  • Where is the girl drummer ? Its not the same. How many more originals not there ?

  • Poor immitation band with a chav singer

  • That is a bit of an insult to the original! More like pub singing. Shame.

  • The Honeycombs w/out Honey is just "The Combs"...

  • Brilliant video! Who out of the band in this video are from the original line-up of The Honeycombs??

  • @TheComedyChannelUK just Martin Murray. He has a new line up now and is planning another tour for 2012 check thehoneycombs.info for details

  • Not near as good without the "HOT chick drummer" although don't sound bad!

  • That wasn't good

  • This is bollocks!

  • The Tempo's way out, It's like they're all racing to get to the end and sorry but without Honey it's just not the Honeycombs, there's a saying that 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery' but sadly not in this case.

    Ray

  • Drummer ruins the chorus, trying to be too clever...

  • Is the lead vocalist of this band is the same as the lead vocalist of honeycombs before? the original?

  • @ionixGameOn It SOUNDS a lot like him, but I do not think it is based upon the date of the posting (2008). Denis D'Ell, the original singer, according to all accounts I can find, show that he died of cancer at the age of 61 on July 6, 2005. Still a great song though.

  • @BelfastBailey ok. :]] I'm a fan of this song! :]]

  • A blast from the past, enjoyed this.

Enjoyed it even more when Kelly came on, waaaaaaaah she's stunning 10/10

  • These ain't the original Combs. If it wasn't for Lantree the song wouldn't go anywhere. This video is a farce. Remove A.S.A.P please!!!

  • the singers name is tony harte

  • @henrynevins: A big ditto 2 that, m8!

  • Where's the chick drummer? It's not the Honeycombs without Honey!

  • some classics are better left untampered, when a reformed band try their best it sometimes just aint good enough, sorry!

  • The guys can still "rock"! Are they the originals? Kinds sad, don't know why!

  • Hello to the Honeycombs from Israel.

I rimember that moment when i met them In Haifa at Dan hotel on the Carmel.

we still have some nice photo from those day's.

Alots of people in Israel and i mean during that time they love them songs !

I wish you the best and keep going on.

    My mail is, theibclub@gmail.com

    Uzi Abrahams

  • whos the lead singer

  • Nice to see they're using the Burns Marvins - the unique sound brings back such memories...!

  • So sad 40 years on and no development

  • Thank God Martin Murray is back on the road with a REAL Honeycombs band.

  • @original60s

Hi Does that include Honey on the drums? great!! if it does.

    Ray

  • Blondie has Weird armpits

  • Blondie has Weird armpits

  • the honeycomb don`t need a blondie girl, but i need it...

  • Joe Meek's quirky production of the original is what elevated the song from blah to greatness.

  • you had a great drummer where is she???

  • Love that blonde. Ding Dong!

  • The Guy with the glasses, is the only Original member of this Band. This version sounds like a lounge act at a wedding. UGH!!!

  • This is Great! A great tribute to 40 years plus of playing music. these guys are gig monsters.

  • The original band split up in in 1966 aftyer having achieved one number 1 hit and a string of flop follow ups. The only original band member here is the guitarist on the far left. All i can say about this performance is that if this was how the original band performed live no wonder they only had one hit.

  • They're using Burns guitars. Hurrah for the U.K. !!!

  • @lpbgtr Yep I noticed that too.

Have known the song for years of course but used to think it more "beat" than my beloved British rocknroll such as the Shads/Rapiers who also use Burns. But while looking at JoeMeek stuff today saw this and other 60s clips of Honeycombes, I'm impressed, they were good musos particularly the guitar work (always Burns !!), all with the heavy Meek (from near me in Gloster!) sound. Great !

  • @RockinRedRover Always wonderful to know someone else, has a keen eye, on these things, as well as myself !! Thanks !

  • this is shite. Where's Dennis? Where's Honey? It ain't The Honeycombs without 'em.

  • @moorlock2003 And the lead guitarist is not Alan Ward who is retired and living in Norfolk.

  • Agree 100%

  • oh, sorry. I thought you were doing that internet thing.. "I heard he died".. whenever there's a weird video like a cute animal or a skydiver or an old band like this, there's always a few smart-alecs who post "I heard he died"

    it makes fun of rumors.

    I retract that lol

  • Oh Dear !!.

  • Please do not disrespect this band or it music!! Martin is to the left!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all for the music The Honeycombs have made throughout the years!!!!!

  • @GREATWHITE2 is he the 'nerdy' looking one in the original clip. No disrespect.

  • @lmorgan1974 That's Martin Murray...he always wore those "thick" glasses ever since I first saw The 'Combs back in the early 60's!! Too bad the original members aren't in the group...but what awesome memories about an under-rated band!!

  • non of these in this band were in the original one, :O(

  • @broadband01 Martin Murray is a founder member

  • i prefer the ancient version with the woman drup player

  • i agree, that main thumping drum beat is what made the original so good

  • whos the blonde bird dancing - she is well fit

  • @furner3 my names kelly thanks for the compliment >>>check out my channel kellywalsh30 xxx

  • @kellywalsh30

    have you got a website

  • i DON'T THINK THIS DRUMMER IS A FEMALE, BLACKPOOLROK.

  • hahahahah

  • WHERE'S DENNIS DELL

  • He died I think

  • at least they're using the right guitars!

  • Es ist schade, daß es nicht mehr die alten Honeycombs sind, aber wie lange ist das her .....

  • That drummer has let herself go a bit since she shaved off that beehive hairdo and butched up....

  • LOL excellent, made me chuckle, good luck to you mate.

  • Honey Lantree put up the sticks but brother John Lantree is on the bass

  • Where is the Lady Drummer ?

  • In all honesty,no better than any Pub band!

  • Sad, but true.

  • I've just discovered this song and think this performance is..er..interesting.

  • Hi Slush, Hope you had a chance to listen to the original? I feel for some of these old bands, they do try, however, sometimes you just can't go too far from the original sound!

  • I was too kind! It sounds awful and surely they aren't the original members?! Man alive..

  • I beleive there may just be a couple of the originals!! I think some of these bands from the 1960's are still around and sounding good, however they are few and far between. I enjoy Van Morrison and i think he was around in the 1960's!

  • where is the female drummer?

  • Honey Lantree is alive and well..but she don't drum no more

  • that's what I'm wondering.

  • Hi Kelly

Ban this idiot npdw and remove his posts this person is in you know whos pocket

    tony

    x

  • Funny what he said was the truth tho

  • Tony harte thinks hes some kind of star and famous but he aint nothing

  • You always get a sad old wanna be post this kind of rubbish.

Its not my fault your wife is a slapper..she offered it i took it..very nice too

  • @billyfury1952 Just like your daughter did when she was underage eh

  • Well on PBS Doo Wop Gold, There are no longer not even one Flamingo left alive, but, They still continue with a New Group.

Still I think this is a Great Cut of Have I the Right.

Jay Black , Sings now as Jay Black, An imitator Purchased the Name the "Americans' From Jay, Well Jay needed the money. But, He still performs great as Jay Black, And So on, And So on! No one lives forever! Thanks for the Great Vid!

  • Comment removed

  • Jay & The Americans is owned by The Original Americans, The Flamingos are lead by Terry Johnson. The Honeycombs contain...um...4 guys who have been in the band a couple of years. Martin left the band because, shock horror, he wanted to perform HONEYCOMBS songs!

  • You seem to be familiar with this situation, so do the original Honeycombs get any money from the use of the group's name? I know that's the situation with the Shangri Las. The surviving originals aren't happy about being legally forced to license the name to a group who has nothing to do with them, but at least they get paid for it.

  • Comment removed

  • Fair comment but they're just NOT The Honeycombs any more. No doubting anyone's talent, and you are good Kelly but I think Dennis would be turning in his grave if he saw Tony trying to sing his songs.

  • its better than nothing be greatfull justa bit lol

  • at the end of the day these guys are all professional musicians and have been for many years wether solo or part of the honeycombs and other bands they work extremely hard and deserve a lot more than nasty comments...the original member martin murray wanted to get the band together again hence the line up above..so cut them a little slack they deserve it !!!!

  • so jelous :( my band ahs done a few covers of this at open gigs , thanx for the post chick you rock

  • Thanks fo this, its a great flashback for me. Nice to see the group again.

  • @kellywalsh30 I remembering seeing Air Supply in concert back in the 90's...there were quite a few hecklers in the audience...Russell Hitchcock shut them ALL up with one sentence: "I'm up here, YOU'RE down there!!!" It all boils down to one thing: respect!!!

  • Might as well be a tribute band, and not a good one, either.

  • this is why rock stars die young or retire

  • this aint the honeycombs! theres only two originals left, the singer and lead guitar i think. whats the point?

  • Nope not even that! try NONE!

  • Are these guys coming on a tour to Canada?

  • Honey Lantree looks like a dude now! Which one is the guy who looked like Ernie Douglas from My Three Sons back in '64?

  • Hey, where's Honey Lantree the female drummer? The sound is way different too.

  • Crikey! The drummer's turned into a bloke!

  • lol!

  • i'm LOL - too bad about Dennis. This was a pretty good song from those days - saw them on Shindig - remembered the lady drummer. Peace, love, dove!

  • Crikey! The drummer's turned into a bloke!

  • time takes its toll on everyone, but without the original drummer, it's not the same. Same goes with Los Bravos' "Black is Black". Progressions original drummers used aren't there which were part of the mystique of the songs.

  • Without Annie "Honey" Lantree, it's not Honeycombs:-(

  • Very true!

  • Agreed. If they going on without Honey, they should have hired another girl drummer.

  • Not to mention the fact that original lead singer Dennis D'Ell died in '05.

  • @InnocentWar1 You are so right!!!!!

    Dan

  • @InnocentWar1 i agree whit you

  • Brilliant Tony .. love cathy xxx

  • Well done 44 years ago I heard this song and never are bored, but my friends maybe were, I played every day as a teenager. I have 2 LPs and 7 singles all I got, listening on radio Luxemburg for news(no MTV)those days, thanks.
