I have been into open source ever since i learned about computers. Steve Jobs is a genius, he brought the PC to every home. Apple was and is a revolutionary company. But venturing into phones is not their cup of tea. The need to make the Iphone OS open source like the Google Android for the brilliant minds in the world to contribute. Even though Linux lost out in market share to Windows and MacOS, Google Android will not follow suit!

Since when has Microsoft been so open and let people openly root their phones etc etc. The only grudge Google has had is ROM developers distributing Google Apps with their ROM's...which to be honest is fair enough. Hopefully Verizon gets the iPhone this year but not crossing my fingers. I just hope there's a way to completely disable the lag/spam fest Flash on my Droid will be. Not only will the phone come to a grinding halt but most likely crash even more often than it does now.

That would be crashing when I open Live Wallpapers, Skype, Mail, the keyboard, Beautiful Widgets and on and on. My iPhone NEVER crashed like this pos Droid.

I had an iPhone 3GS overheat and die on me within 4 months of owning it. Apple was no help and neither was AT&T. My only solution was to buy a new phone, without any discounts because their piece of shit couldn't handle what I was running. I've never had a problem with my Droid and it's overclocked to 1.1GHz. Doesn't crash, runs smooth, TRUE multitasking. Not this crap ass "fast app switching" Apple is FINALLY adding to their phones.

And, no matter what, new phones will always cover the market, break the news, we can't stop that. Google Nexus today, Evo 4G tomorrow, and in 3 days another phone. You shouldn't count on that to be honest, both phones are awesome imo. You should just follow your heart and choose, ignore the rest..

The price of an iphone vs. android in europe is a HUGELY valid point--one that certainly should not be overlooked.. If an iphone was $1000 and comparable roid $500/$250.. the choice for most is obvious..

The iphone is still faster at processing 3D graphics than the N1.. BUT.. half or quarter of the price is a HUGE thing, especially if you're not already using/used to the glory of some of these iphone apps.. My goal is an evo 4G + an ipad then life is perfect.. (in this area at least)

actually if you search around the net, the buttons are wearing off everybodies HTC hero from sprint.. I was able to cajole them into replacing mine (first one they sent was WORSE than this one..) finally got a brand new one... it's going on ebay, switching back to my mogul. Low build quality.. but hey, a hero is only $80 at best buy with contract, and the best sprint (currently) offers..

I dont know about the nexus one but there is a video out there featuring the nexus one watching a 17 min youtube video and the battery didnt go all the way down, about 6% drained on a 17min youtube video.

The droid however has a dedicated graphics processor which (when used by flash on the browser) will probably only take up as much battery as it does when playing a 3d graphical game.

I've done my research. all thats left is to try it out on both the droid and N1

@Robindahoodz That's because the android youtube app uses the h.264 delivery system developed for.. yep.. you guess it.. iphone.. h.264 codec is backed by hardware decoding--thus all of the stress is taken off the battery chewing CPU..

N1 is FAR FAR FAR superior to droid.. but, n1 is GSM (tmobile/att) and droid is CDMA (verizon only, unless you buy one grey market, not sure if they cracked the provisioning menu on these yet or not..)
