fucking disgusting. The title of this video...eugh! I bet that u have never even been to Kyoto...pathetic. Thats' right, I'm judging u just like how u judge the maiko & geiko world. Remove this video, troll
geishas are not prostitutes at all. dont say thay are when there not. the word geisha actualy means artist thay are danceres and thay are musisians thay entertain people at tea parties and all that stuff. thats what a gaisha is. and thats not a prostitute.
Geisha are actually JUST entertainers- however, in old days, if a customer wanted to sleep with them, to refuse the customer was frowned upon. But in modern times, the Maiko or Geisha can refuse or accept as they please.
That being said, actually a pretty nice tutorial for Geisha hair- you should try to use wax, or something, to make it look more put together instead of messy :3
i know this is random but i love the music behind this video :) i can play it on piano... and its sooo beautiful....great video Jess...as usual haha :D
Lolz, the name is funny. And it's also funny how pissed people are getting at this, I mean I'm a big geisha enthusiast. I absolutely love them and your information is correct, up until the thirties ,and some geisha even today, have/had a danna (patron). I wouldn't ever call them high class prostitutes, but hey that is the JOKE. Some people get so upset about somthing so little. Hey kids, take life a little less seriously ya? Don't want you have a heart attack over this XD
Geisha=artists, the Tayuu/Oiran= prostitutes...Lady you clearly got the two mixed up
The first geisha were men sent to entertain the prostitutes and their clients, later on women began to come into the profession...which was tell jokes play music and such..I know my stuff, because one, I'm part japanese, two, I'm VERY traditional in my japanese heritage and I know my japanese background and history. I'm not fussing I'm just stating something
@Poppy027 i have read a book. why dont u read the info underneath the video sweetheart. it was in no way offensive. it was a catchy title. thats what youtube is about. why dont YOU read.
Wait a minute, you actually said you like knowing about something before you degrade it? HA! If that was true you wouldn't have come out and said "Geisha are prostitutes!" like a culturally inept child. Reading a Wikipedia article doesn't count as doing "research", especially if you don't do anything other than that. If you REALLY do some research, you would know a Dana is a exclusive right, and not every geisha has one.
@itachisaysusuck i meant in no way to be offensive. it was a joke title. chill man. for real, i know where the term geisha originated and i respect the art of it. i was referreing back to 1618-1626 where geishas had to resort to it subserviently.
@itachisaysusuck@itachisaysusuck i meant in no way to be offensive. it was a joke title. chill man. for real, i know where the term geisha originated and i respect the art of it. i was referreing back to 1618-1626 where geishas had to resort to it subserviently.
Geisha are geisha and prostitutes are prostitutes! It's like compairing apples and oranges. How culturally insensitive are you? What are you, an expert because you read something somewhere once? And this is a GROSS interpretation of geisha makeup and the hair is a disgusting mess! I am deeply sickened by this video, the title, your sidebar "education" and most of all your attitude! Geisha are steeped in a long history full of culture, pride and artistry, you reflect none of this in the least.
@rorochan77 im sorry you were so offended. i in no way meant to degrade the form of art. i have done my research, and in the fun and play of "critical mediocracy" - named it so. i know where the term geisha originated and i respect the art of it. i was referreing back to 1618-1626 where geishas had to resort to it subserviently as men were the reseans for their resolution to making yen.
yea no it wasn't a deliberately demeaning title - it was just kindasomething that i put. i did in fact put more info on it in the description box. didn't mean to offend anyone
where are the two drum sticks for bak of hair? and dont they tie a pillow on there back to rest from tied up cut off little shoes that must give the girls pain''if i had hot G girl I would buy her some stelletoes''so her feet would feel great''
@a1wildart yea i shouldve gotten some chopsticks! lol and it's def weird that they have a pillow. unfortunately i wouldve had to use a bed pillow and i don't think that would've worked! lol
So whats next ?how about a vitoria secret model'''''if u need an assistant im available lol'' ty for the fun chat and ill be waiten I could be a bunn powder artist'''
Am I the only one who thought of Luna Lovegood(Harry Potter movies) in the beginning of the video?
A tip. Would it be possible to see the video from different angles all in the same video? I was just thinking it would simplify for people wanting to recreate this look.
i wish i filmed it at some different angles and in better light but i dont think i can redo it. it took forever and im happy with this one. bucky laughed his ass off!
I find it so fascinating that there is so much disagreement among people who are well-informed on the matter as to whether geishas are ever prostitutes and vice-versa.
The real answer must be complex or else the matter would have been settled long ago.
to ManicBoii, first of all i dont think such a thing as seth pool exists (correct me if im wrong). and if you mean cesspool, that would be really insulting, seeing as it refers to a place where sewage is disposed of.. either that or a filthy/corrupt place.
but anyway i love your videos jhermbaby! but i miss your dreads :/
lol i think he meant well by it.. hahaha, but thanks sweetheart! i miss them sometimes too, but i feel so free right now, ill do em up again once i have kids, but for now, i like being able to run my hands through my hair. i made a vid saying why i did it but didn't tell ppl i had a tumor on my head they had to remove, they would had to shave one of my dreads and i COULDNT have that happen. i woulda had a bald spot!! lol
@GatoradeIsNotJuice yea it was hard for me to take em out. i cried, but at the same time, the dread dreams of me shaving my head, had to stop. it was so annoying. it kept reoccurring and so i think it was just time
ahhhh i feel it. im glad im a dude, it makes the decision to get dreads a lot easier too. and yeah i remember you saying something about how if you didnt take yours out, your boyfriend would.. and those dreads are just too dope to kill
Geishas aren't prostitutes. They just entertain men at tea parties. They misconception came from the 1940's when the Geisha died out and prositutes known as Oiran (who were before the Geisha), came back and dressed as Geisha to entertain the American soldiers who came to Japan and went back, describing them as prostitutes.
Sorry to rant I just hate when people say that. Loved the video!
In Japanese, Geisha means artist While there are in fact misconceptions, it is common & encouraged for Geisha to have a client called a danna in which Geishas are more personally engaged with sexually. Saburuko (early geisha's) were the result of an increasing social displacement towards the end of the 7th century.
Many women become wanderers, who, in order to survive, had to resort to trading their sexual favours. Ranging from lower class to high class were women who were quite educated & talented. There is evidence that after the defeat of the Toyotomi Clan, many daughters and young wives of the high-ranking samurai found themselves displaced within society. In order to be able to make a living for themselves, they turned to prostitution. The only licensed pleasure quarters opened in November of 1618.
I appreciate the feedback but actually check out the info box, it's fact that they were high class citizens entertaining men in brothels... sexually and entertaining wise. but thank u so much for the feedback

@yunadustrialtwifan So sex isn't art?
Oh and by the way, "prostitution" isn't restricted to sex. Anyone can be a prostitute without being sexual.

2. The make up is missing the exotic, longated eye-look.
3. The lighting is HORRIBLE.
4. You look like you have no passion to do any of this video.
5. You fast forwarded too much.
6. The pictures were cool looking for an every day average photo of a costume look
