1st Amendment establishment Clause the government can not promote religion, to be interpreted as it can not promote one religion over another or religion of non-religion. The founding fathers believed that religion was not the business of the state. Having this ceremony and that faith-based office is a clear promotion of religion over non-religion. Just as a christians tax dollars should not go to a mosque, neither should an atheist's go to a religious establishment.

thank you for proving my point. Free exercise does not require our government to engage in religious rituals and to fund religious groups. I don't see how any rational person can look at this video and believe that this is not in conflict with the constitution. Then again most people who favor these initiatives bear allegiance to the bible more strongly than the constitution, which explains why they deny the unconstitutionality of this blatantly unconstitutional act.

I just have my concerns about the U.S. using religious organizations to do work for our government. That can open flood gates for some religions to pry there way into and secure itself into our government. Religious communities are GREAT and I cannot stress that enough. Religious politics can lead a pandoras box. "freedom of religious worship" is in the first amendment. Keyword is "of" and it brings dual meaning to the sentance. Two, there is no violation of the first amendment as long as the money goes towards secular programs.
