@MarkHarmon18 taller tires rotate slower and cover ground more quickly because of the larger footprint. what hurts ur mpg is those little gokart tires people put on ricers and low riders, they gotta spin faster and so keep ur rpms up. as long as they arent too awful big they do actually improve mpg. some ppl seem unable to comprehend this.

I have a chevy z28 that dyno's 528 rwhp and I can easily get 40 mpg on the highway, however I have an 83 f150 that dyno's 315 rwhp w/35's that gets 4 mpg ... it has to do with gear ratio's, number of gears, fuel management system, and numerous other things .... Oh and if I dawg the z28 yes its mpg goes to shit, if I go through a tank like that I maybe get 6mpg but normal driving mpg is great, in town 27 mpg =)

@MarkHarmon18 While I love American cars... I really doubt you get 30 mpg on the highway in your F250, with 40" tires. Maybe downhill, but definitely not flat cruising or average. It's a simple understanding of frontal area, rolling resistance of large tires, and the general inefficiency of a heavy duty truck's drivetrain (designed to take abuse, mind you) that makes it seem very implausible. Even the best examples,diesel, reqular cab, 2WD, manual will have difficulty achieving 30mpg (if at all)
