.....Further more to all the complimentary comments about this sadly overlooked excellent song, this is actually a live performance, something unheard of on tv today.
it just didnt get airplay on radio 1 and in the 70's if they didnt play it! no hit? but an absolute cracking song one of gerrys again with that beach boys vocal backing.
In early '75, the Glitter Band played a few miles from my home. My parents wouldn't let me go (I was only a nipper), so I forged 5 autographs to show everyone at school: Fred Glitter, Bob Glitter, Mick Glitter, John Glitter and Sam Glitter. Nobody believed I was at the concert, so I started buying their records (to learn their names, for starters, lol).
Why did 'Listen to the Band' not get in the album chart? The mind boggles. It was easily one of the best albums of the 70s.
This song is one of my favourites and like all of you, I can't understand why it wasn't a hit. Gerry is absolutely superb on lead vocals and of course, extremely cute - but that goes without saying really!
This is a brilliant record and a brilliant performance from Gerry can't believe he's gone you were the best. R.I.P. Gerry you will always be the Glitter bandxxxx
You must be so proud lottie of Gerry and his Daughter I miss those days so much and when this record came out I was 15 and Gerry was my fave will be thinking of you.

That's cute how he grins in spite of himself when he
knocks over the microphone stand with his guitar 00:40
and turns away.He was such a cute, talented geezer.

Still can't believe you're no longer among us Gerry.
Hoping you're keeping a watchful eye over Claire and
us,your other friends from the past, keeping us safe

Yes,definitely! The Glitter Band were the best and
Gerry was the bomb, all 5'5" 9stone of him!!

Saying Gerry was 5'5" is somewhat generous, but the platforms were quite helpful back in the day.
His legacy will always live on, I have his daughter who is a very talented DJ recently featured on Channel 4.
My 1st love and no one else has come close.
