  • wowwwwwwwww!

  • awesome.....

  • This is awesome, loved the whole dead man walking soundtrack, especially this one

  • Thanks Eddie for all the great songs

  • I just learned to play this song and it's one of my favorite PJ songs of all time. Love this version! Best one out there. Thanks for posting.

  • Happy Birthday Pamela...I miss you.

  • Dildar Hussain on Tabla : )

  • was anybody at Groundwork 2001? Seeing PJ and Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan do this in Seattle a month after 9/11 was one of the most incredible moments Ive seen on stage.

  • 6 people don't have meditating feelings with this music

  • Excitable boy as Warren Zevon would have said. Take nothing away from it however. Love this crazed indie music

    And too many RIPs.

  • The NIRVANA is this! Completely amazing!!

  • 5 people can eat a dick!!!

  • Incredible.

  • WOW!!!!

  • I find this performance very hard to not enjoy. I mean look at Eddie and Nusrat they look their having such a good time.

  • @StraightPunkEdge93 Nusrat had died before this performance. Eddie dedicates this performance in the start. He is sitting with Rahat Ali Khan, the nephew and successor of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

  • someone shoot that person

  • @ScopeDentarro This harmoniousness was SOOO soul nourishing oh how the poetic eargasm my ears received was so poetically fulfilling!!!

  • very beautifull gotta love this if you understand what true talent is...

  • @ScopeDentarro LMAO!!!

  • @ScopeDentarro Don't hate people you don't even know man. You are just getting anger inside of you. You should fight that with love, love for your life, for waking up and living another day.

  • I didn't know such a version of this song existed; this is great.

  • @ScopeDentarro Well, they might just get another kind of experience when listening to this than you are. The fact that they post comments like the ones you quoted doesn't make them "gay" just a bit more apprecieative for the music we are listening to. They are not the assholes here, you are. Some people are blessed with a slightly bigger vocabulary than yours and are able to express how they feel when they listen to music. Saying "this song rocks" doesn't describe this song at all.

  • @ScopeDentarro holly hate message man your doing the same thing but with hate , But good point ,,,

  • Scrubs episode 107 ending sweet i knew i her eddie's voice

  • an increadible song!!!!!

  • just a....great song!

  • both singers are in that rare place of heightened enlightenment. i envy them.

  • goooooooooooooooooood songs

  • Amazing!

  • Is there a link anywhere to all the lyrics, not just the English words? I'd like to read what is being chanted, especially at the end.

  • @TheeZulu they aren't words...it's just variations of sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa (the hindustani/sufi version of do re mi etc.)

  • @thelostpiranha Ya, its actually Pakistani Sufi touch... One of the most famous singers Pak has produced... sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa could be related to doe re me fa so la te doe

  • Beautiful...

  • Eddie's pretty good...but the other singer, Nusrat Jr....is so good. Why isn't THAT guy a millionaire?

  • @hauntedrooftop because h e is true musician, that's why...sorry, that was a dumb question. it should be better asking, why don't we see them together more?

  • @hauntedrooftop He is....look him up....he's very wealthy

  • My goodness, Pearl Jam meets A.R. Rahman. Brilliant!

  • @jonobnz

Yeah, he sounds like that Aracuan bird from Donald Duck!!

  • @jonobnz

dude if u cant feel the energy from that then u just don't understand music

  • sooooo infinitely beautiful!!

  • Vocals from Nusrat in this piece were so haunting.. You could close your eyes and just get lost in them.

  • That is not Nusrat, it is Rahat.....

Get your Fateh Ali Khans right......

  • Yeah I know genius. The original track featured Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.. NOT Rahat.

    Get your facts staight.

  • That was good. That made me chuckle. Cheers. lol

  • if everyone had vedder's veiw on life the world would be a much better place,

  • This is fucking awesome.

  • all around....one of the best songs ever....

  • Vedder attended San Dieguito High School, now called San Dieguito Academy. Vedder donated proceeds from a 2006 Pearl Jam concert in San Diego toward the construction of a theater for the school in the name of his former drama teacher, Clayton E. Liggett. Liggett was Vedder's mentor in high school. Vedder wrote the song "Long Road" (from Merkin Ball) upon hearing of Liggett's death in 1995.[76]

    wikipedia

  • great music they produced together...pearl jam's eddie vedder, michael brooks, nusrat fateh ali and rahet fateh ali all great!

  • I believe this show has at least one more song called "Face of love" or something like that.

What I've longed for seeing it. Thank you very much.

  • soldier of love

  • Nope, not that one.

    That one I know.

I've eared them both, Soldier of love and the one I'm talking about.

    They're different.

  • anyone know where i can find this whole show? where it was and what year?

  • Scott Stapp is one of mayor responables for destroy grunge reputation. With his shitty songs, he helped to MTV to make people believe that it's not necesary have feelings for apreciate grunge music, and they turn this "grunge" (post-shit-grunge) in stuff like Poison without make up. Fuck Scott Stapp, and more important, FUCK MTV!!!

  • Jeff is playing bass, but whos playing guitar beside him?

  • EXELENTE GRANDE PEARL

  • The Beatles burn out....

Pearl Jam rises like a pheonix from the ashes..

    Resurrection of the beatles....

    Long live king Edd..

  • 2 true my friend

  • @cdonguitar I can write a lot but only one line says it all. "The Beatles are immortal"!

  • @cdonguitar what the fuck are you on

  • Excellent ! Amazing mix of musical spheres !!

  • Mistico! Pelle d'oca!

  • Amazing!

  • haha...who'd of thought...Eddie Vedder and Scott Stapp...haha

  • Scott Stapp- soulless, witless,talentless

    Eddie Vedder- brilliant

  • the only thing that you are right about is Eddie being brilliant

  • Simplesmente fantastico...

  • the best opening song of any , closely followed by release

  • this is a badass opener... or first song back from a break... picture it... the band sitting in a circle... acoustic... would be nice. I like when they open with Of The Girl, too. what can i say? pearl jam can do no wrong!

  • what a performance! what a great combination of voices and sonorities:-) sublime!

  • they opened at wembley 2007 with this amazin track, truely was a great start to a great gig

  • Great version of this song!

  • Amazing

both Nusrat and Rahat are legends

  • Is that Quali Sufi music? it sound like it is somehow... or am I wrong?

  • When they put my body on the funeral pyre, I'll request this song be played. What better way to transition into the next realm than having this work of beauty lead the way? peace -

  • i bring this song with me in thailand, she take my breath away

  • I loved this song..touched my heart immediately..amazing!

  • wait, thats not Guagmire?

  • ya gotta laugh- cos he kinda does. beautiful version of this great song.

  • wheres matt cameron at i know he was in the band by this time ?>???? anyone know

  • actually when this song was written, Jack Irons was the drummer. Matt Cameron doesnt come into the picture until about 5-6yrs later...

  • In fact, the song has been released at '95, and Matt join the band at '98 tour. Yes, three year later! Jack join the band at '94 tour.

  • That's Rahat Fateh Ali Khan..Nusrat's nephew

  • nice to hear a variation on one of the absolute finest tunes in both the Pearl Jam and the venerable Neil Young's discographies....besides, its all one song.

  • To the comments about the Pakistani singer overdoing his part: he's only restricted to Sargam(sol fa...) and without actual words to sing, has to make do with intonations.

  • Nusrat you're a fucking hero. A true legend!!! The greatest!! RIP.

  • Awesome song =)

    It gives me peace =)

  • Pretty special.

  • hmmm. not in the same spirit as the original.

  • Perfect, just perfect. Even better when you're high lol

  • interesting how I have no idea what he is saying but it doesn't really matter

  • tribute version is great too...the combo of their voices on this one gives me chills

  • nice song!

  • beautiful.. thats the way of life.. find yourself - long road

  • ko ol

  • Rahth fateh ali khan

  • How I love this song!

  • Nusrat was the guy the ultimate surf music....
