@Rymonster People make fun of me for loving this movie, but there's nothing cheesy about it... and it helps that Virginia Madsen is the most goregous woman on the planet.
@MrPhyrestorm He didn't kill himself. He took over one radio station before transforming into the Internet everyone's using today. At least that's what I think he did.
This movie has so many metaphors. Now a days lots of people prefer to sit in front of computers to talking to real people. Back then children were still in the streets with their bikes and baseball gloves. Today, nintendo, xbox, psp, ps3, gameboy etc etc etc. This guy chooses the girl over the computer. 2 weeks with no phone and no TV...damn.

@MrDamion66 It was sad until the computer came back alive and the Phillip Oakey song started playing... not to mention the good guy gets the girl at the end.
Anyone knows where to find the music that is played while EDGAR is talking his last words with him? (is the same music from when he learns to talk and wakes him up - music composed by Giorgio Moroder - I am not talking about the song from the end)
well this one of my fave films of all time but hey watch your windows you never know lol nah they modern romance songs my teenage time god at this time of life i only had a zx spectrum lol
@irishbear76 Weren't you happy as a child to hear edgar alive on the radio? I love happy endings. I probably wouldn't watch it half as much if it ended with the blow out. Maybe not at all. Depressors get few views by me.
@irishbear76 It's funny the things we think we're supposed to be embarrassed about. Feelings shouldn't be an embarrassment. And if its a movie, it just means there's a gifted writer and actors behind it. I used to be embarrassed that I watched kids cartoons even in adulthood without kids. But not anymore. Why should I? Maybe that's what makes me a good writer. Afterall children didn't create the childish cartoons. I'd love to have that measure of success.
@irishbear76 embarassed?? ;) This was the only thing that made me cry and I was 9 years old ... I am 28 now .. never cried ever since .. and not with human casualties... I just dont understand why this happened .. and still does... if I need no cry... just watch this ending !!! The only thing that makes me cry ... And that's awesome you called your daughter Madeleine ehehehe :D It had a huge impact on you.... You just did not noticed ;)
thanks for the movie =) this was one of my favourite movies wen i was a kid i got the tape but its dirty so i cant watch it =) thank you so much 81682 bar for posting this vid =) i really apreciate it !
@cornwelj same here. Got into computer music .. and to question the human mind... my favourite 2 movies... this one and SEVEN ;) First time I saw this one as a kid ... and heard Edgar speak about self destructing cuz of loving Madeleine ... I cried like a little baby and felt so damn empty inside.... and man .. I can see horrors movies without closing my eyes.. I saw humans die and I did not cry ... somebody explain the subconscious effect of this movie ??? Saw this final clip and cried :X
@vinnyvnin Google your dvd player model number and see if there is a hack code for it. If there is, all you'll need to do is punch the numbers into your dvd player remote and it should set the player itself to be region free (so you can play any dvd on it). I did that with both of mine.
Always felt more emotion for the robots in cinema. Loved this movie and Edgar's demise always stuck with me as one of the saddest moments in film..thanks for posting!
@GONEMAD1 Thanks for pointing out the whole movie is on here. I just saw this scene no number to know theres more. I'll have to search under 81682bars name to find the rest. I still have an old VHS of a TV bad antenna copy of this I've played near extinct. Love this.
I remember where I was when I first saw this movie, and it still takes me back to that time and place. Lenny Von Dohlen and Virginia Madsen were just terrific. Electric Dreams is a winner!
I totally agreed with all the comments. It has been really a great movie. Unique and touching stories, and not forgetting fantastic music. I really missed this movie.
the only movie that made me cry ...... when i was like 10 !!!! still almost does ........ guess i cry with an exploding machine and not with a human lolll best movie ever!! still waiting for a dvd or BD release ... :x thanks for the video ! 7 minutes of flashbacks
i can't believe its been 25 years since i saw this movie...and i still LUV it! the writer saw so much into the future...the internet, viruses, multi-media...amazing! my computer now has a new name...EDGAR!
OMG!!!!!!!!!! I have LOVED this movie for like FOREVER !!!!! I thought that I was the only dopey DORKY GEEK that even watched this weird and cute movie !!!! I LOOOOOOVE that you put this up here ! Why did Edgar have to kill himself? :'(
MrPhyrestorm 7 months ago
@MrPhyrestorm - Because love is give, and not take... Edgar gave Madeline to Moles (Miles) and took himself away.
Did he really kill himself, though?
Best movie ever.

Made me cry as a child when the computer self destructs (I remember being embarassed for crying at "a stupid movie".)
I really liked this film and had not seen it since childhood until I stumbled upon it on YouTube
The weird thing is I ended up naming my first born daughter Madeleine.
Maybe t his move made a bigger impact on me than I thought.
