    we, kids, actually sang to the tune of this song '"Let there always be vodka, kielbasa, herrings and Pamir cigarettes; only then will there be Peace!" (It rhymed in Russian).

    I bet everybody in my generation either sang or heard these words. . He-he, where are those good old days :-)

  • It was originally a Russian children's song "Let there always be sunshine" (Пусть всегда будет солнце). The song regarded as an anthem of the Soviet Pioneers and was sung by quite a few generations of Soviet children. The lyrics were a usual for that time propaganda tool, but the music is beautiful, to my mind.

    Notably, with Russian children, who often were forced to sing this song in schools, summer camps and functions, it was popular with a different sort of lyrics. (continued)

  • The original song is a famous russian song - "Let the sun be forever". The music was copied by Hootenanny singers.
