  • One of them is a viola, isn't it?

  • ... I'm in piano, but not by choice. Sure, its good and all, but its not... it.. i don't know how to put it, but nothing reaches out to me like the violin does. its like, whenever i hear a violin, its pulling notes straight from my heart. i can face the audience with the violin, let them see my emotion, but with the piano, my face is always hidden, and i HAVE no emotion when i play it. Music is supposed to be free, and the violin is the absolute symbol of that freedom. Piano just isn't for me.

  • @blowup1230 wow, i'm a former violinist and i often feel outcast by pianos because almost all the song covers on youtube are done by pianist but rarely violinist, you've made me feel much better :D

  • beautiful....

  • ahh when the first time in a very long time i clicked this video a moment ago, i was completely overwhelmed by the beauty and undescribing emotional charge, suprised by awe

  • Does anyone have the sheet music?

It isn't Futari, Chizuko, Porco Rosso, Secret Garden, Howl's moving castle...

It's some standalone composition by Joe Hisaishi...

I NEED THE VIOLIN SHEET MUSIC.

  • Waah ~isn't this song in Miyazaki's movie "Porco Rosso" (Crimson Pig)? I just finished watching it & I remember loving this song b/c they always played it as Marco (Porco Rosso) & Gina's theme!!~ ♥

  • goosebumps!

  • someone always coughs. always.

  • piano and violin is such a good combo... a combo of beauty, sexy, sadness, happiness, pain, orgasmic....

  • wow.. goosebumps = D

does anyone else think it sounds a bit like "A Song from a Secret Garden" played by Secret Garden?

  • who's the composer? it remember me "song froma a secret garden" listen to it... its very similar....

  • @coronelkentucky It's in the title. Joe Hisaishi.

  • Oh goodness this is so beautiful :)

  • Just magic.

  • booooo at whoever disliked the video, haters!

  • i am very thankful i saw this before i started thinking of taking piano lessons. now, it's official, i want to have violin lessons

  • @sandythtwi i know right..?? i play the piano too but deffinitely when you're trying to sound passionate and heartbrokenly sad..violin takes it to the top..it's awesome..!!

  • @InfinityEXviolin Have u finished the writing, I am waiting for you to finish for months...thanks to share with me!!!

  • I don't understand why there are only 410,004 views. People need to start expanding their musical horizons.

  • Someone post the link to the sheet music please. VIOLIN please.

  • Comment removed

  • Did Hisaishi compose the music to The Cat Returns as well?

  • i know this music, but from where? is it from porco rosso?

  • @MuKo18 Yup

  • @MuKo18 Actually it's from the movie Futari (Chizuko's Younger Sister) although it has a strong resemblance to Marco and Gina's theme from Porco Rosso.

  • Respond to this video... And Futari means two people hence the name of the song 'Two of Us"

  • the sound is so beautiful!!!

  • Nice performance!!

I have loved this one for long since I heard this at first time.

This is the one of the most beautiful melodies.

  • I cant stand listening to this, cant avoid gettin on my knees and cry

  • god, i regret giving up violin..

  • @radissanissa Maybe your determination is insufficient and you love music not enought

  • @radissanissa It's always possible to go back to it :)

  • @radissanissa

It's never too late to start again!

  • Memories..

  • They all play so beautifully.... from the violin, to the piano.... Look at those movements, and those hands... I think there's something in my eye. Damnit.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • it's sounds a lot like howl's moving castle, but the melody is slightly different. it's still such a beautiful piece. listening to it at 10:50 while doing homework is quite calming =)

  • @onice331 OH MY GOD Im listening to this at 10:50 doing homeowork too! One month later haha. wow that's kind of interesting. (sorry this is my brother's account sorry troy) but yeah you're definitely right, this is very calming. It melts my stress away so i can appreciate the raw emotion of this beautiful piece.

  • @Tristanroyr i listen to it when i'm painting and writing essays. weird combo, but it works =)

  • @onice331

oh, uh that was my sister on my account.

    so, yeah, sorry.

  • Is this from Howl's Moving Castle? Sounds like it.

  • @hannnahha I think it's from 'Porco Rosso'

  • @TheSkazzato it is :)

  • its beautiful:)

  • God said : Why the hell happen to those 13 people ? Are they deaf or something ?!

  • before i die, i must learn this song :o

  • He looks ... Beautiful ! I Fell in love Guys, he is awesome !

  • Why so saddddd? ;__;

*I get so emotional hearing his work*

  • thank you SO much for uploading this video!

  • where was this performed at?

  • (*o*)

  • even though i play the piano and love it i still think that the violin is the only instrument that can sound the most emotional and passionate. its like its somehow speaking for a sad heart.

  • @sandythtwi I agree with it.

  • @sandythtwi there is also the duduk (extremely emotional) and the korean traditional instrument Hae Geum which is also very emotional! :)

  • @chungmanchang the hae geum sounds pretty nicee

  • @sandythtwi the violin is the only instrument that can cry

  • @sandythtwi a piano can also speak for the soul but you are right i think too that the violin is the only instrument that can sound like n sad heart

  • WONDERFUL!

  • wow seriously.. i was studying and had to stop and watch this video.. had goosebumps throughout the entire song.. hahah.. two thumbs up fosho!

  • you are exaggerating it....= =

  • i cried~ This is so beautiful! TAT

  • How did you get the notation??

you played very well!! I like it :)

  • Its like listening to a tale of two lovers who never met each other for years, and lamenting the missing moment of their lives, and in the end died at the same time out of grief to meet each other in the other side instead...

  • @erossskywalker YES you right

  • oh wow......

    mom!! i wanna learn violin!!!!!

  • I cry...

    so beautiful

  • Als würde sich gerade ein Paar (die kurz vor einer Trennung sind) miteinander über die Ehe Diskutieren T.T

    Einfach Wunderschön

  • to sad... :( I like it!

  • I love Joe. Hes skill has inspired me to learned the violin >m<

  • speechless! really want to learn playing violin TT^TT

  • Two years later, i still love this song.

    Beautiful!

  • Beautiful <3 Hisaishi can do no wrong.

  • I believe this song is composed by Joe Hisaishi for Hayao Miyazaki's Japanese Animation Movie Porco Rosso,帰らざる日々 the days of no return .. , every one of Hayao Miyazaki's animation and Joe Hisaishi's composition is like a different world, so beautiful and touching...

  • @ew7815 wrong. this is from the film "Futari" (1991) directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi. It's very close to Poroco Rosso's theme, but it's not. Hisaishi is just self plagiarizing.

    Try this. watch?v=oxoJETmyRpQ

  • @p0llux thx for correction

  • @p0llux 'self plagiarising' is somewhat of an oxymoron... re-using material is a standard practise. Sorry to be annoying.

  • @Orlymusicboy im well aware of that. I do it in my own music as well. I never said it was a bad thing.

  • @p0llux sorry, it just looked negative :/ haha

  • I don't cry. I'm a hard charging Marine. But this is getting me...this is bringing me down :( and I like this sadness. It's beautiful.

  • i was deeply moved my heart is racing so much

    i love it!!

  • @everybody552 i can do it without it too :P

  • Where is this song from?

  • @aciddentprone I'm fairly confident it's from Porco Rosso, and animation by Studio Ghibli.

  • dammit! i missed my ghibli collection! (2 dvd set) all the movies (except ponyo by the cliff onwards) all the extras (commercial, short anime, music video, even a ghibli museum documentary)

  • @arsetothem its MISSING (4-5 years)

  • wow! they are truly talented i never knew taking band class in middle school could lead to this masterpiece! i officialy love this guy! kuddos to you man!

  • i forgot which ghibli movie this is from... what is it?!?!

  • I thought Eminence Symphony is from Australia...

  • A Violin is a Powerful Weapon ='(

  • @DiZ0110 It's not a weapon...

  • @YExoticCreature It is much greater than a weapon, and far more powerful...

  • @roflmywaffle217 I know that. If it's "greater" than a weapon, then that means it's not a weapon -___-

  • @YExoticCreature which is why I said that... ^_^

  • Wonderful song ... I'm speechless :)

  • its very beautiful... T_T . It seems to stop time it self, or like entering a room full of pople but, making eye contact with that one familiar face out of a crowd.. her eyes are the only thing you seee and you make your way across this hall, she slowly fades away... so powerful.. good job on this

  • El boton "me gusta" no alcanza... necesito un ME ENCANTA :) sin que se convierta en "I'm lovin it" ¬¬ pero es que esta GENIAL :D

  • Anyone know where i can find online music sheet for this?

    Thanks x

  • I think 10 people missed the like button. Oh deary me, some people must hate beautiful music.

  • @xxXwazzaXxx Normally when people make a comment like yours, I feel like they're over-exaggerating . . . but in this case, I really don't get how someone could dislike this . . . and dislike it enough to give a THUMBS DOWN!?!

It's just beautiful music . . . what is there to hate?

  • Joe Hisaishi is an utter genius and you played this piece perfectly with all the grace and passion enough to bring someone to tears. You wouldn't believe how much I've listened to this performance over and over again. You all just completely blew me away.

  • @Dianesaurr

    I agree, absolute masterpiece.

  • Great performance!

This song is from the Japanese film "Futari" (1991) directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi.

I feel it sounds a little bit similar to one of the song from "Porco Rosso" by Hayao Miyazaki.

  • so beautiful*crying*

  • it´s so beautiful, joe hisaishi is such a great composer his songs are always filled with many emotions

  • can i have the sheet music for the violin or does anyone know where to get it?

  • ive searched about everywhere looking for it too and found nothing. it must be pretty rare cause i can find all the other hisaishi pieces...if you find it can u send it to me please?

  • I want Joe Hisaishi talent in composing, i just mean that i want to become as good as him, but i say simply beautiful.

  • Beautiful just beautiful!

  • i like the guy a lot!! . .hehe

  • This sounds strangely familiar. is this song somehow connected to a movie or something?

  • @MintoBastet it maybe somehow a bit the same with secret garden but not at all

  • Wonderful performance! Congratulations

  • Sounds like secret garden

  • pretty lady :D

  • Is this from Porco Rosso?

  • @Conchobhar Yes, it is. It also so happens that Porco Rosso is my favorite Miyazaki film. It plays when Gina flies off with Fio.

  • i hope that i will be able to play like the person on the right

  • Same feeling here.

  • I have spent a great deal of time trying to find the "actual" name of this piece and sheet music. I learned half of the first violin part by ear, but as soon as the ensemble starts performing together, I get lost. :S

Now, it has been 2 years since i first listened to this piece, and it still gives me the same feelings as before.

  • @TheOnlyGirlWhoWill have you found the sheet music? do you mind sharing it with me?

  • beautiful T_T

  • I want to learn this song so bad, even if I play trombone. I want to be able to play it on a street corner or something at least.

  • @eurekaslave That would be really nice. You are going to get some tears with this piece

  • yeah.. actually i thought that they sounds similar too.

but i researched and found out that "The Song From The Secret Garden" the album was released in 1996 when this song was used in the movie "Porco Rosso" which was released in 1992.

So I think it's right to think that secret garden copied it cuz it's too similar

  • yea! i saw it too . . that's why it sounds familiar but i definitely like it! nice rendition though! . . i hope someone could give the sheetmusic for this duet!! . . cheers to the two violinist!

  • @ekqls21 No its different then the secret garden... Just listen to secret garden and you can tell..

  • It sounds very similar to the theme of Howl's Moving Castle =p. Maybe it is just the concert hall, but his tone and sound is absolutely gorgeous T.T

  • It's probably just because it's the same composer who wrote these scores. Thats my guess.

  • The beginning reminded me of Howl's Moving Castle.

  • @SaikoTaiko

actually listening deep into his songs and u'll find most of them are similar=)

but Howl's Moving Castle is still my favourite!!

  • @holliezzc A similar tune can be heard in Porco Rosso.

  • it's songs like this and players like this that make me wish i had learned how to play the violin.

    :)

  • is this from the anime movie laputa, a castle in the sky?

  • i just watched castle in the sk a couple hours ago and yes this is from that movie! ^-^

  • That was a great movie!

  • No it's not the same song from Laputa. This song is actually from an old Japanese movie called Chizuko's Younger Sister.

  • whats this theme from?

  • Porco Rosso, I guess. Never heard this title before, but I could recognize the patterns

  • brb bawling niagara falls ;u;

  • Marvilloso is as if the violins were speaking please raise it in HD Luck

  • Really beautiful. I just love the sound of violins.

  • Cant Stop LIstening! T_T

  • Ladies and gentlemen,

we witness great musicians doing a fantastic performance on this masterpiece!!!

    BRAVO!!!!

  • nuuuu...they're both on da violin o_o'

  • oh btw i just realized after watching this for a long time the girl is playing the viola and the guy is on the violin =O

  • they're both on the violin, i know it's confusing...=/

  • That's beautiful...

  • so beautiful......gonna play it with a friend..:) (maybe...if he can play it...)

  • anyone know where to get the sheet music for the violin duet??? (and piano)

  • I'm currently still making the sheet music for violin duet... should be done soon. Updates on Anime on Strings site soon.

  • Do you think you can make the sheet music for this ensemble?

  • Comment removed

  • @InfinityEXviolin

    I'm looking forward :)

  • :D great! i really need da music

  • OMG. How passoniate. So incredible. Simply beautiful.

  • You spoke the exact words I was thinking!

  • Comment removed

  • I love it how they play it with passion. True Muscicans.

  • Omg.. this is so beautiful... I seriously want to play this!!!

  • >Lynkskukikage

It's a song from "Futari"(1991) by Nobuhiko Obayashi. "Futari" is one of "Onomichi triology" by the same director. It's quite a good movie, i recommend.

  • The song also appears in Porco Rosso.
