. They are not religious, and don't believe in a "god". (that is what makes them so wonderful) They need to be defended on the basis of basic humanity, not on the basis of a book or a religion. Fundamental rights of animals go beyond religion.

I was extremely disturbed by the news of this. BOYCOTT OUTDOOR ADVENTURES WHISTLER, not the town of whistler itself. Petition to change Federal and Provincial Canadian laws regarding working livestock, and ALL animals in general. Stricter punishment, hefty fines and incarceration for ALL those who harm an animal in such an inhumane way. Hopefully new regulations will be on the horizon.

@UnknownShadow718 Got to CBC Vancouver and read the Worksafe BC report. Something doesn't add up regarding the employees attempts to find homes for the dogs. He said he was asked to cull 100 from the herd on April 21, and began killing them that day. So when did he try to find homes for them? It also states that a vet was contacted, but refused to euthanize healthy animals. I don't think any attempts were made to find homes for them. This all came to light because the guy had his cliam denied.

Respond to this video...It's interesting how people develop physiological and/or psychological problems when they stand to chance of jail time or being charged. They are just as lame as the politicians who create a lie to get out of the responsibility for what they did. I'm sure he wasn't happy to do what he did, but he sure as shit knew the reality of sled dogs. And that culling is a necessary part of management. The dogs are property. Dose of reality for some of you. These dogs are not PEOPLE! Animals are bred provide a service, food and companionship. Not companionship only. We routinely kill animals everyday for our consumption, etc. They are no less than these dogs. However, some put them in the same category as people or even higher. Not realistic in my opinion. Animals are legally shot, trapped, and clubbed (fish) everyday and these dogs are no different. The owner had the right. They were his property.

although that man chose to do what he did it was mostly the company's fault. There was an intense ammount of pressureand if he didnt do it, someone else would. But this company that owns the kennels has been under investigation for a longass time or so I've heard.
There's hundreds of people that would have taken in the dogs and I myself work at a kennel and we dont have ENOUGH sled dogs this season...... half our kennels are empty

The employee who was also owner of the business at one time,was on the board of a sledding organization that could have helped in the search for homes for the dogs. It's possible he was a part owner at the time of the incident but I have not heard any clarification on that. I imagine you would have paid for good quality dogs. I question the employees sanity

The choice between starving and eating Rover would be a pretty easy one for me. A bullet to the head, is a legal method for killing an animal. Google hunting, I'm sure you'll find something on it. Hell, people hunt with bows and that's pretty slow death sometimes. Nowhere near as quick as bullet to the head. Personally, I think killing for fun is wrong.

Can you provide the names of the organizations you contacted and when? You also claim these dogs "live" to run and would have had to be kept in cages for the rest of their lives. This excuse doesn't wash. Greyhounds are also raised to run, and thanks to greyhound rescue groups, most find loving homes and become happy couch potatoes.

I am so glad that people are discussing this ugly, inexcusable, disgusting event. Dogs need us to speak for them, and defend them when something this cruel happens. But, dogs are dogs. They are not religious, and don't believe in a "god". (that is what makes them so wonderful) They need to be defended on the basis of basic humanity, not on the basis of a book or a religion. Fundamental rights of animals go beyond religion.

I was extremely disturbed by the news of this. BOYCOTT OUTDOOR ADVENTURES WHISTLER, not the town of whistler itself. Petition to change Federal and Provincial Canadian laws regarding working livestock, and ALL animals in general. Stricter punishment, hefty fines and incarceration for ALL those who harm an animal in such an inhumane way. Hopefully new regulations will be on the horizon.

@UnknownShadow718 Got to CBC Vancouver and read the Worksafe BC report. Something doesn't add up regarding the employees attempts to find homes for the dogs. He said he was asked to cull 100 from the herd on April 21, and began killing them that day. So when did he try to find homes for them? It also states that a vet was contacted, but refused to euthanize healthy animals. I don't think any attempts were made to find homes for them. This all came to light because the guy had his cliam denied.

recently in B.C - 3 cats burned with turpentine- dog shot in eye crawls 2 miles home to abuser- starving doberman near death- dog looses leg in car dragging- dog found in suitcase in dumpster - puppy beaten to death in motel- dog found in ice dumped on lawn- all within the past 2 months! Now today THIS! and guess what CEO of BC SPCA is focused on- Building a multi-million dollar shelter in Surrey which the mayor says may be "A Colossal Waste of Money" -- Is it just me or should ppl resign??

hey, I know.. why don't we empty all the animal shelters in this country, turn our old abandoned mills, that used to feed us, into slaughter houses and feed the world.. skin'em, freeze'em, dry'em, package'em and ship'em.. turn a drain on our society into a good while providin' those who eat cats and dogs, cats and dogs to eat.. see, the world IS different, we're NOT all the same, as they would have you believe.. I can't compete with those that eat cats and dogs.. just a thought..

@Dewdaahman Maybe we can do the same with all of the homeless and unemployed people in the world? Some people consider them to be a drain on our society too. A life is a life. What makes you think that you are more entitled to your life than a cat or a dog is entitled to theirs?

@Mamic82 we we're given dominion over the animals, the fish of the seas and all that creepeth upon the earth.. we were not given dominion to have cockfights, dogfights, etc,nor to be cruel to the animals.. I'd look at how chickens, calves and turkeys are raised before rattlin' my cage about feedin' folks with meat which happens to be th result of alot of neglect and abuse done to animals by irresponsible people who are not held responsible for their actions, and non-actions..

@Dewdaahman Whether we were given dominion over the other animals or we evolved to be the dominant species on this planet is very debatable. Whatever the case, I agree that humans do not have the right to be cruel to animals. I know how chickens, cows, sheep, etc are treated in factory farms and it disgust me too. I’m not the one suggesting we subject even more animals to this horrible practice.
