Optometry is the worst health profession. You'll spend 200K & all you'll get is a degree that can't pay for itself. Get ready to work at Walmart if you decide on an OD. The profession used to be a great way to make a living, it's not anymore. Save your money, time, & effort, and go into dentistry. You'll regret it if you ignore my warnings. I'd give anything to go back in time and never go to optometry school. If you do decide on an OD, get ready for a career filled with misery.

@angelo: The American Optometric Association is a good source. I would also recommend working for an optometrist as an assistant at some point . This experience would help you decide about the profession. Lastly, ignore comments from SuperGeneralsurgeon.

your kidding right???Why would I apply to optometry school if I got into med school. Its like applying to be a mall cop when you get into the police academy.
