I once saw two episodes of this at the Museum of Televsion in NYC. I've been desparate to get hold of them ever since. ANY chance at all you could upload more?? I'd be thrilled to see a whole episode again. Thanks for uploading this bit!
It was long thought the entire series (save for a few filmed inserts Terry Jones kept) was wiped, but one got away because it was filed under "history" rather than "comedy".
Then another three (four?) episodes turn up in Australia. The director, Maurice Murphy, kept copies after the production was complete, then though LWT wiped the videotapes.
And, apparently, the last missing episode's turned up. So the series is now complete, in someone's acrhives anyway (probably Terry Jones')
Is Michael Palin an incredible actor, or what? I watch his work in awe of his talent. And as much as I love his travelogues, I wish he still acted.
BTW, if you look (IYKWIM,AITYD) for it, Episode 2 of this 6 part series is available. Unfortunately, it's the only one I've found, damn it all. Damn wiping.
Brilliant little clip. Probably all that remains of the series, sadly enough. Tell a lie, I remember seeing a clip on that 'It's...' documentary featuring a half-time report on the Battle of Hastings. Also, who provides the rather familiar sounding voiceover?
