ive listened to this upload and it sounds as if Fraida is too close to the microphone especially at 0.30-0.40;1.00-1.10;1.20-1.25;its still there but it seems to get better as the vocal moves on.it seems that only the vocal is "distorted"and the instrumental in the backround is fine;and i got this on cassette back in late 1981 and im sure i coped on to this back then-it rings a bell and again im sure it was simply a case of Frida being too close to the mike thats causing it-nothing else.
oh,i love the visitors album which i got on cassette xmas 1981 when i was 10yrs old. in my opinion its abbas best album--better than super trouper album even.i also love should i laugh or cry[bside one of us7"]and im very disappointed it wasnt included on the visitors.

Their popularity was waning a bit by the time of The Visitors but i thought it was a great album and the vocals on it by both singers were superb. It puts some "so called"" singers of today to shame.
@technocrash09 I did a direct comparison between this and the 1982 Polydor CD version and the distortion on the Polydor edition is simply not there. It may be on the 2005 remaster due to the the compression and limiting added during remastering (I haven't listened to the 2005 version lately so I don't know for sure)
@mozpiano2 Strange.. I have the cassette AND CD (I bought cassette when album first came out). I played them both on state-of-the-art B & O and Crown equipment and I see no difference between them and the vid here. Maybe I am missing something since I am not a perfectionist or anything. I was not aware there WAS a 2005 version. Anyways, I love all their stuff and I thank you for posting it! Could be I'm "distortion-deaf"! #LOL
@mozpiano2 My apology....I just listened to this on my new computer and you are correct. I did not hear that warbbling before but heard it plainly this time. Strange. Maybe this song really IS haunted (like it sounds).
not sure what is meant by "warbbling"? Is it the "echo" effect? If so, that is a relatively common thing called "reverb" or reverberation. It is used a lot but to a degree that is "measured" only so what ever effect is desired, and not to over do it. Also I hear what sounds like a pulsing with the reverb also, distinguishing that takes some concentration, but it is there. Still curious as what it is your hearing?
@LLuE88 Thanks for commenting. My conclusion is the same. I knoe about reverb effects and the like. From the equipment I have sampled this video with, my conclusion is....it is as it was originally recorded. Again, the purpose being to create a "haunting" effect.
@technocrash09 You most certainly did not hear the original vinyl record, did you ? * As a sound technician, I *obviously* agree with "TomtenT". * This VERY delicate audio mix - among studio professionals a very highly regarded work by the legendary Michael B. Tretow - is sadly distorted on this upload. No shadow over "mozpiano2" though - there are some compression artifacts at fault here. Too bad really, this prodiction is originally a GEM in audio quality ! ! !

It is for some reason yes! I copied the audio straight from my Polydor CD as a WAV and encoded it as a WMA Lossless, and yet it still distorts.

@mozpiano2 Not distorted---it was recorded this way on purpose to create the haunting, ghostly sound. Get the CD and play it, you'll see.
