  • I studied folk traditions in school I find it way interesting

  • True hoodoo really dose have its roots in Christianity but the uses of a few hoodoo tricks by eclectic ppl of many different paths is fine by me I'm really liberal when it comes to that stuf but I'm traditional to the point of saying if your borrowing from hoodoo and are not a hoodoo say so but I totally understand both sides of the argument going on in the comments

  • @TheStarfkr- I WILL, however, agree with you on one point: books/internet should not be the only sources anyone uses, and NEVER only one book/site alone. The biggest problem with media sources is stuff gets left out or omitted, and sometimes "spin" is added. One publisher in particular puts the same face ,regardless of which tradition they're representing, on EVERY title they publish. If you're an avid book reader, you know who I mean. I've seen websites do the same.

  • @deamonmistress

True Hoodoo is taught one-on-one. You will not learn real Hoodoo online or from a book at all. Repeat, you will not learn real Hoodoo online or from a book. The only way to learn real Hoodoo is to get out in the community and start talking to older folks. You will eventually be directed to an old-school worker. However, they wont teach you if you aren't a Christian. They also won't teach you if they think you are a witch.

  • @deamonmistress

Christianity & the Bible are at the core of Hoodoo. However, we aren't fundamentalist Christians. There's no such thing as "non-traditional Hoodoo". A cat is a cat, a dog a dog, no such thing as a "non-traditional cat". You are either a Hoodoo or you are not. 99% of the so-called Hoodoos online are not Hoodoos. They aren't Christian, don't use the bible, and do evil stuff behind closed-doors. Many of them are true witches, evil-doers. Witches don't want the truth to be told.

  • @deamonmistress

And please don't take offense to my comments. I like Wiccans, Neopagans, etc. I just hate that certain fakes and witches are teaching people wrong stuff. If you are a Wiccan or Neopagan, stay out of Hoodoo. It's not a compatible tradition. For one, it's Christian and uses the Bible. We don't pray to any pagan gods or goddesses in true Hoodoo. A true witch will teach you that you can do whatever you want and call it hoodoo. They will also teach you witchcraft, evil stuff.

  • @TheStarfkr You know, I love how all these Christians love to tell us that witches are evil and whatnot. How many thousands/millions of people have witches killed because they would not convert to their belief system? Oh? That's what I thought. Who's evil again?

  • @TheStarfkr- Also, what the hell are you talking about.. "the only ones that can defeat them?" It's not a competition. Really? What? Why? Just... why? Why would you even write that? It's times like these I really wish I hadn't looked down at the comment section. I'm not going to argue with you... In fact, I'm not going to even bother reading or responding to anything you write further.. You are, CLEARLY, the expert here...

  • @deamonmistress

I wrote "The only ones to defeat them" because that's what a true Hoodoo does. A true Hoodoo is a Witch Doctor, a Medicine Man, A Root Doctor. We are not witches! We remove witchcraft and defeat witches. We fight evil. Most people are being taught so-called "Hoodoo" by witches. A witch can only teach you witchcraft. By 'witch' I mean a person who does black magic against innocent people. They are out there. They usually pretend to be good spiritual people.

  • @TheStarfkr LOL LAUGHING MY FUCKING ASS OFF AT YOU. If that's your definition of "witch," you need to go out into the world and do more research into what a witch is. Oh, the ignorance of the "Holier-Than-Thou" people.

  • @TheStarfkr-Take your comments over to the Lucky Mojo website and see what happens over there. Also, who cares which "vocabulary words" you use? It's not about who's more "elite." Additionally, real magic of any tradition is not "just handed over" to anyone, and is frequently passed through familial lines as mine was. You DO know the reason many ppl incorporate "Bible," yes? It has a historical reason, not a spirtiual one exclusively.

  • @deamonmistress

The problem is that Hoodoo is not being taught correctly. People are being taught that it's "just magic", that you can be whatever religion you want, that you can do whatever you want to do and call it hoodoo. The reason why we don't call it "spells" is because true hoodoos are Christian and are distinct from witches. There's Hoodoo (Witch Doctors) and then there's witches (evil-doers). They are not the same thing.

  • cloves + orange = pomanders :)

  • very informative thank you! i really love to use cloves

  • They're called pomanders. :)

Cloves are also used to heat up tricks. Clove oil is also good to use for toothaches. Clove cigarettes are good to help people wean off of the nicotene addiction from regular cigarettes.

Please don't be mad, but you may want to drop the term "hoodoo" and just use "folk magic". Hoodo is being taught wrong online and if you actually met a real Hoodoo worker then you would understand. Good video.

  • @TheStarfkr

    (continued)

When I mean Hoodoo is being taught wrong is that people are being taught that's it's just magic. Not true! It's a spiritual system and it's only Christian. No such thing as a Pagan Hoodoo and I don't want to offend but that's just how it is. Also, Hoodoos are like Witch Doctors and then there are Witches (evil doers, not talking about Wiccans). (continued)

  • @TheStarfkr

    (continued)

So "true Hoodoo" is Witch Doctors and then there are witches. Lots of witches (not Wiccans) online who want to teach so-called "Hoodoo" but are intead teaching Witchcraft instead. Also, most of the fakes are into the "urban hoodoo" vs. the old style hoodoo. One more thing, we don't use the term 'spells'. Witches do spells. Hoodoo folk use the term "fix", "trick", "job", "remmedy", etc. If you could see a real Hoodoo in action you would understand the difference.

  • @TheStarfkr

    (continued)

Finally, you can tell the difference between a Witch and a Hoodoo because 1.) Witches do nasty stuff (menstrual blood, sement, excrement, etc.) 2.) Witches won't use the bible in their works, 3.) Witches do unjustified black magic against innocent people, 4.) Witches are obsessed with power and want to dominate everyone in their lives. Witches will pretend to be good, spiritual people (cont.)

  • @TheStarfkr

    (continued - Final)

...but a True Hoodoo can always sniff them out. Witches hate real Hoodoos because they are the only one's who can defeat them. Most of the people teaching so-called "Hoodoo" online are Witches pretending to be good people. Don't feel bad as these witches are good at fooling people. Don't trust the books out there either, most are written by witches or people who don't have a clue what Hoodoo is.
