My dad's a nav-instructor at Kirtland AFB for these... I love hearing his old war stories!! It's amazing that the C-130 has been in use since the 50's... Such a great plane!

Regarding the IFR port comment. Sometimes the overhead escape hatch at the top of the flight deck was replaced with a plexiglass observation bubble. The video here of the inflight refueling was taken from such a bubble, placing the camera aft of the "IFR port" and above the flight deck.

yeah thats right, but that bubble is not permanent, its a bubble hatch, that it can be installed just like a regular hatch. so you can remove it anytime just like a hatch.
