  • Ugh. I reminds me of the Chiffons vs. George Harrison. Really, I can't stand these copyright claims; they are all different songs with their own different styles and shouldn't be considered THEFT of anything! I can't wait for Johann Pachelbel to rise from the dead and demand royalties from all the artists that ripped off his Canon in D.

  • Someone once pointed out that "My Guitar Gently Weeps" by The Beatles, Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" and Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" all have the same downward chord progression. That's three mega-songs. I suppose the Beatles could have sued Zep and Chicago.

  • What's wrong with people? They're people!

  • They all sound like POP MUZIK released in 1979 by M.

  • This is just bizarre. There is NO similarity whatsoever between Pop Musik and these songs.

  • When the similarities between this song and the theme song of the 1984 film Ghostbusters were heard, Huey Lewis sued Ray Parker Jr. for plagiarism, claiming that Parker had stolen the melody from "I Want a New Drug". Lewis had been approached to compose the main theme song for the film, but had to decline because of his work on the soundtrack for Back to the Future.

  • ive mixed M pop musik and Huey lewis and the news together sounds brilliant,

  • No nearly close enough to that M. song. The dead giveaway was that Huey Lewis & The News were asked to write a song for Ghostbusters and they said no, and then the Ghostbusters theme appeared. Pretty obvious influence if you ask me, but maybe not quite enough to win a lawsuit. Coldplay vs. Satriani on the other hand? Blatent rip-off.

  • All of these songs sound like Madonna and Lady Gaga

  • @88fredmcfred this was before them

  • thanks to all of them for such great music.

    it's that simple for me.

  • Check out the Original to sound like these songs, Soul Finger by The Bar-K's.

  • I love this song!!! Here is my dance along video… Most people delete response videos… Not sure why, because in most cases they add more viewers… What the hell is wrong with people?

  • Interesting...Thanks for linking those together!

  • Fail...

  • Well i like all of them but i would go with M-pop muzik for the win lol hahahahahaha!

  • How about "Gloria" by the Doors? Same chord progression in the Key of "E".

  • We're dealing with basslines and chord sequences, which are the most prominent parts of these songs. The producers of the Ghostbusters movie wanted to use Huey Lewis's song but Lewis refused to rewrite the lyrics. Therefore they hired Ray Parker to write the theme and told him to make it sound like Lewis's song. Since Lewis had a water-tight case against them, they settled out of court and then asked Lewis to do the music for Back to the Future.

  • WTF? The melody, THE MOST CRITICAL ELEMENT, is essentially nothing like it? Sure, they have the same chords, but if you watch "Axis of Awesome Four Chord Song", you see that LOADS of songs have the same chords, but they don't all sue each other? Money hungry a-holes! : )

  • WTF? The melody, THE MOST CRUCIAL ELEMENT, is essentially nothing like it? Yeah I guess they have the same chords, but just watch "Axis of Awesome Four chord song". Do those bands all sue each other??? Money hungry a-holes.

  • Ghostbusters lifts New Drug's whole production and Huey's lawyers had a case, but nah! Pop Muzik is altogether different.

  • The coolest is still Pop Muzik.

  • OMG

  • Yeah I personally don't get this. There are only 11 notes you can play.

  • Tenuous to say the least.

  • pop pop pop music

  • I didn't recognize the beat until about 1:3p right before the song cuts off. I recognize the similar beat there in M's song.

I still think "Drug" and "Ghost" are different enough. I've never heard either song and immediately thought of the other. Ever.

  • Ghostbusters riff is much cooler and livelier!

  • not even close to M

  • I think the pop musik one was a huge stretch but we all know ghostbusters sounds like a want a new drug

  • Parker is a rip off. They asked Huey to do the song and he refused to make a song sound like his... so they had some other rip off do it.

  • They sound similar but its not a total rip off! The lawsuit was in for the money.

  • nothing new under the sun

  • hmm the last one is no: but for ghostbusters u can also add queen "invisible man"

  • I think there is a slight similarity between the rhythm of these songs and "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" by the Jacksons.

  • I totally understand you man, ther is definitely a similarity in the rhythm! Hugs, thanks for the data!

  • for these y dont u try this one cuz im almost positive it was never mentioned:

    al green "you say it"

  • @TorgosMaster Oh my God, that's exactly what I think! "I Want a New Drug" sounds like a more '80s rock version of "Shake Your Body". In fact, I think that similarity is more blatant than the one with "Ghostbusters", although there is certainly some similarity there. The M song is a bit of a stretch, but I can hear it. I think it was just inevitable that people would perhaps unconsciously use that rhythm in their latest single. You gotta admit, it's pretty catchy!

  • i like the ghostbuster them better :)

  • the lastr song was more technotic and the first two were almost alike but if any one were to sue it should have been M not lewis

  • Maybe M never thought their song looked like Lewis song... But Lewis did, that's why it sued Ray Parker Jr. (the songs were released in the same year, only months apart).

  • Sounds nothing Like Pop Muzic, but Ghost Busters is blatent.

  • I've heard these two songs before. I haven't thought about the similarities until now.

  • Thanks! I guess that's normal, I've started paying attention to this kind of stuff when I started posting this videos. Stay tuned, I will post many more! Hugs

  • @tjcobra666 yeah...me neither LOL

  • The first two sounded alike...the last song doesn't sound anything like the previous two.

  • Thanks! All is subjective, of course. But I think you can find some similarities if you listen to the lead in the background of the third song. Hugs
