This book almost seems alive to me. It is how we live our lives. I find myself in this book all the time in so many different characters. It is a truly brilliant work of art.
I "read" Dubliners in audio book form. I enjoyed it. I knew nothing about the book and didn't realize it was a collection of short stories, so you can imagine while I was listening I got quite confused. I loved the snow falling part. I liked the "numb" analogy. For me it just felt like peace.
Just found your channel. Great to see a young person on YT who reads more than just YA. Thanks!
@fenisc haha awesome, glad I could help. You ever need help understanding some assignment or something, hit me up on twitter, I'd be glad to help. My username is @unleashingwords.
@gnites88 the next book that we are going to read is things fall apart. If u could please give me a review of what it is about before i read it. you dont have to do it if u don't have time.
@fenisc haha I remember reading that in high school and not being a huge fan. I'll scope out the book store this week and see if it strikes my interest, but I can't promise anything ;)
Hahaha! "Story" was said five times, and "stories" was said once. And yes, that quick flash bugged me and I had to go back to pause the video and read what it said. Hahaha!
Oh my gosh, this review sounds like what James Franco maybe tried to write in Palo Alto, unsuccessfully; more urbanized, and cliche, inappropriate, and rude. I almost picked it up at the bookstore because I knew you'd be reviewing it. YOU ARE NOT GOOD FOR MY BOOK BUYING HABIT. sigh.
Good work. Keep it up.
(someday you may have to have every other saturday sitdowns, will you ever read a monster classic??)
@TheShearercon You came in second, someone else tweeted me it today -- but I'll give ya an honorary mention for being the first on YouTube. Way to go :)
I have a copy of Dubliners and I really want to read some Joyce.
Is that "House of Leaves" on your shelf, there? I got half-way through that book and stopped. I still have my copy, so I could try it again. It was a very inventive style of story-telling, but, I don't know how much I enjoyed the actual story. Maybe that's why I put it down. I feel like I should finish it someday, though.
@Humandavid1 It is, +5 pts for you kind sir. I didn't finish it my first time through either, but on the second try I loved it. I'd give it another go someday and see what happens.
Will you be doing a review on Ulysses?

there is that: the rut of habits. But there's a lot more in the stories, you can read the book many times and find new layers of meaning everytime!

It's the only short story collection he wrote.
