A Computer company ran by Steve Jobs after he originally left Apple, they made its own Computers and OS. DooM LITERALLY did stop the world. Most if not almost all kids were focusing on playing it rather than homework (big surprise :P). Many adults with lower to higher class jobs were attempting to spend as much free time as possible playing it (work time also). I can imagine several people lost their jobs over it, causing work effenciency to plummet, thus making less money. Plus it made many many people (like me) slower and very lazy, thus putting the earth to a wheel burning halt.

Hey could anyone possibly tell me what this old PC FPS game is if I describe it?

It's environments were mostly green and 3D, the weapons and enemies were 2D that usually stuck to one basic color, it supported 2 player Co-Op on the PC. Also it had elevators.

I remember playing with a friend a while back but I completely forgot the name of it. Might've been a game published by Interplay (cause he also had battlechess) but I don't really know.
