My High School's Play Production did this last year. =] I loved being apart of it working as a lights manager. People loved the play and we even had an encore performance. :D
Ann Miller the girl that plays "Essie Carmichael" was only 15 years old in this film, and Dub Taylor the guy playing her husband was 31. What a freaking child molester, lol..
@musicaltheatergeek79 Can't say why he looks so old but with all due respect, the character of Essie is supposed to be about 29, and Anne Miller sure don't LOOK 15, which I reckon is how she got the work in the first place. Of course we have to remember around this time, birth certificates were not a certainty, Gracie Allen never even knew how old she was, I think they found her record was off by 5 years.
This is very different from the play. And I will say that I miss the quantness of how the play only takes place in the house. But this is still excelent on it's own. And props to Capra and the writer because while it is very different in structure it still keeps the lesson of the story intact. Also Vanderhoff is one of my favorite play characters. He just makes sense in such a crzy world.
I love how Ann Miller plays her role so totally comedic--she is such a showoff, yet she doesn't really try to use even one-tenth of her real talent. it's also great how Mischa Auer says "confidentially, she STEENKS!" when he comments on her dancing.
That kitten is definitely a Sycamore; it didn't even look frightened when the firecrackers went off, haha! :D

Good to see "Rochester" in this movie. I should see other films he has been in. Know him from the Jack Benny´s shows.
