    Pelota = ball, in rueda it usually refers to baseball. In our experience "pelota" is a very common cuban rueda move, demonstating a daily life activity - catching a baseball.

    Pelota without clapping does not make very much sense to us, due to the baseball metafor.

    And we do actually find it shorter to call "pelota una" / "pelota" than "enchufla con una".

    If we have to choose between logic, cuban tradition and cleanness, we use that order. :)
