Looking forward to get this on Blu Ray or DVD! Looks like a good movie to me. And I fairly couldn't care less about the vile democratic propaganda made against China. I'm really pissed with the behaviour of the West. Knowing nothing but judging everything.
@FengNing85 It shares values and a socialist moral, whereas american movies normally transmit to the youth ultra-individualism and the worst possibile vices.
Don't hate this film because of the current Chinese Communist Party. The CCP of today is not the Chinese Communist Party of 1921. The degeneration of the CCP began with the murder of 50.000 communists by Chang-Kai-Shek. The remaining 10.000 members became puppets of Stalin and Mao.
But this film is about the era before the degeneration. The fight against Chinese imperialism is genuine and that is why this film is not wrong. The Chinese Communist Party was a workers party in 1921.
@cosemikat You're just angry China took away your jobs in making those said dangerous products Vietnam was making WAY beforehand. But can't argue about the food, that sh-t is deadly. Still, don't hate brother, just stop eating food and buying stuff from China kay?

A lot of you don't understand how serious this recession is because many of you are too dumb to realize what is going on around the world. @qbraveT I thank you for the refreshing comment. It's mostly a matter of bias. When there are films honoring country, in America for example, it is not propaganda it is OK. @promdawg ....... i've looked everywhere. i'm pro communist and love China and hate the demonstarters...but i don't see anything anywhere about them being pro communist.
comparing US war movies to this is ridiculous. such american war movies often are aimed to expose war as tragic and disgusting, while often criticizing the US govt. also, the US govt is not actively involved in such (or any) films which is not the case here. lastly - the most basic description of legitimacy is when a govt does not worry about its own legitimacy. the u.s. govt doesnt ruthlessly aim to protect its image while the ccp regularly censors its ppl and promotes propaganda such as this
awesomeo, the film looks pretty epic. but i reckon China's rebirth as a major power is more due to Deng than Mao. Mao nearly destoryed the country, it was Deng that allowed to rise again
I just came back from China a few days ago and when I was there, posters of this film was all over the nation, and it was the only thing people wanted to talk about.
Movie looks fcuking epic, now if only they had movies about Tienanmen square or the Cultural revolution as a counterweight.
Yes, saving private ryan glorified the military (one could argue it glorified military service in general..and not just american military service), either way it wasn't funded by the american government and students don't have to watch it in class.
Also, Hollywood has plenty of counterweights.
Still..movie looks epic, I am totally watching it.
When you do get over this a propraganda film funded by the government its not bad, ive watched it and the action scences are good and really has cinematic moments, just give this a chance is all
Ow and where is the part china supporting, this idiot "president" of syria (assad) And blocking every single resolution condeming violence against civilians? Dont get me wrong I love china in every way I can and love all its people exept for the government, I am not american I am european....
Where are the parts in this movie about opposition getting arrested and put in jail without trail? Where is the part where the chinese head of state has dinner with wacko Kim Jong Il? Where is the part china blocking every single western blockbuster atm just to be sure everyone goes see this movie? Where is the part where you can see websites getting blocked and sensured just because the government in china doesnt want its people to see our comments? This movie is a farce!
anyone curious about the pro-communist party posts here should look into the "五毛党" or "wu mao dang. " as a young chinese communist party member with a command of basic english you can earn the equivalent of 50 cents per post on news sites, forums or video sites such as youtube; so long as your post promotes the party. of course no perspective is completely unbiased or objective but lets call a spade a spade right?
Go to any theater in China and count the number of forced individuals awake during the movie. Ask them also does this represent the truth of their existence, of their history or do they think it was controlled by design. And ask them who the was one of the greatest mass murderers in history. The people of China should be allowed to make up their own minds, not be force fed what the state requires of them.
You are now ruled by tyrants under the guise of communism. What kind of government for the people silences the voices of the people? Knowledge is free. The individuals rights supersede the collectivist waist of communism. It builds nothing but a house of desolation. I look forward to the day when your tyrants are killed, and the individual can speak his mind without fear. Death to communism, death to collectivism, death the murder, death to oppression. Speak even if your voice trembles.
A word to all those tyrants/cogs if the Chinese government and those brain washed citizens posting here. China only has achieved the success it has now because of the economic doctrine of capitalism. In fact if your state industries ended your economy would even grow faster. The fact that you have a partly free trade economy shows that your leaders were wrong.
China needs to borrow another counties will and character just to have a 'sense of character'. Otherwise, they look cookie cutter boring to the world. Communism sucks.
There was widespread international condemnation of the government's use of force against the protesters.[5]
Following June 4, the government conducted widespread arrests of protesters and their supporters, cracked down on other protests around China, banned the foreign press from the country and strictly controlled coverage of the events in the domestic press. The Communist Party initiated a large-scale campaign to purge officials deemed sympathetic to the protests.
The movement lasted seven weeks after Hu's death on 15 April. Premier Li Peng, a hardline conservative, declared martial law on May 20, but no military action took place until June 4, when the tanks and troops of the People's Liberation Army moved into the streets of Beijing, using live fire while proceeding to Tiananmen Square to clear the area of protestors. The exact number of civilian deaths is not known, and the majority of estimates range from several hundred to thousands.
From Tiananmen Square they later expanded to the surrounding streets. Non-violent protests also occurred in cities throughout China, including Shanghai and Wuhan. Looting and rioting occurred in various locations throughout China, including Xi'an and Changsha.[6]
The protests were sparked by mass mourning over the death of former CPC General Secretary Hu Yaobang, a Party official who had been purged for his support of political liberalization.[3] By the eve of Hu's funeral, 100,000 people gathered at Tiananmen Square.[4] Beijing students began the demonstrations to encourage continued economic reform and liberalization,[5] and evolved into a mass movement for political reform.
Right, this movie is propaganda, none of these ever happened. As far as the West concerns, only things that happened few and far in between like Korea war, Tiananmen Incident, and a few bad news that CNN uttered about China. And in between, China just stood still frozen like a movie on pause.
Yeah right, if you are not ready to accept that other countries and people also have history (very likely longer than the US), then at least not think you know more about Chinese history than Chinese ppl
How dare americans talk about this film? America is by far the greatest producer of propaganda, and they export it worldwide. America possesses the world's biggest propaganda machine ever, Hollywood. It's sphere of influence is way bigger than the Chinese would ever dream to have.
People outside the US get bombed daily with the wonderful "american way of life" and how glorious is the US Army via movies and US-backed media. Ohhhh sure, it's not propaganda, it's "business". I call it bullshit.
@cbrav0 so true...and i dont really get it why always the clueless kids are crying around about some movie/videoclip they dont like, its a movie not a docu about chinese history...go and hate yourself than other things that doesnt have anything to do with you...
anyway this movie looks good, many great actors seen here.
If the students had been protesting for more communism, they'd have built a big statue of Marx or Lenin. They didn't. They built a big Statue of Liberty, i.e. a symbol of democracy, free speech and the rule of law.
You should read 'Beijing Coma' by Ma Jian...except if you're in China you can't because it's been banned. Tells the truth you see.
Behold how communist china rewrites their history and praises, the mass murderer Mao who murdered 65 million of their own people and the authoritarian government. “1984” revisited. Communist china is an evil empire in the making. Mao outran Stalin who only murdered 45 million. This movie is not ready for primetime “ Battleship Potemkin” in the 21st century produced and censored production for all 1.34 billion brain wash education.
It is meant to be a newer version of propangda for Communist China. Hu's 90 minute speech in praisng the motherland alluded to this movie of epic proportion. All the while when human rights violation is an all time high.
I have yet to watch this movie, but the trailer seems to suggest that the Communist Party was responsible for defeating the warlords (which is far from historical fact). Perhaps the movie is quite different from the trailer, but I'll have to see it. To anyone who has seen the movie: what are your takes on its historical accuracy?
And to clarify my earlier statement, by "Communist Party", I was referring to the CCP, because I'm well aware that the Soviets contributed a great amount of aid and training to the KMT-led coalition against the warlords.
The Chinese communist revolution was the greatest event of the 20th Century. Mao was a servant of the people — and they rose up from the villages and mountains and farms to take China back from the empires carving her up, the warlords raping the people and the landlord and government parasites.
China's rulers today should fear the people, just as they fear Mao's ghost. The workers and villagers will take China back again.
@eknick lol you literally have no idea what happened during tiananmen square, much less the slew of back-page retractions thewestern press made that said the Chinese governments accounts of the events were accurate and the reportings of mass slaughter act were false, additionally you foolishly believe a bunch of people who are angry their country wont let them be idly rich millionaires have the best interests of poor chinese at heart
@eknick If you knew anything about the Tienanmen Square protests it was a PRO-Communist protest. They were protesting the fact that China was becoming less and less socialist after the death of Chairman Mao.
It is just disgusting that the actual reason as to why the students were protesting gets lost in translation in the west....
@promdawg unless and unless? China never was a communist country. They went from a stalinist dictatorship under Mao to a semi-capitalist dicatorship they have today. The only true practice of communism was the Paris Commune...other then that communism has never been practiced as it was truly intended
Why would China say that they gunned down a group that wanted Democratic Communism? If you don't believe what I said then YOU must have been dropped on your head...
@promdawg Not exactly dude. Wang Hui encapsulates the protesters' motivation by stating that, " When looked at from a broader or synthetic perspective, however, the reforms that the greater part of the populace hoped for and their ideals for democracy and rule by law were for the purposes of guaranteeing social justice and the democratization of economic life through the restructuring of politics and the legal system."
People, please go read about the Tienanmen Square protests yourself. Don't disgrace the memory and actions of those who participated in those protests.
@DeathZeroTolerance dude you are in a clinic state called 'hyper-exciting'. people come here only argues in case of this particular movie, not Tiananmen shit. if you wanna to drag some shit with you, plz type in tiananmen on top of the youtube and click search. then go to any of the video, there will be more professional people to join your discussion.
@segregator236 Yes but American theatres do not clear out competing movies so that audiences must watch this movie. Neither does American companies, organizations, educational institutions persuade people to go watch a certain movie. It's hilarious that you are comparing American democracy to authoritarian China. LMAO
@segregator236 US serviceman committed some of the worst acts of barbarity in any given war they were involved in. 3/4 of n. korea's population was exterminated on purpose.
@segregator236 have to admit, you are damn right on the definition of propaganda, however, i take it as you also agree this movie is a piece of propaganda, since u already said 'every' movie is,
btw, yankees do occasionally tell stories of both sides, u never seen 'Letters from Iwo Jima'? have ya?
@segregator236 Right, but their success relies on the already brainwashed, or the simply mindless ones: at least Jerry Bruckheimer doesn't try to force his shit down EVERYBODY'S throat, because he only needs money, not brain-puppeting power. Spielberg is a helpless case somewhere between the other two.
@Xoxinwulf The fact that those movies aren't commissioned by the gov't just makes it worse, because it means that nowadays the State is not the only brain-washing entity in the US, people do it willingly.
Democracy makes us believe that because the State is not telling us what to do everyday we're free, and that's clearly not the case. Democracy is in fact the worst kind of dictatorship, because it validates being under the yoke.
@segregator236 You're an idiot. Did you know that 'Beginning of the Great Revival' is a STATE FUNDED movie? They will also require school children to watch it in their schools. This is much different then Saving Private Ryan. Please get smarter before even making a post.

comparing US war movies to this is ridiculous. such american war movies often are aimed to expose war as tragic and disgusting, while often criticizing the US govt. also, the US govt is not actively involved in such (or any) films which is not the case here. lastly - the most basic description of legitimacy is when a govt does not worry about its own legitimacy. the u.s. govt doesnt ruthlessly aim to protect its image while the ccp regularly censors its ppl and promotes propaganda such as this

RickyScarma7 8 months ago
You are now ruled by tyrants under the guise of communism. What kind of government for the people silences the voices of the people? Knowledge is free. The individuals rights supersede the collectivist waist of communism. It builds nothing but a house of desolation. I look forward to the day when your tyrants are killed, and the individual can speak his mind without fear. Death to communism, death to collectivism, death the murder, death to oppression. Speak even if your voice trembles.
lastfaceseen24 8 months ago
A word to all those tyrants/cogs if the Chinese government and those brain washed citizens posting here. China only has achieved the success it has now because of the economic doctrine of capitalism. In fact if your state industries ended your economy would even grow faster. The fact that you have a partly free trade economy shows that your leaders were wrong.

China needs to borrow another counties will and character just to have a 'sense of character'. Otherwise, they look cookie cutter boring to the world. Communism sucks.

Several senior officials, most notably Party General Secretary Zhao Ziyang, were placed under house arrest.
lastfaceseen24 8 months ago
There was widespread international condemnation of the government's use of force against the protesters.[5]
Following June 4, the government conducted widespread arrests of protesters and their supporters, cracked down on other protests around China, banned the foreign press from the country and strictly controlled coverage of the events in the domestic press. The Communist Party initiated a large-scale campaign to purge officials deemed sympathetic to the protests.
lastfaceseen24 8 months ago
The movement lasted seven weeks after Hu's death on 15 April. Premier Li Peng, a hardline conservative, declared martial law on May 20, but no military action took place until June 4, when the tanks and troops of the People's Liberation Army moved into the streets of Beijing, using live fire while proceeding to Tiananmen Square to clear the area of protestors. The exact number of civilian deaths is not known, and the majority of estimates range from several hundred to thousands.
lastfaceseen24 8 months ago
From Tiananmen Square they later expanded to the surrounding streets. Non-violent protests also occurred in cities throughout China, including Shanghai and Wuhan. Looting and rioting occurred in various locations throughout China, including Xi'an and Changsha.[6]
lastfaceseen24 8 months ago

Yeah right, if you are not ready to accept that other countries and people also have history (very likely longer than the US), then at least not think you know more about Chinese history than Chinese ppl
honghuy37 8 months ago
How dare americans talk about this film? America is by far the greatest producer of propaganda, and they export it worldwide. America possesses the world's biggest propaganda machine ever, Hollywood. It's sphere of influence is way bigger than the Chinese would ever dream to have.
People outside the US get bombed daily with the wonderful "american way of life" and how glorious is the US Army via movies and US-backed media. Ohhhh sure, it's not propaganda, it's "business". I call it bullshit.

All the while when human rights violation is an all time high.
eslaugh 8 months ago
I have yet to watch this movie, but the trailer seems to suggest that the Communist Party was responsible for defeating the warlords (which is far from historical fact). Perhaps the movie is quite different from the trailer, but I'll have to see it. To anyone who has seen the movie: what are your takes on its historical accuracy?
mrdrfez 8 months ago
And to clarify my earlier statement, by "Communist Party", I was referring to the CCP, because I'm well aware that the Soviets contributed a great amount of aid and training to the KMT-led coalition against the warlords.

The Chinese communist revolution was the greatest event of the 20th Century. Mao was a servant of the people — and they rose up from the villages and mountains and farms to take China back from the empires carving her up, the warlords raping the people and the landlord and government parasites.
China's rulers today should fear the people, just as they fear Mao's ghost. The workers and villagers will take China back again.

CajunCommie 8 months ago
@eknick If you knew anything about the Tienanmen Square protests it was a PRO-Communist protest. They were protesting the fact that China was becoming less and less socialist after the death of Chairman Mao.
It is just disgusting that the actual reason as to why the students were protesting gets lost in translation in the west....

@promdawg unless and unless? China never was a communist country. They went from a stalinist dictatorship under Mao to a semi-capitalist dicatorship they have today. But do US movies tell both sides? No.

@segregator236 Yes but American theatres do not clear out competing movies so that audiences must watch this movie. @segregator236 Right, but their success relies on the already brainwashed, or the simply mindless ones: at least Jerry Bruckheimer doesn't try to force his shit down EVERYBODY'S throat, because he only needs money, not brain-puppeting power. Spielberg is a helpless case somewhere between the other two.
haranoe 8 months ago
@segregator236 US films aren't government commissioned, just meant to appeal to the masses in an attempt to profit.
Xoxinwulf 8 months ago
@Xoxinwulf The fact that those movies aren't commissioned by the gov't just makes it worse, because it means that nowadays the State is not the only brain-washing entity in the US, people do it willingly.
Democracy makes us believe that because the State is not telling us what to do everyday we're free, and that's clearly not the case. Democracy is in fact the worst kind of dictatorship, because it validates being under the yoke.
