  • Brian Robbo was the best lead. Then Scott. And then Moore. (He left them in the lurch when the shit got to much).

  • when everything is shit in life all you have to do is listen to the live and dangerous album from start to finish and then all is well with the world again!

  • Fuck the Rock and Roll Hall of SHAME!!!

  • 26 years ago today that legend died! .... His shadow cast over all great rock music he preceded. I doubt I'm the only one who hates this new era of talentless twats with absolutely NOTHING to say but 10,000 watts to say it with. However.. As long as there are whiskey sprayed SM-58s and Les Pauls turned up to 11 his spirit will continue to live through Roll n Roll. R.I.P Phil Lynott

  • Unmeasurably above virtually anything today!

  • I am hoping this isn't a message to me..... I would not tell a "silly girl" I wrote something for her that I didn't... writing comes so easy to me I would just write something new for the "silly girl"..... so please believe me as this is true... I have written master works while thinking of you....love tom b

  • so tight ..but so much swing its what the more recent bands dont get..imo

  • Johnny Fox LP - I Love This :) QC

  • ahh the good old days when music and talent actually meant something! by the way Brian Downey has to be the most underated drummer of all time..

  • So this guitar solo is actually done by Mr S Gorham when the kid `robo was at home after a bar fight and was too injured to play? And he got to play it live & got all credit for a great solo act?! Sorry all Moore, White, Sykes & Robo fans. The spine or backbone if you will, of this great band always was Lynott, Gorham & Downey. The others was only extras.

  • @Smithfieldis

No that is not right.Don't Believe A Word is from the Johnny The Fox LP which Robbo played on as a full time member. He has talked about how he had a row with Phil over the song because originally it was slow.

On the next LP, Bad Reputation, Robbo went AWOL.

  • Back in days when music was real...

  • @inopartners Yes mate. Makes today's middle-of;the-road look complete corporate bland rock. Fortunately I grew up in the 80's so I saw some cracking live bands.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, this is a band that poored themselves into their music. Especially Phil and Gary. They embodied the art of creation and it is a shame that todays current performers just dont care as much. There will never be a another band like Thin Lizzy.

  • PHIIIIIIILLLL !!!!!!!!!!

  • Don't believe there is a dislike button

  • In the seventies the GIBSON LES PAUL ruled.Everyone used em'.

Well not everyONE,but they were popular.

  • R.I.P Mum, I know this was your favourite song :'( I love you and always, x

  • yeh baby !

  • phat sound!

  • I didnt know they werent that big in america , anyway Lizzy are one of the bests

  • bloody murder

  • 10% of the people on this planet have RFID microchips implanted in them

  • Robo looks a bit like a young Eddie Van Halen...IMOA, the best dual guitar line up Thin Lizzy ever had.

  • PURE GENIUS!

  • Saw them in 1977, Kansas City. Still the best show ever.

  • Gary Moore always was the best lead for Thin Lizzy. He had something that 99% of "musicians" today don't have, soul. I like to think my music has a little of that. If you want, check out some of my vids and let me know what you think. RIP Gary.

  • @jbens911 no way man ,Gorham an Robbo were the ultimate ,Moore is cool too ,but the other two were perfect together ,wish Robbo would come back !!

  • @1jackiea All this from a mj fan. what the hell

  • @jbens911 Gary Moore was a fantastic and brilliant guitarist and he will always be remembered for his guitar work, a legend. One disagreement with your post. In my opinion Robertson was the best lead guitarist Lizzy ever had, didn't get the credit he deserved for a lot of the guitar lines that made Lizzy.

  • @MrMegabreath

I agree with you man! The real innovative lead git work on Live and Dangerous is actually Robertson's stuff.

    Scott's great too tho.

  • @4JRimmer Agreed, Scott Gorham is great. Most of the Bad Reputation album was his guitar work. With the "1st" guitar changes throughout the band he was such a "Backbone" for Lizzy.

  • @jbens911 He has soul, but to say 99 percent of musicians today don't have soul shows you clearly haven't got a clue.

  • @jbens911 I really don't see how you can say that 99% of musicians today don't have any soul. Just because you don't like their style of music doesn't mean their not singing with every bit of passion and energy they have. I'm sure there are many artists in the charts today maybe singing about the death of their parents, drug addiction, and love. They are probably singing in their own way.

  • @chucky507 I'm not saying you have to like or even listen to it, but don't mistake their lack of passion for your intolerance. Sometimes you need to look past the superficial to see the person.

  • @chucky507 I simply meant that most of what's on the radio today is shit and the "artists" that use autotune and write songs that contain pretty much the same generic topics, ie. more bitches, how much weed they smoke, faster cars, bigger houses, etc, are not musicians at all. Gary Moore could express himself through a guitar as well if not better than he could with words. That's fuckin' soul. There are atists today that have soul, like the late Amy Winehouse, but most don't have a scrap of it.

  • @jbens911 emmmmmmmmmm was scott gorham

  • @jbens911

I agree that Gary was by far the best player and I know what you mean by him having a lot of soul in his playing. Along with Phil, he is missed so much, but I think Gorham & Robertson just had the magic that created the sound that we all know and love.

  • I photographed THin Lizzy in 1977 when they opened for Queen. To see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • Is it right that Mr Robertson got in to a bar fight, broke his wrist and have to leave the band for Mr Moore. Mr Rob came back later in the band. And all the guitars were played by the american Mr Gorham at the album `Johnny the fox. All the guitar solos as well. So the furious guitar solo ´dont belive a word´ is from Mr Gorham..? Or what..

  • This still sounds exciting. It's got that perfect structure - its message is simple - accessible, and the guitar riff is like liquid feeling.

  • This still sounds exciting.

  • great great great....

  • eric moony?

  • to @thegreatlizzy, Yes, I'm sure you were there when Phil wrote this song, that's how you know what he's referring to, learn how to spell correctly, did you injure what's left of your brain in a bar fight?

  • @tealshelp come on yorkshire don;t be like that ,SO OBVIOUS ,mate.

  • Brian is awesome player of the blues

  • @xXxmafiexXx AND a "negro race" as Beesdisdat said XD

  • what is it he says before Don't believe a turd? "this song is for all the ..... "?

  • shut up and listen, it willavoid you runfor anything on your keyboard ...

  • I love Phil's voice!!!!

  • @unravelled1962 Gary Moore was great but I think it's pretty obvious this was Phil's baby. His stage presence and song writing were unrivaled. Addict or not...he put his heart and passion into his music and that's more than a lot of people can say dead or alive. Thin Lizzy was a pretty darn good live too which is important in the music world

  • i love thin lizzy too bad they arent still around

  • Great audio

  • Slightly different from Midge Ure debting in the usa. I have watched every one that has ever played with Thinn Lizzy. WHAT BAND HAS SUCH CLOUT ? These day's are gone now. But through your devotion to good music, they will never die. Phill you inspire many, many people. As do the the band.

  • I miss Phil...

  • There should be a "love" button.

  • My guitar is the exact same design as Brian's (Robbo's). I feel proud!

  • I can't believe U2 are from the same country! What happened in those few years?!?!?

  • I'm becoming a massive fan of Thin Lizzy now, I can't stop listening to their songs on Youtube!

  • love this band with everything i am. i grew up listening to them with my daddy, and everytime i hear them they never fail to bring a smile to my face.

  • Without Lizzy, i would not be a musician. Thanks for the music :D

  • 20 people believed every word.

  • @davidsams63

Yes, I fully agree... Garry Moore and Snowy White made their mark brilliantly, but for me the classic Thin Lizzy guitar duo were Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham!

  • Brian - PAF's

    Scott - Deluxe

    right ?

  • def leppard did a cover of this song. great cover, great original version.

  • Weird comparing ways of playing it, since i learned Thin Lizzy by ear. The joys of Am riffs that kick ass lolz-Chris Harmason

  • IMO, any guitarist fortunate enough to work with Phil Lynott had to be something special. Yes, Thin Lizzy had several lineup changes, but all of them brought something to the band. With sincere respect to all of you, I wish everyone would stop arguing about Gary, Scott, and Brian, because they were all excellent guitarists in their own right. Phil and Gary are greatly missed. They left their own personal indelible, incredible marks on the music world and I for one am so thankful they did.

  • 2.43 of pure hard rock genius....i would've gievn my left nut to have seen them back then...i was 7!!

  • best live band ever

  • The song that got me into Thin Lizzy.

  • It was the 70 s, remember , long hair was in .

  • @1jackiea Scott Gorham's hair is not a discustion Its hot.

  • @bsuite123

HAHA long hair rules mate whether its on women or men.

  • @bsuite123 Short hair is for conformist sheep and accountants.

  • ur a fuckin idiot

  • @freak Long hair had a cultural relevance well into the 90s (I won't educate you and spell it out, I'd rather leave you in the dark).

You're too dumb and/or uncultured to understand my initial comment.

You took offence because you're an insecure conformist (and too dumb to know it).

Furthermore, criticizing something you don't understand makes YOU the idiot, idiot.

Finally, you'd have gotten ur ass kicked in the parking lot before the show at a Thin Lizzy concert back in the day.

  • Phil Lynott books for sale: My boy by Philomena Lynott and The Rocker by Mark Putterford. Mail me at liamkiernan@yahoo.com for more details. I'm living in Celbridge, Kildare.

  • Enough talk of this Bono fucker. Thin Lizzy kicks major ass & Phil Lynott is a God!!!!

  • this band is great in my opinion. it is way before my time but i must say i am an old soul. As far as all this back and forth arguing, come on people what ever happened to enjoying the music and not trying to force your likes taste on others, as a person whose life and passion is music, let the world listen with their ears.

  • Comment removed

  • @jbawn This @thegreatlizzy has been posting the most disgusting untrue rubbish about Gary Moore using multiple log in names, one of many being @yorkshiretactors, be aware, he means to upset & irritate as many GM fans just for the sake of being a total pain, he resorts to verbal abuse when proven wrong, which, goes without saying, HE IS ALWAYS WRONG!

  • @hubbo66 dont worry mate,no ones listening to the prick

  • @thegreatlizzy Gary Moore is not here loser! and stop posting under multiple names you clueless fuckwit!

  • who would vote down on this? this is a great song.

  • Someday im gonna die,

but be sure that when I do,

Im gonna be rocking in heaven or in hell

or wherever you send me to...

The harder I think about it,

The better it sounds to me,

with Jimi Hendrix, Phil Lynott, and Freddie Mercury.

  • @JackyLipps imagine that lineup playing together with Jim Morrison

  • @wingnut117 Would be mind blowing! stick keith moon on drums!

  • I do prefer the version with John Sykes but this is amazing still!! RIP phil and gary xx you are two of my favourite muscians xx
