  • I have started to replicate this circuit and it works very well! Can you make a vid on how to construct the receiver circuit?

    Thanks...stprue

  • Really nice! I love the simplicity!

  • :S.

  • tuned dog bowls! i like it

  • Hi.I think the mobile phone charger is a joulethief of some type but it is a very good one and i recomend trying one as it can supply varying amounts of power depending on the load and runs this circuit very well and very economicaly.Glad you too are having fun with this.Regards jonny.

  • Kudos to you Jonny. Great video. To be able to achieve SEC at 1.5V from such a simple circuit is like the Holy Grail. I wonder if Dr. Stiffle has anything to say about all this? Anybody heard anything?

  • Hi chilliqueen.I think Your super joulethief circuit is going to be the base for a whole bunch of experiments. Thanks for sharing it with us.Regards jonny

  • Nice Idea Jonny.

I'll have to try this one also.

  • You will like this one slayer and i think you could develop this a lot further. The base circuit is very interesting and highly modifyable.jonny

  • Hey Jonny

Love your vids. Is there a distance limit to this?

Does it decrease in brightness with distance?

I see you have 2 receiver bowls, does it require 2 and is there some focusing as to where they are as to the transmitter bowl?

    Thanks

    Magluvin

  • Thanks Magluvin. The usable range is about 1m and the light output does decease as you move away from the transmitter. The reciever works best with 2 inputs and bowl placement does play a part in achieving maximun brightness in relation with each other and the transmitter. Thanks for your comment.Regards jonny

  • very nice man! simple so it can spread! really good! thanks for doing this!

  • Hi boxa888.This is very simple and easy to do.These are my favourite type of experiment as they are not to complicated and quick and easy to replicate and most importantly, they are fun and i can and do spend hours playing with them as you find something new every time you play. Why don't you try it.Regards jonny

  • I replicated Chilliqueen's circuit also but didn't take it this far. This looks like a must try modification. Luckily I have all the parts this time. Thanks Jonny.

  • Hi Lidmotor.Chilliqueen has come up with a very interesting circuit and when used as a joulethief it does not draw a lot of power and when setup as a SEC it works pretty good as well.I played a bit more with it after i made the vid and added an ariel to the base of the npn and the lights went even brighter so still plenty to find out about this one.Regards jonny.

  • Great idea Jonny. I like it. It's worth replicating though!

    Medi

  • Hi medi40.This is really easy to do and so much fun.Try it.Regards jonny.
