  • WOW I CAN DO THIS with 1 hand tied behind my back

  • @AjaxpuffNstuff well...seeing as this video concentrates on your feet, that would be very easy!

  • @AjaxpuffNstuff i can also do that with one foot so i really wouldnt be talking

  • titles about right on great control man, my double bass is all sloppy and the beat goes all over the place sometimes

  • derek roody has an endurance video, this is just 16th notes and a little beat at the start.

  • Nice Guitar man!

  • i recommend a little less reverb on the snare...

  • how much was that drum set?

  • any tips on double bass endurance?

  • Hey, about a month ago I was playing single stroke rolls with double kick easily about 180 beats per minute (16 notes). I now sit down and my feet seize up when I go any higher than 110 bpm. :/ Help?? Haha I don't know whats up with me... Have you ever had this problem?

  • your set sounds AMAZING!

  • I want to steal your kick drum. Any tips on how to get my kick and snare to sound close to yours?

  • That really doesn't sound like total control to me man... You've gotta get your double bass a lot more consistent.

  • 0:11 - 0:12 .. is it me or did you have a heard time keeping the double bass consistent?

  • dude sick mixing, and thats how u got ur thumbs up from me cos your legs are awfully slow

  • could you make a video, explaining how to tune the bass drum, and floor tom?

  • well man its official... imo the best sounding drums on youtube... il be micing my kit soon.. i have a little knowledge of sound tec etc so my goal is to have a similar sound to you.. great job man :)

  • Dude awesome drumming but one thing man u gotta move with the beat cause u just sit in that one spot and it makes it look lame. Ur a great drummer don't get me wronge but u just gotta move with it a lil man

  • brilliant sonds from your drums. (:

  • what pedals r u using

  • @SANDLotfan112 Hey there,

I'm using Tama Iron Cobra double pedals - power glide version!

    Regards

    Louis Sellers

  • The drums sound great! What kind of mics are you using? are you using an effects afterwards?

  • @crosswiretv Hi there,

They are a variety of Shure mics (PG series on toms, snare, bass drum) with some Oktava MC-102 mics for overheads. I do a lot of mixing once it's been layed down. I have a degree in music and sound tech, so it comes in handy when trying to create high quality audio!

  • AWESOME MAN JUST AWESOME!

  • I LOVE YOU, AND YOUR KIT.

  • your snare is amazing

  • This is simple stuff, but its very useful, especially to people who are just starting to play double bass pedal(s). Incredible tune man, very nice.

  • Good sounding cymbals, nice kit. check out my vids, they are kind of sloppy and made up on the spot but let me knowwhat you think.

  • thanks

  • I LOVE YOUR KIT DUDE!

  • I love that second part =)

  • Hey im not trying to be a bother but im trying to record my metal band what should i use for drums? I have around 400 or 500 dollar budget. I have a 7 peice kit and 8 cymbals. Thanks!

  • what drum module do you use , how about the trigger on your bass drum?

  • Hey buddy,

I record the kit using normal mics, and use drum replacement techniques within a DAW. I use Steven Slate drum samples.

    All the best

  • Very pro!

  • @louistotalcontrol

what kind of cymbals do u use?

  • @louistotalcontrol Nice vid! I'm glad I came across you. Is drum replacement relatively easy then? I'm looking at doing it too & just wondered what it's like using drum replacement software? Thanks!

  • say bro, that is my exact kit and almost same cymble set up! what heads are u using

  • Hey man,

Ah what a coincedance! I currently use Remo clear pinstripes but I think they are Evans G2s on this video.

    All the best

  • Hey man thanks for your site it has a lot of information and its free. I am a beginner and wil be checking it out often.

  • nice video. good to see another idlewild fan too!!

  • What drum set is that?

  • triggers man

  • nice set man

  • is called drums mics...and maybe some.. bass triggers...obviousy....you dont no too much about drums.

  • That's right, I process them in such a way to get that sound. A bit of added samples and mixing techniques! Thanks

    Louis Sellers

  • drums sound good man

  • the bassdrum sounds like a trigger sample and i guess it is, but this is probably one of the best drum recordings one youtube that is not a song of a band :D but the playing is damn simple to me

  • awesome vid 5*

  • dude my bassdrum dont even have a mic and its the same sound depend the way you tune it and what head your using and the batter head change the sound too i use iron cobra with the black batter that come with the kit instead of the white one they have more atack and well for the rest its up to how nicely you hit the head there an accual technic and don't put a pillow in the bassdrum that so gay XD

  • Umm, without a pillow, the bassdrum will be very resonant. And that just sounds like shit.

  • well its a personal choice accualy but me personaly i hate mufling but i got friend that tell me the same thing and i looked at ther bassdrum and i just laugh talking about this yesterday my buddy got a powerstroke 3 so i instaled it for him he was telling me plz dont remove the pillow i said stfu with a big smile then i tuned his bass drum took me 15 min doin both side cuz the other side was too loose and it sounded like cardboard lol and now every hit he does i can feel it in my whole body hah

  • haha that's gotta be very uncomfortable!

But yeah, it is all personal choice.

  • like rly ther heads like those evan one that have a ring that goes on it and it only remove the resonation but usualy a bass drum should sound good without a pillow if its a good drum haha like the gretch i have the bass drum sound like a fukin thunder lol

  • @Oriasis not necessarily. A lot of base drums do sound like shit. all you need is a nice resonant head. I perfer Evans Onyx head over anything and an Emad beater side. I dont have a pillow in my drum and it sounds nice. But for recording, not so much haha

  • learn how to spell jackass

  • with a microphone. in the right position almost every bass can sound like that one

  • how does your bass sound so good?

  • How do u do that?how do u move your knee so fast the duds awesome!

  • its called PRACTICE lol if you try to do it fast you will fail you got to take your time and work it up slowly but remember to stay equal with each hit so it don't sound like rubish lol and don't keep your foot on the other batter while hiting the head it will change the sound of the bassdrum also and or make your batter bounce and you will fuck it up :P so try to remove the batter from the head every time you hit it i seen lots of poeple resting the foot on the pedal this is wrong :P

  • snare.. sounds good

  • Why the 'tuition' title when it's just a display?

  • what modul are you using?

    great vid 5*

  • you blow

  • Kaka notun kichhu bajao.... Boddo shoja maal...

  • I never want to use triggers...

    Nice sound dude

    Get another bass drum hahahaha

(I will (try) if you will haha)

  • what are bass drum triggers?

  • Triggers are electronic sensors that produce a sound that resembles a bass drum (the bass drum in this video is triggered. So that's one of a few sounds it makes) It can be placed on the head of the bass drum (sensing head vibration) so when you literally tap the bassdrum with your beater, the sensor makes the drum sound like you are hitting it full force. so it goes: tap--->trigger--->speaker.

  • i see. thanks.

  • nice

  • how much are bass drum triggers?

  • the trigger it self is maybe about 100$ but the module that actually sends out the signal to the amp of what sound should play is like 300-1000$

  • alright thx soo much

  • sounds like beast and the harlot, dude! ahaha

  • great song man. one of my favorites of the City of Evil album

  • which song?

  • beast and the harlot. I was talking to the guy above me, but it's also cool that you also listen to avenged sevenfold! :)

  • love em ;)

  • ROCK ON MAN, ROCK ON!!!! \m/ lol XD

  • nice sounding kit you got there! love that ride

  • sounds great!

  • aha no problem, thank you =), you sound sick! =D

  • Hey there and thank you for watching my video!

    Louis Sellers

  • jesus dude... thats a pretty sweet sound you got!!! nice kit too!! keep it up ha

  • whats the china in the top left?

    Louis Sellers

  • nice snare dude what kind is it?

  • nice really smooth

  • Great audio and really tight.

  • your bass sounds bad ass

  • Hi Larrsa,

Well I put a lot of effort into that side of the production too so thats cool!

    Lou

  • could you tell me how to get a sick sound like that for the bass drum?

i have a small bass drum, both sides of it tuned loose and i have like 2 old sweatshirts in it

  • Hi there,

It's taken time to find a good bass drum sound, it can be frustrating trying to get that clicky sound!

I have the front head slightly looser than the beater head, and use an EMAD 2 skin. Inside are two pillows stacked on each other!

When I mix the audio for these videos, sometimes I'll reinforce the sound with drum triggers, as I have done here!

    Louis - TCDT

  • alright ill try it thanks, and by the way, how big is your bass drum? i tihnk mine is a 18x22

  • I think my bass drum is 18 x 22 as well!

  • people always get better coments/ratings if there are good sound and video quality ,weard =S

  • Honestly sometimes u dont think ure bass drum sounds clicky but ive heard mine at gigs and been really suprised! lol it's alot different miced

  • Dude, how do you make a bass have that click sound? Pleeeeeeease tell me.

  • the sound sytems eq settings or something when using triggers

  • dude your drum set is tight man and i like the way how you played so calmed, and ferriouse.
