I absolutely love U2 but I really have no idea what Bono means by "This is where it all began for us" (Boston). U2 are Irish and made their big break at Live Aid so what is he going on about?

@BENS19777 Live Aid is a myth. Many people didn't know them in '85 but many more did and just never realised how good they were. It wasn't a beginning for U2 but an eye-opener for those who had ignored them.

America was their 'big break'. And that happened well before 1985. Carter Alan on Boston Radio began playing them in '81. Toured America in '81. And as footage from Devore and concert film Under a Blood Red Sky (both '83) shows, they were a cult band well before Live Aid.

I'm a metalhead and i listen to a lot of death/black metal which deals with the more dark and negative side of life because people who are depressed and pissed off create amazing music. Now this song is nothing less than awesome and a lot of U2's other songs are really good and that makes them a great band in my eyes.

yeah, definitely north african...a hint of the middle-east/arabia though. Bono himself said that their is a North African sound/influence in this song and the album but he hoped it would be subtle. For me it was so clear and so true...so glad U2 went back to Morocco. Most Irish and U2 especially have an embrace of the world, that I just love for I to embrace it in that way!
