lol once I figured out you could be supersonic by the end of the first level my life as an 11 year old turned into making that happen. I have all this so memorized to this day I can do it in my sleep. I don't think I ever tried to beat the game without being super sonic...lol

You must hit a "star post" with at least 50 rings to enter a special stage. You will be able to tell from the stars dancing around the post.

Yes, this was recorded in Gens. I played Sonic 2 as a kid back on the Genesis, it probably took a little over a year of casual play before I knew all the special stages by heart.

I mean, today's games are awesome with Graphics and sh*t, but really, i enjoy pulling out my Mega Drive and play Sonic, MJ's Moonwalker, Shinobi, Streets of Rage and stuff then most of the new games...Today everything is about Graphics and how can i make a movie - like story and let somebody play over 40 hours....screw that !! I prefer simple graphics with funny noises and short gameplay but entertainment man ! Give me a thumb up if you agree with me !

I agree so much. Back then they really had to use their imagination to compensate for the limited graphics they had and the games then were timeless. All those games you mentioned are like the Mozart of gaming, they are the classics!Think of paper boy! Its a game where you go along on a bike and chuck newspapers at shit. Or road rash where its a bike race accept you can start whipping the other racers with chains. And they're great! If game makers were smart they'd make a streets of rage4!

This is going to sound really stupid but I've played this game so many times that during the special levels, I memorized all of the jumps of the bombs and where the rings are, but when I forget, I listen to the music to help me figure out what part of the stage i'm on.

they're supposed to let you turn into Super Sonic (just Sonic but faster, yellow, and invincible). I've never done this though since I don't know how to get super sonic after getting the chaos emeralds

Honestly, I would rather play Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 & 3 on Sega Genesis. Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic 3D Blast on Sega Genesis. Six games than on the Virtual Console. Why? Because the score really don't matter and don't save.
