I am glad to hear that this song means so much to a lot of people. I came of age with this music, and I love the fact that young people love this music also.
@lillith886 yeah it is, however we are singing it in shrek lik a hippy festival (I'm the pied piper) so we've changed it to meet on the swamp! it's still pretty cool!
@lillith886 thanks and yeah we will enjoy the perfromance. only 2 weeks to go so fingers crossed it goes alright on the night. and thanks for the best wishes! x :) :) :D :P
fantastic song that i will always love with all my heart. reminds me of many great times with many great friends in cropredy! i grew up in this area and went for many years. we always got together for this song to say goodbye to another great fun filled and special weekend :)
@lovelywelshgal it is indeed a beautiful song. so sorry you split up with your bf, but you are young and some things are just not meant to be. embrace your life. :-)))
I know everyone has their own meaning for this, mine 1969, 15 years old, wandering through the English fog in the dark after just getting out of work as a lathe operator (4 pound a week) and wondering what life held in store for me but knowing it wasn't the life I then had to be continued.I knew I was leaving it all and I did, to half the world way. This still waters the eyes.
such a beautiful song. when i see them perform it live i have to say i find it quite moving myself!! thank you for dropping by and taking time to comment. :-)))
lillith, we have a unique and very beautiful forest just up the road. It's called Mundlimup Forest. There's nothing like it anywhere else in the world. But a government agency is planning to log it. We have formed a group to fight this ecocide. It's not going to be easy to stop this foolishness ... but we have a very keen band of enthusiasts, and we're doing our best to thwart their moves with direct but peaceful, non-belligerent action. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Give logging the chop!
@Jarrahnut i'll be keeping more than fingers crossed. forestry has to be sustainable or not happen at all. too much of our ancient woods are gone now. what's left is more precious than gold and must be preserved for future generations and the critters who rely on them for their habitat. i wish you well with this. keep in touch. i'd love to hear how it goes.
lillith, is it Ian Matthews who opens the vocals? Richard Thompson had a wondrous 'feel' for guitar accompaniment. Didn't they refer to him as "the boy wonder"? What a lovely video. Well done, lillith.
Beautiful number! Lovely photos. Jeez! Sandy Denny and Fairport were wonderful. I went to see them in Perth in about 1972 ... but ... alas ... Sandy hadn't flown out here with them. We didn't realise this until the curtain went up. I was so disappointed. Greetings to one and all from Jarrahnut (Colin) in Western Australia.
@Jarrahnut thankyou. it's the woods near my home. they are a fab band and still going strong. they tour the uk every year and get to my neck of the woods around my birthday so it's been my birthday treat to see them a few times.:-))) this is the song that gets the whole audience on their feet, (lighters in the air moment lol!!) thanks for dropping by.
good afternoon!! thank you for your kind words. :-) they're a pretty cool band. they tour the uk every year so it's been my birthday treat to see them a couple of times. they are good live!! thanks for dropping by. :-)
lillith was made from the same earth as adam, to be his equal. when he tried to dominate her she took the form of an owl and flew away. she is responsible for the smiles of babies in their sleep and the nightly emmisions of men. i guess it just depends on whose side of the fence you're on as to whether that is naughty or not. of course the mysogynists who decided what was allowed to be in their holy scriptures might not like the idea of a free woman!!! thanks for dropping by. :)
you have a wonderfull way with nature the way you capture the beauty in the weeds which after all are only misunderstood flowers that everyone pulls out, beautifull song to go with a most uplifting video.
i love weeds. they're just plants in the wrong place. a lot of the herbal medicines i used when i was pregnant are what would be consisered by many to be weeds, shepherds purse tincture will stop a post-partum bleed in under a minute. i used a herbal tincture to restart my stalled labour, nettles, dandylions and yellow dock to nourish my blood and kidneys. plantain oil mixed with beeswax for nappy rash, comfrey for healing my stitches... i could go on a long time here.celebrate weeds huzzah!!! :)
Beautiful video, filled with the splendor of green things growing -- one of my favorite sights. It's great to look outside the window & see the leaves returning to the trees! I also love all of those Richard Thompson compositions while he was a member of Fairport Convention, and this song was certainly one of the stand-outs. I got to see Fairport in concert back in 1987 opening for Tull, but of course, that was long after Thompson & Sandy Denny had departed. :-)
fab fab fab band and still going strong. they do a tour of the uk every year and usually hit my neck of the woods in february so it's been my birthday treat to see them once or twice. hurrah. they are so good live. thanks for dropping by. :)
I am glad to see that young people love this music also. I came of age with this kind of music. Its the soundtrack of my life.

Thanks to postie.
Curiosity and no offence meant but wasnt Lillith a bit of a naughty wee monkey? In the Old Testament I mean.
suppose I should wiki that.
