Once again I must comment here. Bill and I had this same aircraft and when he and I were flying on this day I showed Bill the sheared wing bolt after the landing. Yes this A/C had a wing bolt that sheared. Additionally, we fliers flying these high caliber aircraft do not intentionally trash these A/C.
i learned that if u lost the right wing, just push the left wing on max like turning to the RIGHT so u'll have the plane flat untill u land it with lot of LLUUCCKK!!!! At this point u are obliged to use the tail as point of control. LIKE THIS GUY DID HE SO LUCKY TO ARRIVE ON THE LANDING POINT..
I better start practicing for this... I put a little bit too much stress on my trainer last summer, i did snap rolls and stuff with it and when i landed i noticed that the wing was bent and i had lost the left aileron =P I cant even imagine what im going to do this summer with my extra..
bullshit.of course this was intentional(come on,the wing didn 't break off randomly),but the thing is that he wasn 't ever smart enough to perform something really stunning.just in the end,he could rapidly roll left and leave the rudder center. so he 'd land on the wheels
@3DFLYLOW if i could afford it i would do it and prove it to you.not so big deal.the retarded one is you that doesn 't accept what non-famous people can do
@frizstyler non- famous people? What does that mean? I'm not saying you have to be famous to have a wing break off then land your plane. I've seen carbon fiber wing tubes snap and rip the wing off. I've even seen aluminium bend to a V shape and the plane still lands. To think someone would intentionally have there wing come off of there 4k + airplane is "bullshit". 3:30 shows where the wing tube ripped through the wing causing it to come off. Not intentional.
@3DFLYLOW i mean everyday people.you hate them right away.i have done what i describe many times in realflight simulator.i 'm not saying it 's easy, but it CAN be done
also, real pure carbon fibre wouldn 't snap on an rc plane GTFO.this is carbonfibre-''reinforced'' plastic
@frizstyler Everyday people? Wow I'm taking to a kid here. On a sim huh? Thats easy, I do that every night. Anyway your way off topic. This was not an intentional wing failure. Oh and just cause you can do something on your sim doesn't mean you could do it in real life.
@3DFLYLOW you pretend to be some kind of adult?you said a tube of carbon fiber can break in an rc plane and you think you 're adult?you 're talking me nonsense that i can 't do all that trick while it's absolutely reasonable and you 're adult? and i m not off topic i STARTED this topic and i'm IN it from the beginning ,the only one talking rubbish is u
@frizstyler Your a 17 year old punk that doesn't know what your he's about. People don't break there wings off in flight on purpose. Look up Rc plane loses wing and you'll see it happens all the time
@3DFLYLOW oh,and about this particular wing,of course it was intentional i dont know what the critical area was made from(most probably it was all wooden) but surely if you 're "adult" enough you should know the speed and force wasn t enough to break a "4k" acro plane.
it is obvious they had "stressed" some of these critical parts before flight
@frizstyler Nice conspiracy theory. I've been flying over 15 years now and the fact is structural failure is common problem specially on an older airplane. Aerobatic planes are put under tremendous stress every time the fly and from time to time they break. Your a dumbass.
I checked your profile to see if you had a video of flying a plane with one wing and landing it on its wheels. I cannot seem to find it. I thought for sure there would be one there but...
I agree... after posting my first comment i had a complete elevator fail on a scale spitfire, (NOT ARF SCALE) and i had to tilt and rudder it in... like i previously agreed, great reflexes, but a seasoned 3d pilot could bring it in. the hardest part would be the mental chalenge, congrats to the pilot... i watch all ya vids!
I have been studing planes a long time but this is Totally wicked! I'd never be able to do that! I think this takes um... 5 yrs practice or more! Cool flying though
its super easy on the sim, but when i tried to actually fly 1 wing in real life, it aint so easy, and i'm a seasoned 3D pilot, just not as precise as Mr. Hempel
I doubt that very much. You're right about the wing countering the torque and the fact that as an aerobatic model with a symetrical section it was easier than it would have been with an asymmetric section but to say that anyone who can fly 3D could pull this off quite easily is, in my mind, a gross overstatement. Bill Hempel is a world class RC pilot and you can see that he's working quite hard to get the model down in one piece.
Sorry your wrong, thats an incredible peice of flying. The wing coming off is a real problem! Anyone who can fly 3d, might be able to control in a similar manner, but I dont think the result would always be the same. This chaps an accomplished flyer.
Wow what an amazing pilot, he just flew a plane with half a wing nad landed it! i would love to see another pilot do that, like chip hyde. also the skit in the end is pretty funny too haha
