Although, this was only if memory serves me, only seven months after Dolan took over the role of Margo from Hillary Bailey Smith, and I still had trouble keeping in mind that Dolan was no longer playing a character such as Maureen Reardon Bauer had been on GL. Of course later, I think during the storyline when Margo was raped and then the thought she might have AIDS, in 1992, did I start to have Dolan's characterization grow on me.
Maybe it was Llya's decision to make being that Casey was her husband, but is she implying that Casey wasn't allowed to have a say in it? I mean afterall it was his life hanging the balance not hers.
I agree. And I was about to write that, myself. I think that people were still rather uninformed about having a living will (apparently if Marland who wrote this storyline had consulted with professionals, even medical professionsals -- which Casey was -- didn't). I know it was only a short time after this episode that Dr. Kevorkian would go to prison. And the concept of living wills became better known, of course we still have the whole idea of fights, even with living wills.
I think this story was a masterful step in Marland's characterization of Margo, which could be traced back to her going to find Craig in Greece but winding up pregnant by Hal. Then Casey's life support was removed, followed by the rape which came after chasing criminals without backup. Not that she deserved all the consequences of those decisions, but Lyla was right on about how impulsive she could be.
You also forget that right before Hillary Bailey Smith went off as Margo, it was almost as thought at times that Margo was rubbing into the face of both Tom and Barbara that Adam's biological father was Hal (just look at the episodes that you have on youtube, from October 1989 to see that).
I knew that, too, but the immediate past (of this episode) wasn't too endearing for Margo, either. I have actually recently watched (yes, on WoST -- May 1981 episode) an episode with Margaret Colin playing Margo & boy she was even worse as far as being impulsive (& this was of with all people, John Dixon about her then relationship with James Steinbeck).
I totally was not watching when this happened. I didn't realize taht they had developed a friendship with Casey and Duke. Whatever happened to the Duke character? Know the actor died, but what about the character?
Actually the actor, unfortunately, committed suicide. Actually Casey was Duke's mentor (Duke developed an interest in becoming a medical researcher because of Casey). Duke was written off as going to medical school, sometime the next year, and he showed up I do believe one more time after that, but I think the last time we heard anything about Duke was the last time John Dixon (or Larry Brygman), who was his father, was on back in 2004.
Actually you are incorrect, according to all sources from the L.A. (Los Angeles) police department that investigated his death revealed to news sources. I also miswrote that he died of suicide, but it's closer to suicide that Michael Louden (ex-Duke Kramer, ATWT died from then what you are writing -- what you are writing is what his father assumed he died from the day after the death on 09/04/2008). The L.A. police said that Louden died from an accidental autoerotic asphyxiation.
I do agree it is a horrible death. I think some of these young people (but especially an actor or actress trying to get into a part as what the L.A. police department back in September 2004 said Louden was trying to do at the time he died from autoerotic asphyxiation) need to realize it isn't something they should EVEN ATTEMPT to try. And as an actor and actresses it should be said to young people that that isn't a way to learn or prepare for a part.

I'm just referring to her history of ignoring procedures and going off on her own agenda.

By the way, accidental autoerotic asphyxiation is the same way that INXS' lead singer, Michael Hutchence died.

I am in pharmaceuticals now and am justing learning about that...that's horrible.
