@91cannibal you gotta avoid serial numbers with "TTL" in them.. most of them were the batch that got fucked up. And dont pay over 400-450 or so, any higher than that, youre much better off with an Arsenal and you aviod all risk..Arsenal brand is made in the Izmash factory in Russian and are prettty much military spec.. Ive got a Century AMD, only thing wrong with it is that it doesnt have real AMD grips and the finish is rough but I fixed that for real cheap. (bake-on engine paint $10)

How do these stack up to the Bulgarian ak-74 clones? I've heard that the Tantal's have a few problems. I'm asking because I want a good 'mud gun' that I would be able to trust 100% if I had to trust my life to it.

Well ill tell you... I went hunting a few weeks back, and as we encountered a bunch of hogs. My Tantal decided to be a bitch and jam on the first shot. I guess coincidence, or something. Its a good rifle, although for me its starting to jam more and more, I shall polish to see what happens... I would recommend an AR-15 or DONT USE CORROSIVE AMMO!

Get a Bulgarian parts gun with a chrome lined bore and barrell. If you get a Tantal get a real one...chrome lined bore and barrel in 5.45x39 mm not 223 like Century likes to make. A "real" Tantal is one of the best 74 platform weapons ever made. it is hard to find a good one though because Century flooded the market with pieces of shit. I had my Tantal built from a parts kit, and I own a Arsenal SGL31....both are great rifles. Check Arsenal out,they make awesome rifles.

you can easily change it. The tantal has the same trunnion as any Kalashnikov variant, so it is simple to take it off, and but just about whatever the hell stock you want on it with little modifications.

You can easily swap the rear stock and the lower grip. However. You cannot swap the upper hand guard unless you find one specifically made for a tantal; purely given because apart from these style weapons, all Kalashnikovs and copies of such do NOT use a free-floating gas tube like the Polish Tantal.

The stock is too short for my tastes, Im a pretty tall guy and the wire stock doesn't have enough reach, I replaced with a 6 point collapsible stock. Just for my size though dont get me wrong the wire stock is perfect.... for the average size of a Pole..

i think the muzzle brake adds about 2.5 to 3inches to the overall length of the barrel but it is 16 inches i believe without the brake. i was thinking about taking mine to a gunsmith and having maybe 2 inches shaved off the barrel then it will still be legal with the muzzle brake on. but still shorter

find a bakelite pistol grip to match the lower. it also gives a more beefier grip and feels better to hold in my opinion than the tapco grip. plus it will look more AK-74 original. i found mine for only 10 bucks online
