  • soo i see he made the car better..

  • rb engines are good but chevy power all the way, chevys are way more reliable then rbs

  • v8 would be better for drifting because of the down low tourqe but it does depend on the whole set up, the rb30det/tt engines make a lot more torque over the rb26s and is a common drift moter used in nz

  • nope. should have kept the rb.

  • a definite fail, what idiot puts a v8 in a skyline the the stock engine is much more powerful

  • @opiumrx The factory LT1 350 Chevy makes 370 hp. The RB26DETT with all its electronic control and twin turbos creates 380 hp. That's onyl 10 more, not really "much more powerful," as you said it. In fact, stick a set of headers on it and it should be more powerful than the Nissan. You, sir, are the definate fail.

  • @jamesandrewjohnson but if you turn the boost up to something like 14psi it produces around ~340 hp, face it its much easier to tune that rb up, i have one in my nissan s13 so i do know what im talkin about

  • @opiumrx True. I'm more an American muscle type, but I see where you're coming from. But it's not any of your cars or my car, so whatever. Not hurting anyone.

  • @jamesandrewjohnson Agreed =]

  • @opiumrx Although I do think nick081980 sounds dumb saying someone doesn't know anything about racing if they think "some American V8 is a better engine than an RB25 or RB26 then you don't know much about racing," considering "some American V8" in racing would include the made-in-America 8,000 hp Hemis used in top fuel drag racing.

  • This is what you call a TWINKIE. Yellow on the outside but white on the inside. LOL.

  • Thats funny. I have used that for people, but it applies to cars too. So whats the RB powered Mustang ?

  • LOL. I have a white friend that he thinks he Asian so I call him a Egg. White on the outside and yellow on the inside.

  • Yes thats it. I have been called that before.

  • spoiled a nice car looks like a coffee tray in the engine and wtf is it with the big hole in the bonnet just modify the original engine u pricks trying to make a ricer american i guess lol!!!

  • I think the car was from the UK.

  • @binzydarren It's about putting a lighter engine in with the ability to have torque output across the board as compaired to the "RB" most american engines are more reliable without being aspirated in some way or another, that is why they chose a Chevy V8.

  • Everybody needs to relax and embrace different engines. I love big hp import engines but on the same token i love the fact that i can make a reliable 500hp with a natural V8. Each to their own but i like both. This car has embodied this philosophy. Its great to have a passion for a particular engine but you also need to respect other peoples opinions. This car is a testament and metaphor of the great democracy we live in where in we can do as we please, not put people down for being individual.

  • for everyone whos said this was the worst thing ever why are v8's used on top fuel dragsters? cause 6 and 4 cylinder engines cant make hp thats a fail

  • fail !!

  • GM ur a idiot.. plain and simple lets see ur 3,700 Hp car take a corner.. fkin yanks and the straight line bs grow some balls and take a corner ..

  • hell yerrrrrrrrr!

  • FAIL

  • LMAO only way to make a import go fast

  • wow y?

  • AWW Fuking FAIL man...

  • EFI IS BETTER THEN CARB HANDS DOWN

  • Then why do the top drag cars all use carbys? EFI may be better in some situations but not all, your a muppet if you think otherwise.

  • tell u wht fuck head.. u dont know shit about wht u r talking about do u. ill tell ya once. cause i can see that u dont know shit . so it will be here for u to read always.wht they still use carb in top drag cars. is the amount of fuel they must dump in the motor at one time. hints why they flood out all the damn time. and u saying im a muppet? lol ur a cum sucker. go stick ur dads dick back in ur mouth and shut the fuck up

  • Nathan your a sad case, you can get massive injectors that flow 1 litre a minute. Your stupidity and lack of knowledge will be here for all to read.

I bet you drive an automatic Daewoo or something else lame like that

  • Swaps are popular. They have been going on since people first started working on cars. There are lots of reasons for them. In this car, an LS1 would have been cool, but hey, thats what they are running. Not what I want to see, but different is ok. Gets people talking.

  • they make carb swaps for the ls1...maybe its a ls1

  • shoulda put something that was EFI .. like a LS1 or something..

  • Why go EFI? Look at the car.

V8s are cheaper, and a lot more torque, make perfect sense for the swap.

  • I'm looking at the car...looks like a skyline?

yes V8's produce more torque(than a rb26 i presume ur talking about), (only cheaper in some countries) but a EFI V8 will produce even more. EFI engines just perform better than carby engines in most cases. Thats why the LS series engines have been so popular.

  • Its a track only car. So EFI is a none player. You don't know much about carbs do you?

  • Since its a drift car(from the red bull drifitng champs) i believe theres no restrictions on using EFI engine.well I know enough to say that carby engines work less well in winter, cost more to maintain, performance is not as as well, less tuneable, turbo's work poorly on them, only some can be supercharged, fuel distributions not as good, less reliable, limited intake configurations, EFI tends to produce a broader torque curve. If carby was that good they'd still be using it in F1.

  • So you have very limited knowledge about carbs?

  • ok so please explain about carby's then? cause i'm know EFI engines are better, else why have the changed from carby to EFI?

  • oh and from what it seems all your saying is that I have limited knowledge in carby's, when i've explained how EFI's are better.

  • Ya, I am so glad NASCAR went EFI, since they were unable to make any power out of their carbs...What are retractor plates again;-)

Carbs don't perform any different if they are turboed or supercharged, psi is psi.

Son, you don't have the knowledge to make that statement about carbs.

The fastest drag cars on the planet, Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars don't use EFI. Fuel injected with distributors, a set up they have used since the 60s.

  • top fuel funny cars and top fuel dragster are injected now days and have been for many years,

  • this guy knows nothing about skylines.. if he trys to tell u he dose he dont.. this jackass rite here DREWPOH tryed to tell me sklines dont come wit a v6.. lmao dumbass .. ya they do they do come wit a stright six in them.. get ur shit rite.. better yet go fucking die

  • A V6 and an Inline 6 are two totally different engines tho.. So, maybe he does have his "shit rite"?

Maybe you need to get your "shit rite"...

  • if carburetor v8's are so good then why didn't nissan put one in the car to start with. If you really think some american v8 is a better engine than an rb25 or an rb26 than you don't know much about racing, rb's are lighter, smoother, more responsive, make more power, and are way more reliable.

  • Pushrod smallblock v8's are the cheapest way to get reliable power hands down. RB engines are awesome but they're also heavy and expensive to do up and will always lose to a v8 smallblock in aus if your after a good power to $ ratio.

V8 supercars is pathetic and lame!

  • you are a fucking idiot, your little jap motor cant pump out 3,700hp and run 5s like an american v8 with twin turbos. the day I see an I6 making 8000hp then I will say a v8 is a waste , but your little queer motor will never be able to do that

  • Your right. i have a CRX an there only little. Skyline with a V8 thats some cool shit. i would lov to see a R33 with a 289 worked hard. skylines are getting cheap over here in OZ. Might hav a go at it myself.

  • @nick081980 My dad has been an ASE certified master mechanic for quite some time now, and it's funny seeing people say things like "imports are more reliable" around him. He loves imports, but that's because they make the vast majority of his profit, no bull. He worked for about 20 years I think it was. He told me once he takes the price of a part for his 429 big block and multiplies it by two to figure the price for the same on an import and he's usually not too far below the actual price.

  • @nick081980 Also, the carburetor uses emulsion to mix air and fuel, which makes a much finer mist of fuel, while EFI injects it under pressure making small drops. The carb'd fuel burns more thouroughly and makes tons of power, but the more accurate electronically controlled EFI gets better mileage. Also, the stock RB26DETT is rated at 280 hp, while the almost 47 year old Ford 427 SOHC carbureted V8 made 657 hp. If Ford could do it in 1964 and Nissan can't do it now, what makes Nissan better?

  • @nick081980 The only thing out of everything you said there that was true is that the RB is lighter then the old school chev sb.

  • this is a fucking shame to the skyline .. they put a v8 in a v6 car . and the v6 that comes in the car can make upwards of 600 to 1000 bhp . i hope the person who did that ends up wit the block of that motor on there lap. sad for the skyline tho :(

  • none of the skylines came with a V6, its a I6, and the nissan Infiniti and "nissan GTR" arn't skylines, and why a v8 is better than a RB, an LS1 5.7L, more displacement to spool turbos, prettymuch no lag, weighs less than a RB ironblock. more torque, bigger powerband, more low end power .. a ls1 can be built to make 2400hp, i think v8 wins over RB...

  • The R35 and V35 series skylines all come out with V6's in them not striaght 6's and the KPGC110 is a "NISSAN SKYLINE GTR" so is the KPGC10

  • Ok, my bad on the R35 skylines then, i never said anything about KPGC110 and KPGC10 not being a skyline GTR .. i didn't even mention them.

  • you typed "the nissan Infiniti and "nissan GTR" arn't skylines" Do you now admit that there are nissan skyline gtr's?

  • ... what do u mean admit?.. what r u even on about, i never said there wasn't skyline GTR's .. theres heaps of them. u do realise the (nissan) skyline GTR and R35 nissan GTR are different cars, and the R35 GTR isn't a skyline anymore

  • Read what you typed a month ago. "Nissan GTR arn't skylines" This is wrong, be more specific and learn how to spell aren't.

It's only this current R35 model that has separated the GTR from the skyline badge all the others are Skyline GTR's

  • ask any nissan fanbaoy and they'd know that a nissan GTR is a different car, to a nissan skyline GTR, theres nothing wrong with my statement, nissan GTR's are not nissan skylines GTR's, nissan GTR is the name for the R35 GTR's go wiki it or something, i'm sure it'll tell u there

  • i have a nissan skyline r33 gtr and i can think of four places where it says skyline on it.

  • sad... RB26DETT for ever

  • Thats just wrong. Is that carburetted, fuck man you should be shot. nissan would pay to take that car back. fred flinstone engine in a space shuttle. just doesn't work.

  • I'm sure they won't make that big a deal, I mean if Toyota let race team put a push carburetor rod v8 in their Camry then I'm sure Nissan won't make a fussed about the small block V8 in their R33

  • what camry, sorry i'm from Australia. No one races camry's over here, Or are you talking about some sort of nascar. We don't have that either. Although we do have V8 supercars which are fucking awesome and they use push rod v8's. go check them out.

  • um, what about the ford v8 supercars, they dont use push rods ya donkey.

  • Old post i know but yes they do use puhrods. The modular v8 isnt used in v8 supercars a small block windsor is. Holden use small block chevys. Both of which are 5 litres

  • It makes sense but its still blasphemy.

  • Oh well. This month in Hot Rod Magazine, there is a 67 Camaro with a 2JZ in it.... thats got to have some people with smoke coming out of their ears.

  • Haha. Thats gonna have people more pissed off than a V8 Skyline.

  • Hey look the only Skyline in the world thats worth a damn.

  • thats just disgusting.

  • at least it now has a measurable amount of torque

  • very disappointed...

  • gtst are used for drifting because they are rwd you cant drift with a gtr beacuse they are 4wd you need rwd gtst because they steer it 4wd dont they stick to the groung like shit

  • or you can just throw in a lot of power so it still spins the tires, thats what they do with sti's in drifting, they throw in alot of power, allows it to still power-over

  • trust me you can drift a gtr

  • I need to put up a spotters guide for GTS vs GT-R.

In the US everyone just knows "Skyline". They don't know the difference between a GTS or a GT-R. Youtube is full of people that can't see or tell the difference. I guess overall its not important, but incorrect information, is still incorrect information.

  • Its a GTST, not a GTR.

RWD is what you want for fun :)

  • We destroyed 4x RB25s in 2007. Good power, upto 592bhp at one point, but the RB suffers oil control problems. By the end of the year we had destroyed 2 manifolds, 2 turbos, 2 gearboxes, twin plate clutch etc. Although good bhp, torque was a little low and too linear in its delivery. Great for a track car but no good for a drift car. The Chevy is a full race engine with instant response, 480lb/ft, 531bhp and has been stonking all season. 3x 1st places and a 3rd out of the six 2008 EDC rounds.

  • Blasphemy! >=O Put a piece of shit chevy engine into a sophisticated GTR?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Exactly what i was thinking! Why ruin a GT-R =[

  • ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!? shutup
