@riebeekkasteel well considering that everyone even remotely involved with the Boer war are now long dead, it seems ignorant to judge the modern British millitary on it. Obviously, it was a horrible thing that happened and im sure that none of our soldiers were happy about it at all.

I'm incredibly proud to be British, and also very lucky. We haven't got the biggest army but we're the most professional, the most skilled and purely the finest Army in the world.

mate i passed slection centre few months ago and am joining in march, MAKE SURE u can run 1.5 miles in about 10:30mins also do loads of situps and press ups, running is the most important thing believe me i suffered and only just passed at pirbright. also do pull ups if u can do about 8-10 ur be fine. :) hope this helps, go to careers office they will give u loads of help like fitness routines and stuff :)

Being able to march with weight on your back is much more important. It's something we do all the time and in training you'll do it most weeks. On excersize your kit weighs a lot, in fact mine weighed more than me.

Take a good Iron, a suit and a towel. You wont need much else. If you want take a DS or PSP or something, but you wont use it much. Basically travel as light as you can. And just try and keep yer head down.
