  • Yeah, James DeWolf (who lived a very long time ago) was a slave trader and possibly a murderer. But lots of DeWolfs were not. You want to rename Washington D.C. because old George owned about 100 slaves? Or refuse to eat at a restaurant named after its owner who happens to be a Bundy? Time to let go, don't you think?

  • The "rum warehouse" I'm sure held rum imported from one of his three slave run plantations in Jamaica.

James De Wolf was charged with murder as a direct result of one of his slaving voyages. He bound a woman to a chair, gagged her, then threw her overboard. The woman had smallpox. He was afraid she would infect other slaves and ruin his profit margin.

    He was never prosecuted.

He also later became a U.S Senator.

Sounds like a great place to eat though!
