No offense, but that sounded horrible. My orchestra (as well as other orchestras I have heard) never sounded that bad. The notes slurred together, people messed up on the easiest parts, overall it was just bad. It definitely needs some practice.
I'm sure plenty of people were doing their part perfectly, but overall it just didn't sound good. It was out of tune and not together, especially with the violins.
It sounds just like the actual piece we heard in music class. Weel done! It was awesome. Were skilled group of musicians. I play the guitar, but I won't even be half as good if I tried.
@TheHomesk1llet if your orchestra can play better than us, why isnt yours being selected to play in Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, Chicago.. ? the list goes on.
@pianoguy1120 Um FYI. I played violin for 8 years, with a very good advanced orchestra, and also worked at Carnegie Hall for a while. Anyone who can produce 50K can play at Carnegie Hall. It is no longer synonymous with talent.
@sharr630 did you listen to the other songs we played in carnegie? and they selected us to play, its not like we just had a bunch of money and we went to them.
This is amazing! Very fast which is good, but there were sometimes that it kind of fall apart, but then back together. But only a little, like the audience probably won't know only for set musicians and the orchestra members.
The amount of negative comments on this is ridiculous . . . . . To play this piece all the way through at this tempo for a Highschool orchestra I think is incredible! I'm playing it with my youth orchestra and if we're half as good as you I'll be happy. Great job! xoxo
I'm betting the orchestra qualified for Carnegie with a previous year's group. That's usually how these things go. It's not bad for high school but this isn't Carnegie-caliber. You can't just throw your fingers down on those chromatic turns--the tuning is important.
Also, it wasn't everyone, just enough people to make it sound unpolished. The good directors will threaten to cut the people who can't play a piece like this because it's better for the performers and audience if it's well done.
@DemiReticent i agree with most of what you are saying, but this just wasnt our best performance of this song. you should go listen to our adagio for strings, that was our best piece of the night. i put this up because it is the only recording of this song we made.
The pizz was way sped up. >: Common mistake, but it still sort of made one of my eyelids twitch. Great solo though. (: Coulda been played a lot louder. I think s/he squeaked, but I can totally understand the nervousness. Great job. (:
Hey does anyone think my director is crazy if he thinks our dumb orchestra can do this if he only went over this song 2 times in the past 3 weeks? Cause I have to play this tomorrow and it seems like I'm the only one who knows how to play and count the cello part. I was wondering if I was the crazy one or if it was my Director was the STUPID ONE! Oh great soloists by the way. that really adds to the song. : )
@dancexbiscuits dylbotboner wasn't insulting this orchestra. In fact, he said, quote, "amazing for a high school to be playing this, folk is hard for strings (unless your used to fiddling!)"
Nice :) There's a really good high school orchestra that did a cover for this...this is NOT it :( This version is ok though...
