  • hey man thanks for the info..I change the plugs , oil filter and am gonna try starting it up soon.. I need a battery thats all...I will let you know how it goes.. thnx.. and for the dumb fools out there, aint nothing wrong starting a motor without water in it.. theese big blocks can handle it for a little while.. it aint one of those rice racers motors.. this is the big boys.. 455...

  • I just bought a 1977 Olds 442 Cutlass, with a 1971 455 engine in it. Im curious, what liter is this and how much horsepower does it put out?

  • @drummerboyLK 7.5 liters and they produce between 250-340hp that year.. depends on what car it came out of, if its a 2 or 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust..

  • hillbilly written all over that.

  • @mine9779 i wanted to make sure the engine was sound before i installed it... call it what you will

  • @beeterolds hey buddy I have a olds 455 been sitting in my garage for about 2 years..I took it out of a running delta 88. I need to start it on the ground and make sure it is still running before I put it on my project which am about to do soon. Can you guide me through on how you started the motor on the ground.. Thanks for the info you can send me a message with the info if you like ...

  • What the fuck is this shit! Dude you can’t run a engine like that with out water! your an idiot

  • @crafttom41 dude he knows what he is doing!

  • @crafttom41 are you fucking stupid!! dont comment on my video unless you know what the fuck your talking about you stupid cocksucker.. my engine is FULL of water.. i filled it before i ran it.. you CAN also run an engine for a short period of time without water.. why dont you figure out whats going on before you comment on my page you dumbshit

  • @crafttom41 hey dumbfuck.. you can run an engine for a short period of time without water in it. You obvioulsy dont know your ass from a hole in the ground.

  • @Catalina65389 thanks man, some people just dont have a clue... It did have water in it tho if it matters LOL i think we already proved our point :)

  • V8 engines to us car guys are the equivalent of cocaine to crack heads....

  • let it idle man! I want to hear it BREATH!!!

  • Wow, I've never seen ANYONE start an engine on one of those stands. That's gotta be the craziest thing I've ever seen. Thumbs up for having the guts to do that lol. And it sounds pretty damn good man.

  • @Ph0enyx1978 it aint no thing.. did u notice i had the cherry picker harnessed to the engine as well for added protection? theres no freaking way i would have started it without it. no way

  • hell yeah old school gm iron FTW

  • torque motha fucka! do you have it?

  • Ya i believe i do.. it lights em up if you step in throttle hard around 40mph LOL

  • do you guys think a 455 would fit in a 69-73 impala cause its gm in all

  • absolutely, with full size gm motor mounts of course...lol

  • @nin3tailedf0x uhmm id just go with a 454 or a 427 having a chevy then having a engine that says olds or Pontiac all over it would be a little ridiculous

  • @cobraopts7 unless thats the only engine he has... building a big block chevy isnt cheap..

  • @beeterolds the parts are basically the same price as a 350 small block all your paying is for 25 extra dollars dont belive me go look at summit.com and a 455 is around the same price as a 454

  • @cobraopts7 i live 2miles from summit.. im there almost everyday... the 455 is actually cheaper to build than a 454 in street trim... however if your going all out and expecting an asshole load of power thats where the expenses set in.. cause now you have to have custom parts made for the Olds that will withstand a lot of power whereas the chevys parts are mainly off the shelf

  • @beeterolds would you pick a 455 olds with harder parts to find or a 454 with easier parts to find and if your putting it in a vintage impala or a custom chevy impala wouldn't you want a engine thats made by chevy

  • @cobraopts7 i believe a chevy should remain chevy and olds should remain olds... I have a harder time finding BBC parts for a decent price than olds.. i picked up this motor complete..from carb to pan running for 250.. tell me where you can find a bbc running for that cheap

  • @beeterolds i think your confused with new 454 engine there exspensive the older ones made the same time as the 455 are the cheaper ones

  • @cobraopts7 no im not confused at all.. they are all rather pricey because of the simple fact that everyone wants them for their cars.. it all boils down to you gotta pay if you wanna play... id like to see someone put together a BBC for cheap.. there was a local guy near me trying to sell a 78 454 for 800 with 2 spun bearings... im like your out of your freaking mind

  • where are the casting numbers to tell if it is a 455... i bought a 70 delta and i wanna know where and what casting number is the 455 rocket

  • the casting numbers are on that raised area above the water pump just below the intake manifold... or just look for big letter next to the number 1 cylinder.. a letter indicates the big block a number indicates the small block.

  • that sounds nice. i've never started up a motor on a rebuild stand...

  • me neither.. its really not the safest.. thats why i harnessed it with the cherry picker ;)

  • Sounds fantastic!Keep up the good work!

  • whats up. nice motor. wanna sell?? mor do you know where i can get 1 frrom?

  • its in my car. not for sale..

  • sounds good love that sound i know that feelin i just got my olds running for the first time since i took it apart check it out if you get the chance

  • That sounds awsome man!!!!!

  • Hey my dad has a 76 firebird, with a 455, do you know what, if any, difference there is?

  • yea, its a pontiac.

  • Nice job on your build. Not a little worried about running it like that on your stand? At first I thought it would flip on you. No doubt you had that under control. Again, great job.

  • thanks! ive run engines on stands before.. but NOT a big block, hence i have the cherry picker attached with tension on the chains.. i wanted to run the engine before i put it in my car, ya know to sorta check for leaks and possibly knocks.. thanks again for the nice comment!

  • love it! Like a little kid with a new toy you couldn't wait to hear it run/come to life!

  • lol ya.. its been in the car over a year now..shes a strong runner! thanks for the comment!

  • SOUNDS GOOD....GOOD JOB!

  • thank you very much i appreciate it :)

  • That big block looks like a small block on that engine stand, but when you drop it in the car, it looks like a big block

  • just by any chance do u know the torque ratings on those engines?

  • well is the engine in the car now?

  • its been in since Nov..check out my other video. thanks!

  • Well the engine i had in the car prior to this one was a 350 Olds, turns out the machine shop didnt set up the pistons and pins properly and a few knocked, i found that out after i installed it! so ya i wanted to run this one to be sure it would be alright and so far so good!

  • Great idea checking it out before dropping it in. I had a buddy drop an engine into his race car. Found that it had low oil pressure after it warmed up. Big job to pull it out and put it back again.
